Chapter 1395 - Spoink's Training Journey
"Bonnie!"
Seeing Bonnie shouting so loudly and behaving impolitely, Citron quickly covered her mouth.
"I'm wondering why Gym Leader Olympia is waiting for me here?" Yuga asked in confusion.
He had met Olympia before, but they had no personal connection whatsoever. Even if she foresaw his arrival, there was no reason for her to wait here specifically.
Surely, she's not inviting me to a meal? Yuga thought with amusement.
"I was wondering if I could invite Gym Leader Shimizu to visit Anistar Gym?" Olympia asked after some thought.
Hearing this, Yuga looked at her in surprise and thought to himself, So there really is something going on.
"In that case, I'd be honored," Yuga replied with a smile. "It wouldn't be a problem if my companions came along too, right?" Since they were both Gym Leaders under the League, it wouldn't be polite to refuse such a sincere invitation.
"Of course," Olympia said, her normally serious face showing a rare smile.
And so, under Olympia's guidance, Yuga and his group arrived at the Hakoku Gym.
Inside the gym, Yuga and the others saw many apprentices practicing their psychic abilities. Compared to them, the few apprentices at Verdant Gym seemed insignificant in number.
After giving Yuga's group a brief tour of the gym, Olympia didn't beat around the bush and directly explained why she had invited him.
"I invited you here today because there is something I want to tell you," she said.
Yuga was slightly taken aback and asked in confusion, "Please, go ahead, Gym Leader Olympia."
Olympia remained silent for a few seconds before finally speaking. "Some time ago, while meditating, I suddenly saw a vision in my mind. The image was blurry, but I vaguely saw the figure of the Dragon of Order."
"The Dragon of Order?" Yuga asked in surprise. "Are you talking about Zygarde?"
Olympia looked at Yuga in surprise, not expecting him to know about Zygarde.
"That's right, it was indeed Zygarde."
"But what does Zygarde have to do with me?" Yuga asked, even more puzzled.
Olympia shook her head and said, "I don't know either. However, in the vision, the Dragon of Order let out a wail, and I faintly saw your figure beside it."
"Me?" Yuga was shocked.
"Yes," Olympia confirmed with a nod.
"Could it be that you saw wrong?" Yuga asked uncertainly. Since the image was blurry, it wouldn't be strange if there was a mistake.
"That's impossible," Olympia shook her head. After a moment of thought, she continued, "If Gym Leader Shimizu doesn't believe me, then you can see for yourself."
As soon as she finished speaking, a male and a female Meowstic appeared at her side. The two Meowstic held Olympia's hands, one on each side, and slowly lifted her into the air.
With a soft chant from Olympia, Yuga saw both Meowstic and Olympia's eyes light up with a vivid purple glow.
Clearly, their psychic energy was being linked together.
Moments later, a glowing screen appeared in front of them. The image on the screen was blurry, seemingly filled with swirling smoke and dust.
But just as Olympia had described, Yuga did indeed see the wailing Zygarde—and in a brief flash, he also saw himself.
The vision was very short, lasting only a dozen or so seconds before disappearing.
When it ended, Olympia and the two Meowstic slowly descended to the ground. Yuga could see that they were all extremely fatigued, clearly indicating that reproducing this vision had placed a heavy burden on them.
"Gym Leader Shimizu, you saw it, didn't you?" Olympia asked, forcing herself to stay alert despite her exhaustion.
"I did. That was indeed me, but..." Yuga said, his expression complex. "Gym Leader Olympia, could you tell me what this vision means?"
Olympia shook her head. "I don't know either, but when I foresaw this image, I felt an intense sense of alarm."
"Alarm?" Yuga asked in confusion.
Olympia explained, "I only experience this kind of alarm when a great crisis is about to befall Kalos. This vision might be a warning that Kalos—no, perhaps the entire world—is on the verge of a major catastrophe."
Yuga was stunned. Was it really that serious?
Olympia continued, "I invited you here not for any other reason. Since you appeared in the vision, you must be closely tied to this event, so I wanted to warn you to prepare in advance."
"Thank you," Yuga said sincerely, though his mind was filled with questions.
The vision showed Zygarde's wailing... but why?
