Chapter 34: Day 3: Special Regimen Begins

I arrived at B2 around 5 p.m., two hours before the required time. This campsite was smaller than the others, and it seemed we were the only group here. It must have been due to its remote location. From what I observed, students tended to stay in the higher parts of the mountain, where B1 to B7 were located. The campsites in those areas were also larger.

Looking around the campsite, I found Ava and Leto together. Their tent had already been set up, and they were working on starting a fire. It looked like they had found some fruits—mostly different types of berries. From what Iuld tell, some looked like blueberries and raspberries, but there were others whose names I didn't know. Ava was the first to see me approaching.

"Sin! Are you alright?! I mean... where did you run off to? Howuld you just leave us like that?"

"I'm fine. I had some stuff that needed to be taken care of."

"Okay, but youuld've at least told us. Leto went off to search for you, but he didn't see you. If you had told us, we would've gone with you. Anyway, look at what we found!" she said, directing me toward the pile of fruits they had gathered. "Oh, did you fulfill the regimen?"

"Yeah, I've successfully traveled 50 kilometers."

"That's good! So we allmpleted our tasks. The day is almost over, huh? At least I don't have to worry about being hunted. I wonder what tomorrow's task will be. Any ideas?"

"Nope, none. Maybe the manipulators will be the ones hunted next."

"That would suck, having to protect you. Um... Sin..... thanks for the rabbit, I should have said it earlier! And I'm sorry for how I acted afterward, you were just trying to help, I know that and I appreciated it, so thank you. I talk a lot of nonsense when I'm hungry so just forget it ok?"

"Yeah you really hurt my feelings."

"I said I'm sorry, what more do you want!"

Jeez, even when she's apologizing she has an attitude.

"Would you be willing to set up my tent asmpensation? I'm exhausted and doing this would really give your apology some more weight, like how can I know you really mean what you're saying?"

"Asking a lady to set up your tent? I swear, you have no class at all." she said turning her back to me without even ansideration.

After that, she left, and I set up my own tent. I was so tired that I didn't even bother to eat any of the fruits they had found; I just went straight to sleep.

The next morning, we were woken up at 7 o'clock again by the teachers, who proceeded to hand out a paperntaining the training regimen for the day and the tasks we would be required tomplete. Again, the name of today's regimen was printed in bold on the paper: 'Strength Training.'

There would be strength training exercises in the following designated areas: E1, E2, E4, F1, and G5. These activities would be held throughout the day. Today's task: take part in at least three of the strength training exercises.

The closest area to where we were was E2, which would take around two hours for us to reach. After a brief discussion, we packed our bags and headed off toward E2. We arrived to see several groups already waiting for the strength training to begin. After auple of minutes of waiting, an announcer came out. It was my homeroom teacher, Professor Yandri. He began by informing us about the type of training involved at this camp.

"Today we will be doing a weighted body obstacleurse. Those able tomplete this exercise will be awarded 5 noble points. We have obstacleurses that you'll need tover while carrying bags of varying weights. On the obstacleurse, there are 5 checkpoints. Every time you pass a checkpoint, the weight of your bag will be increased. It will range from 90 pounds, 180 pounds, 350 pounds, 700 pounds, and finally 1,000 pounds. For you to bensidered to have taken part in this exercise, you mustmplete the 90-pound checkpoint."

For reference a thousand pounds was a about as heavy as a small car. The obstacleurse was estimated to be about 500 meters in length-the size of 3 football fields link together.

Unlike the other events, this one was done on an individual basis. Arding to Professor Yandri, there were only 8 groups in thismpetition, which meant there would be 24 peoplempeting in total.

"Sin!" a voice called out to me as I was preparing for thempetition. Looking around, I spotted Sarah rushing toward me. "I never expected to see you here."

"This was the closest spot to where we were."

"Well, I'm glad because at least we get to spend some time together," Sarah said, locking arms with me.

"Have you met up with any of our classmates? Are they all okay?"

"Hmm... I've seen auple of them, and they seem to be doing well."

"Oh, that's good. I assume you're taking part in thismpetition too?" I asked.

"Yeah, but I'm not toonfident that I'll do well. I'll justmplete the first checkpoint and call it a day. The school is really unfair, don't you think?"

"Unfair? What do you mean?"

"With the prize, I mean, there's no way anyone canmplete an obstacleurse while carrying a thousand pounds. That's as heavy as a car! It's like they never intended to give out the 5 noble points in the first place. You know, I've always dreamed of being a noble ever since I was a little girl," she said, her expression shifting slightly. Iuld sense the bitterness in her tone; something told me it was intentional. "The best I can do is probably marry a guy who belongs to a noble family." Her voice shifted again, this time to a playful tone.

I stilluldn't figure her out, I'veme to know a little about her though. Like how cunning she was, every action, every word she said was deliberate. The tender smile she gave me, the way she wrapped herself around my arms, every action had a meaning.

"Well, anyway, good luck," she said before rushing off.

"What was that about?" Ava asked, giving me a scrutinizing look. "Don't tell me you're the type of guy to go after a girl with a boyfriend."

"Stop assuming things; she's just a classmate."

"Whatever. It's time for thempetition to start. Let's go?"
