Since sighting Aila in the castle, Damon organised the werewolves into teams, rotating them to observe the castle. This soon turned into them following Cassius, Aila, Davian and some other red-haired man that caused the Alpha in him to want to claim Aila more. But that was the least of their problems; following them without being seen was a skill in itself.

He felt very fortunate for Gabriel to be by his side along with a shapeshifter who, without complaint, flew along with Aila’s vehicle, hidden behind the clouds. n𝚘𝚟𝚙u𝚋.co𝚖

This was day three post seeing his mate in the castle. They had yet to move, and from what little information they had on Aila and Cassius and the little band of vampires, it didn’t seem like Cassius had caught onto them. He was incredibly proud of his mate, but he still found it fucking frustrating being so close and not yet ripping her away from that vampire’s clutches.

He wanted nothing more than to rip the fucker into shreds.

"That is a delightful thought," Darius’ regal voice rumbled in agreement.

Damon was currently crouched in his wolf form, Finn on one side, Kane on the other, with Gabriel and Esme behind him. His pack members kept their distance, and the others were still patrolling and reporting to him about the castle.

They were outside a hunter’s compound; it was the third one they’d been to. The first was already on fire when Aila and Cassius arrived. Aila’s wall fell down momentarily, giving Damon an insight into her emotions, and she was disappointed. In the following compound, the group of four annihilated the hunters, leaving the bodies to rot.

Aila had yet to mind-link him. She knew he was there; the bond was always present, tugging at the pair, alerting the other of their presence. She occasionally stiffened, her eyes darting in his direction though he was well hidden. Even without feeling her emotions, Damon knew his mate was nervous about him being nearby.

"Is their mission to just kill all the hunters?" Finn mind-linked him; his ears were straight, eyes set on Aila as he remained alert. Though he sounded annoyed, Finn’s voice betrayed the jealousy he felt. He had been a victim of their ways for much longer than Aila; though there were a lot of victims left behind by the hunters, it wasn’t just Finn, Ajax, Gabriel and Aila.

"There is more going on here," Damon replied slowly as his gaze followed his mate separating from Cassius, who zipped off in a blur. The other two ’minions’ started to accompany Aila, but she ordered them to disband. "Gabriel, go.."

A blast of wind rustled his fur, and he turned to see the white-haired vampire gone, leaving Esme in her human form to shift from side to side, her little habit of spinning a dagger on her palm revealing her angst at the vampire leaving her side. "Cassius has left the compound." Esme released a breath. "He’s chasing a beast."

Damon stood up. The sounds of gunfire echoed through the air, but that didn’t deter him. The black wolf bounded down the hill, letting the mate bond pull him towards his mate. Gabriel was after Cassius as he chased after some beast. He couldn’t help the restlessness in his soul.

He’d watched her for days now, watching the way she composed herself in front of that sick fuck. The more he thought about it, the more Darius was ready to rip through; though their temper raged like a storm, their heart quickened as their paws slowed down. He rounded the corner and stopped.

There, halting mid-stride, was his mate. Her white locks ran down her back, blowing softly in the breeze, her rounded ass fitting snuggly in those tight white skinny jeans. Aila’s breathing intensified, and her heart thumped wildly in her chest. Oh, she knew he was there.

The bones in his back began to break and the fur shrunk inside him as he shifted. His bare feet stepped towards his mate silently as he scanned their surroundings until his sight became like tunnel vision towards Aila. The bond pulsed in renewed energy the closer he got to her; the intensity of needing her in his arms soared.

Without saying a word, Damon wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her into him.

The moment his skin touched her, an electrical current rippled through them, and Aila collapsed into his chest, a sigh leaving her lips. Her curves fit into the steely ridges of his stomach; the beating of their chests synced as a cocoon of warmth wrapped around them. Damon pressed his nose against her neck, inhaling her scent as he skimmed across her skin and into her hair.

"Aila," he whispered against her skin, making her shiver. "Aila, Aila, Aila."

Damon couldn’t help but call her name. He’d felt so lost without her, and seeing her in the arms of that.. His chest rumbled, not even finishing the thought, and he tightened his hold on her.

Aila opened her eyes. She’d been enjoying the feel of wholeness, of being in her mate’s arms again and the way he whispered her name again and again like she was his salvation; it almost broke her. She wanted nothing more than to run with him right then and there.