In the original storyline, it was Lysandre and Team Flare who targeted Zygarde. But now, Team Flare had been destroyed, and Lysandre was serving a life sentence. What could possibly threaten Zygarde now? 𝓃𝓸𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶
Moreover, in the anime, one of Zygarde's cores met Ash and his friends. Unfortunately, Yuga couldn't remember the exact timeline. At the very least, Ash and the others hadn't encountered it yet.
Reality was now vastly different from the original anime. Ash's travel route was already completely changed, and without Team Flare pursuing Zygarde, there was no guarantee that it would even appear.
Unable to make sense of it all, Yuga decided to set the matter aside for now.
"I've told you everything I needed to, Gym Leader Shimizu. If you wish to stay in Anistar City, you're welcome to lodge at the Anistar Gym."
With that, Olympia quickly departed, leaving one of her disciples to attend to Yuga. She was in desperate need of rest and had no energy to entertain guests.
Yuga understood and didn't consider her behavior impolite.
Having spent so much time traveling in the wild, Yuga decided to stay at the Anistar Gym for the night before continuing his journey.
Tomorrow, he would part ways with Ash and his friends—he would return to Hoenn, while Ash and the others would continue their travels.
After Olympia left, Yuga and Ash's group went into the city, buying supplies they would need for the road. After so much time away, most of the provisions aboard the Ghost Ship had been used up, and fresh ingredients were long gone.
The next morning, Yuga rose early. By that time, the gym disciples were already engaged in their morning training, led by none other than Gym Leader Olympia herself.
After a night's rest, Olympia was once again full of vigor. After all, she had merely been drained of energy, not injured. A night of meditation was enough for her to fully recover.
Watching Olympia leading her disciples in training, Yuga suddenly thought of something and decided to make a call home.
At the daycare, Suzuki Koen was sorting through the accounts when she suddenly received Yuga's call. Curious, she asked, "Boss? Do you need something?"
"Sister Suzuki, is Spoink at the daycare?" Yuga's voice came through the phone.
"It's not here," Sonoe replied, shaking her head. "It's probably at the park entrance, doing fortune-telling again."
Everyone at YoYo Daycare knew all too well about Spoink's hobby.
"I see. Could you call it back? I need to ask it something."
"Sure, hold on," Sonoe said, then looked up at Ayaka, who was sweeping the floor. "Ayaka, could you go find Spoink? The boss just called and wants to talk to it!"
"Got it!" Ayaka responded and ran out, not even having time to put down the broom in her hand.
At that moment, Spoink was in the middle of doing a love fortune-telling for a tourist. But upon hearing that Yuga had called for it, it quickly packed up its stall and dashed off, leaving its partner, Chatot, both frustrated and forced to put on a smile while comforting the tourists.
Seeing that Spoink had returned, Suzuki Sono turned on the video function of the call, making it easier for Spoink and Yuga to talk directly.
Through the call, Yuga asked Spoink, "Spoink, I know of an incredibly skilled seer, even better at fortune-telling than you. If I let you follow her and train for a while, would you be interested?"
Upon hearing this, Spoink's eyes lit up. Better than my fortune-telling? I have to learn from her!
It eagerly nodded.
Yuga smiled and said, "Alright then. I'll ask her to take you in, but if she refuses, don't take it too hard."
Spoink patted its belly to show that it wouldn't mind.
After hanging up the call with Spoink, Yuga waited outside the gym where Olympia and her apprentices were doing their morning training. Once the session ended, Yuga called out to her.
"Gym Leader Olympia, please wait a moment!"
Hearing this, Olympia turned around with a puzzled expression. "Gym Leader Shimizu, is there something you need?"
Yuga got straight to the point. "It's like this—I have a favor to ask of you."
Olympia readily responded, "Please, go ahead. If it's something I can help with, I certainly will."
Yuga explained, "I have a Spoink at my ranch with great talent in fortune-telling, but unfortunately, no one has been able to guide it properly. I'm worried that its talent will go to waste. So, I wanted to ask if you would be willing to train it."
"Fortune-telling?" Olympia's interest was piqued.
"But our training methods are only passed down within our gym. Are you asking for Spoink to formally become a disciple of the Battle Chateau Gym?"
The Battle Chateau Gym was one of the oldest in the Kalos region, with every generation of Gym Leaders possessing psychic abilities. For generations, they had foreseen and prevented many crises in Kalos, making the Battle Chateau Gym exceptionally important to the Kalos League.
"This..." Yuga hesitated upon hearing that.
