Chapter 26: Chapter 026 Bet Won

Five minutes later, Teacher Chen walked into the classroom.

As soon as she arrived, everyone quieted down.

All the students still remembered the bet between Sheng Tang and Qi Lin and were very concerned about the result.

The homeroom teacher cleared her throat gently: "Regarding last week’s impromptu poetry contest, we only had one student who won an award."

The classroom was filled with whispers.

Everyone looked at Wang Haihao.

Wang Haihao had a faint smile on his face and stood with his chest puffed out.

Some also looked at Sheng Tang and Qi Lin.

Qi Lin’s lips curled up, thinking that fatty would finally leave the school, and no one would be an eyesore anymore. He had avenged Jiang Wei, and Jiang Wei would surely reward him with her affection.

Thinking about this made Qi Lin overjoyed.

Jiang Wei also felt delighted. After all, although Sheng Tang had played tricks to replace her competition spot, she could not replace Jiang Wei’s status as the class’s "talented girl."

But Jiang Baocu seemed like he had been struck by lightning. He covered his forehead, unable to watch.

The homeroom teacher glanced at everyone, taking in their expressions, and continued: "Although we had only one student win an award, we have a big surprise. This student won first place."

"Wow!"

"Oh my god, Wang Haihao is that amazing?"

"First place? Doesn’t that come with a 30,000 yuan prize? Wang Haihao has to treat us!"

The classroom erupted with loud chatter.

Wang Haihao could no longer conceal his pride. His smile deepened, and he even responded to his deskmate’s compliments: "I just wrote casually, it’s nothing..."

The homeroom teacher patted the podium, calling for silence.

Then she said, "The first-place winner is..."

She drew out her words.

Wang Haihao slightly bent over, getting ready to stand up and accept his classmates’ congratulations.

"...Sheng Tang."

As soon as the words were spoken, the entire classroom fell silent, with more than forty pairs of eyes fixed on the teacher’s face.

Feng Yijin and Wei Chengjun looked as if they had been punched, their faces a mix of disbelief.

Qi Lin’s ecstasy vanished in an instant, replaced by a massive shock that left him completely dumbfounded.

Wang Haihao, who was halfway standing, froze, the smile on his face turning into a bizarre expression.

Jiang Wei’s faint smile also disappeared, and she looked at the teacher in shock.

Jiang Baocu lowered the hand covering his forehead and stared at the teacher, motionless.

After a brief silence, the classroom suddenly exploded.

"Sheng Tang? First place?"

"Her previous compositions were just average. What kind of poem won her first place? Especially competing against ten top students from senior year!"

"Jiang Wei has never won first place. It seems the teacher’s decision was very wise. Sheng Tang has truly brought honor to our class!"

"Sheng Tang and Qi Lin had a bet. She bets that Qi Lin will have to run laps around the sports field naked during break time."

"My god, it’s really Sheng Tang!"

The students were all talking at once, as if they wanted to lift the classroom roof. Even the neighboring classes heard the commotion, and some brave students came over to see what was happening, crowding at the windows of the first class.

Suddenly, a shadow darted onto the podium.

"I don’t believe it!" The person running forward was Qi Lin.

Feng Yijin and her sidekick had worked in vain, making a wedding dress for Sheng Tang only to end up bitterly disappointed.

Wang Haihao, who looked down on Sheng Tang, had tried to curry favor with the school and teachers through flattery during the poetry writing. An old professor dismissed him directly, not even giving him a consolation prize, leaving him merely embarrassed.

Jiang Wei hadn’t participated in the first place. Sheng Tang’s impressive performance might not easily shake her status but could at most pose a bit of a threat.

Among all the students, the most devastated was Qi Lin!

Clearly, it had nothing to do with him, but he had stubbornly stood up for Jiang Wei and made such a bet in front of the entire class. Now, Sheng Tang not only won an award but took first place. He couldn’t even find an excuse to back out of the bet.

He didn’t believe it!
