Shen Roujia followed Gu Zhi into the Magistrate’s office. The atmosphere was solemn, making Shen Roujia feel a bit uneasy.
Gu Zhi seemed to notice her discomfort and gently tugged at her wrist, reassuring her, “Don’t worry, everyone here is on our side.”
Shen Roujia paused, then as if she suddenly remembered something, said, “Oh right, you should call me Wei Jiaojiao for now. That’s my temporary identity.”
Gu Zhi was momentarily taken aback, as if something had dawned on her. “Why?”
Shen Roujia waved her hand dismissively, “It’s hard to explain. Never mind, let’s just keep it simple. You go ahead and take care of your business.”
Gu Zhi frowned, deep in thought, her expression changing as she considered something.
“And, I heard that the people from the Hidden Pavilion said the Martial Alliance is calling you the future Young Madam. What’s that about?”
Shen Roujia froze, “I’m not entirely sure about that. If you want to know, you’ll probably have to ask the mysterious Alliance Leader himself.”
Gu Zhi gave Shen Roujia a probing look, “Are you sure you don’t know him?”
Shen Roujia nodded firmly, “Of course! How could I possibly know someone like that? This is my first time even leaving Capital city.”