Seeing his troubled expression, Olympia gave a slight smile. "Actually, it's not strictly necessary for it to join our gym."
"Really?" Yuga asked in surprise.
"But..."
"But?" Yuga prompted, noticing her hesitation. "Please, speak freely."
"Ahem..." Olympia cleared her throat awkwardly before saying, "I heard that Gym Leader Shimizu's YoYo Day Care sells top-tier Pokéblocks?"
At that, Yuga suddenly understood. Ah, so that's what this is about!
The top-tier Pokéblocks from YoYo Day Care were sold in limited quantities, making them extremely difficult to obtain. Since they were highly sought after by trainers, it wasn't surprising that Olympia would mention them.
I see how it is, Olympia! Yuga thought to himself.
"During Spoink's training period, I can grant you exclusive access to purchase them—at a 50% discount."
Giving them away for free wasn't an option; that would be a huge loss. But offering a special discount? That was reasonable. After all, training under someone else required tuition fees.
Hearing Yuga's proposal, Olympia smiled in satisfaction. "Gym Leader Shimizu, you can send Spoink over anytime."
"Then I'll leave Spoink in your care, Gym Leader Olympia."
After saying this, Yuga went to borrow the teleportation device at the Anistar Gym, having Dou Dou send Spoink over.
As soon as Spoink arrived, Yuga took it to meet Olympia.
"Gym Leader Olympia, this is the Spoink I told you about. Spoink, this is Gym Leader Olympia, whom you will be training under."
Yuga introduced them to each other.
Olympia carefully examined Spoink, while Spoink gazed at her expectantly.
"Come with me," she said.
With that, Olympia led Spoink inside the gym. Yuga wanted to follow, but he was stopped by the apprentices guarding the entrance.
Half an hour later, Olympia came out with Spoink. At this point, there was a hint of satisfaction in her eyes when she looked at Spoink, while Spoink now gazed at her with admiration.
Only Yuga remained clueless about what had happened.
Now that Spoink's training arrangement was settled, Yuga planned to take his leave. Before leaving, he reminded Spoink, "Spoink, study hard. Once you've mastered your skills, I'll come to take you home."
Spoink patted its little belly and promised, "Don't worry! I'll work really hard!"
Since Ash and his friends still had to challenge the Anistar Gym, they didn't leave with Yuga, but they did escort him all the way to the port.
"Ash, I wish you success in your gym battle, and I also hope you achieve great results in the Kalos League," Yuga said, sitting on Lapras's back while looking at Ash on the shore.
"I got it, Yuga! And I wish you a safe journey!" Ash said reluctantly.
"Big Brother Yuga, if I get the chance, I'll come visit you in Hoenn!" Bonnie said, her eyes brimming with tears.
Hearing this, Yuga smiled and said, "I'll be waiting for you!"
After a heartfelt farewell, Yuga rode Lapras and left the Port of Anistar City alone.
He glanced back at the sundial standing in the distance and couldn't help but think of the megalith—and at the same time, he inexplicably recalled the vision Olympia had foreseen.
Once he boarded the ghost ship, Yuga wasted no time and had it sail straight toward the Hoenn region.
Along the way, Dusknoir, which had been recovering in the Shadow Space, finally healed from its injuries and woke up.
...
[ Dusknoir ]
Type: Ghost
Ability: Pressure
Gender: Male
Potential: Purple
Level: 99
Moves: Night Shade, Mean Look, Astonish, Shadow Sneak, Foresight, Will-O-Wisp, Confuse Ray, Curse, Hex, Shadow Ball, Black Look, Psychic, Swagger, Payback, Role Play, Trick Room, Dark Pulse, Substitute, Dream Eater, Sleep Talk, Shadow Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Gravity, Focus Blast, Parting Shot, Haze, Aura Sphere, Pain Split.
...
Having obtained the ruby, Dusknoir not only successfully advanced to purple potential but also increased its level from 96 to 99, now just one step away from reaching the ultimate Level 100.
Yuga couldn't be happier.
Furthermore, according to Dusknoir, it hadn't even fully absorbed the power of the ruby yet. Once it completely assimilated that energy, it would practically reach Level 100.
As the saying goes, joy makes time fly. In his good mood, Yuga felt the journey passed in no time, and he soon arrived safely in Verdanturf Town without encountering any unexpected incidents.