Slowly, Aila turned in his embrace, her hands sliding up his muscular arms as a shiver ran through her again. Meeting his silver gaze, her heart pinched, and her stomach dropped; tears filled her eyes as she clutched at his handsome features. Did she hurt him from her display with Cassius?

The idea scratched razor blades across her chest, and the feeling of nausea coiled in her stomach.

"Damon.." Her sorrow whispered through to him as her hands grazed his stubbled jawline. "Damon.. I’m-"

His lips crushed into hers, taking her breath away, it was like he didn’t want to hear her apology, or maybe it was the wall she’d kept up crumbling the moment he touched her. She was guilt-ridden, yet at the same time completely swept away being in his arms, feeling his touch.

He nibbled on her bottom lip, making her gasp as his tongue slipped in and met hers, their hands exploring each other’s bodies.

Damon backed her up against the wall and lifted her hips up; she instantly wrapped her legs around him, sighing and moaning when his lips traced her neck, his hands groping and teasing her.

"Didn’t she go this way?"

The pair halted, Aila’s hand stopping at his prominent ’V’ line. They tried to control their harsh breathing as they stared at each other. Aila felt almost giddy, like a school kid about to get caught causing trouble, but she shook that thought off. This was dangerous. Damon could-

Before her mind could finish, Malia pushed her back and took control of their body. Almost instantaneously, Damon’s eyes glowed, and his lips curled into a smirk before he quietly opened the barrack’s door and carried her inside. Darius had taken over.

His hands groped and fondled her butt cheeks, and he laid her down against a staircase; their kisses became heated again. The thrill of being in each other’s arms again, trying to make this moment last longer before they’d need to split up.

"That’s what we need to do, Malia. You know that, right," Aila spoke to her wolf breathlessly as she watched through half-lidded eyes. But being in the back of her mind and not in control, even as her body melted against Damon and Darius, she still felt the tingle of panic sliding over her.

With that thought, she forced herself back into place like a taut elastic band pinging back. She felt Darius’ rough kisses at full force now, and how his hand against her throat shook, his claws felt close to scratching her skin. But he had at least some amount of control to not pierce it.

The thing with Darius, he was more dominant than Damon; she could tell from the hardness of his rod against her and the way he tugged at her lips that he wanted to punish her.

Her thighs clenched together at the idea, but this wasn’t a reunion. This was a mistake. She was being swept away by him. With all her strength, she pushed away from Darius and against the bond, thrumming and making them want to mate. Her throbbing core and his twitching cock would have to wait.

Aila licked her lips as she stared back at him. "You need to go." As though to make her point, the sounds of two men speaking added to the situation. Harry and Davian. Aila glanced in that direction, her fingers digging into Damon’s biceps. "Spank me or punish me however you want when I’m back, but right now.. You HAVE to go."

"Oh, I’ll do more than that," Darius growled seductively though his eyes glared in the direction the others were coming from. The glow in his eyes dimmed, and Damon returned. His chest heaved, and he pushed away, trying to gain control over himself. Like his wolf, Damon couldn’t help glaring in Harry’s and Davian’s direction. But this had all been so risky.

Aila jumped up, biting her bottom lip as she rushed him through the doors to the rest of the barrack. She’s already killed the hunters in there, their bodies resting on the cold ground. That was like a splash of cold water to Damon, who looked at her in surprise and awe. Clutching his hand, the pair sprinted through the aisles of bunkbeds until they were at the far end.

"Damon.." Aila’s panicked voice brought his attention back to her features as they stood by the exit. "Cassius is collecting lycans. I can’t leave. Not yet.." Her hand caressed his cheek, and Damon closed his eyes to her touch, leaning into her hand. "They need me more than you right now.. I want to..

I want to turn my back on them so badly and just run with you.."

"You can’t," Damon replied softly, opening his eyes as he turned his head and kissed the palm of her hand so gently she nearly melted then and there. "But when this is all done, I’m never letting you out of my sight again. Fuck, Aila.. I-"

The sound of the door knob turning stopped their exchange. Aila pushed Damon out, knowing this was not their last goodbye. Her mate backed away and shifted before sprinting around the corner on all fours. Aila watched and watched until she felt a new presence behind her.

"Well, wasn’t that just lovely."
