Shen Roujia stretched lazily, feeling a bit tired. She picked up the strategy book and history text that were covering her belly and turned over languidly.

Since it didn’t concern her, Shen Roujia continued with her own tasks.

It wasn’t until she heard a few spoiled calls from outside that Shen Roujia frowned.

Su Chen’s voice sounded slow and measured.

“Princess Wen Yue, please conduct yourself with dignity!”

Shen Roujia was slightly stunned and, before she could react, heard Xiao Fu stopping someone at the door, “You can’t go in!”

Shen Roujia quickly sat up on the couch and said in a deep voice, “Xiao Fu, open the door.”

There was a moment of silence outside.

A graceful voice rushed directly toward Shen Roujia.

“Sister-in-law, Little Seventeen bit my hand.” 𝒏𝙤𝙫𝒑𝙪𝙗.𝙘𝒐𝙢

A young girl wearing a lilac soft smoke gauze dress dashed in. Two red jade hairpins bobbed mischievously in her hair as she moved.

Caught off guard, Shen Roujia was embraced fully by her.

If Shen Roujia remembered correctly, this Princess Wen Yue should be Seventh Princess, Xu Ruoruo.

However… though Xu Ruoruo was young, she was quite strong.

Held tightly by her, Shen Roujia awkwardly pushed her away, frowning, “Princess.”

When Shen Roujia looked up, she saw the National Preceptor holding An’er outside the door.

Su Chen nodded slightly at Shen Roujia, his expression showing a hint of impatience.

It seemed this Princess Wen Yue was quite difficult to deal with, enough to annoy even the usually indifferent Su Chen.

Shen Roujia furrowed her brows slightly, then looked up again with a changed expression.

The faint smile under her veil made Xu Ruoruo suddenly uneasy.

She quietly observed Shen Roujia and suddenly became quiet.

Shen Roujia’s eyes curved as she smiled shyly, “Are you Ruoruo? You are as stunning as I’ve heard.”

Xu Ruoruo, unexpectedly flattered, felt a bit flustered.

She was rarely shy and it was the first time someone had praised her so gently, “Sister-in-law, please don’t tease me.”

Xu Ruoruo had originally come to cause trouble, wanting to see just how ugly this supposedly scheming sister-in-law was.

But looking at the delicate and softly spoken woman in front of her, Xu Ruoruo started to doubt her own intentions.

While Shen Roujia and Xu Ruoruo were talking, Su Chen had quietly left.

Noticing this, Shen Roujia looked up and asked, “So, why did you come here today, Ruoruo?”

Xu Ruoruo, softened by Shen Roujia’s gentle tone, lowered her voice too.

“Ah, I came to bring Little Seventeen a gift. His hundred-day celebration was quite cold. When I was little, the Empress personally organized mine. This child is even more pitiful than I was.”

Shen Roujia was taken aback. Xu Ruoruo seemed like a spoiled little princess, but she had such a past.

Seeing Shen Roujia’s surprise, Xu Ruoruo quickly explained, “My mother was a concubine brought by the Empress. She had a difficult life and passed away from complications when I was born.”

Shen Roujia listened to her calm tone, as if she were recounting an ordinary event.

But no one knew how much it hurt her to introduce herself this way.

Shen Roujia gently raised her hand, “An’er will be very happy to have siblings like you.”

Xu Ruoruo paused, withdrawing her probing gaze from Shen Roujia.

She pretended to be spoiled and waved her fist.

“He’d better be happy!”
