When Rain told the others about the news about the enemy cargo, they agreed with his decision. There wasn't much that they could do, and changing their course wouldn't accomplish anything either. Besides, the first tournament was approaching its end, so they decided to focus on that and then return to business when that was over, with their mind completely clear.
"About the tests regarding space magic…" Rain said when the meeting was over. "The tournament will end in two days, so we will focus completely on it. I don't want to split my focus when it comes to something so dangerous."
"Understood," Sakaki said.
Rain was truly intrigued by the concept of space magic. The potential to enhance the vessel's speed and unlock new abilities in the vastness of space was an interesting prospect. However, he was well aware of the risks and consequences associated with such experiments.
A single misstep could lead to catastrophic consequences, potentially causing irreparable damage to the vessel and endangering everyone on board. There would be no restarts or second chances after a failure of that magnitude.
The journey through space had already proven to be filled with uncertainties and unexpected challenges. Venturing into the uncharted territory of space magic added another layer of complexity to their mission.
Rain took a deep breath, embracing the responsibility that came with pushing the boundaries of magical exploration in their quest to understand and confront the mysterious enemy threatening their existence.
Rain finished recovering a bit earlier that day, so he decided to check things on the Iori's workshop. There was nothing there aside from a table with the red stone that Rain sealed him in and the ominous sword. Still, as soon as Rain entered the room, he was pulled into the core of the domain. 𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑝𝘶𝘣.𝑐𝘰𝘮
"What is it?" Iori asked. "I already told you that I don't like to be bothered for no reason."
"Wow, it almost feels like you are the boss here," Rain said. "It should have been more than enough time for you to compile your knowledge, and I am here to check it."
"She is reading them. I finished it a few days ago," Iori said.
Elisabetha was supposed to be keeping an eye on Iori. Still, she was completely relaxed while reading one of the many books that Iori created in his domain. Writing down all that will be a massive pain in the ass… even though Rain's writing skills were already at max level… the idea of breaking the limit of such a skill seemed insane.
"What are you reading?" Rain asked.
"I am memorizing all the details of the blood control technique," Elisabetha explained. "It is similar to the Authority magic of the dragons, after all."
Rain was familiar with the concept of blood control magic. It operated on a physical level, where the caster utilized its magical abilities to influence and manipulate the blood of the target directly. Over time, the caster could exert control, turning the individual into a puppet under their command. It was a dark and shady form of manipulation that tapped into the very life force of the victim.
On the other hand, the authority magic of dragons was a different thing altogether. It worked by imprinting a unique seal onto the mana of the target, coupled with the power of the sins. This combination had a profound and almost immediate effect, rendering the target submissive to the authority of the caster.
It was a magic that harnessed both the mystical and psychological aspects, creating a powerful and dominating influence.
As Elisabetha drew parallels between the blood control technique and the authority magic of dragons, Rain couldn't help but see the potential dangers that could be found within such knowledge. The combination of physical manipulation and mental dominance created a formidable arsenal for those seeking control over others.
Rain's mind began to race with thoughts of how such knowledge could be utilized or countered. Elisabetha was also thinking along those lines… while the first dragons didn't show those kinds of skills, it was better to be safer than sorry.
"Some talent is necessary for this, but there is nothing like a bit of practice and high magic power couldn't do to bypass such limitations," Elisabetha said. "You can probably learn both versions of it."
"I will consider once I become even more ruthless and forget about carrying over many things that help me sleep at night," Rain said. "I guess this kind of knowledge will have to be sealed from the public."
"With the same logic, you can also unlock the path of the blood mages of the magic people," Elisabetha said. "Using the blood to control others isn't everything that this type of magic can do it. You were supposed to think like that."
Rain was aware of it… the idea of summoning monsters made of blood that would repair themselves by shedding the enemy's blood had a certain appeal, but who could tell that they would keep facing lifeforms that had blood? It was better not to rely on that kind of thing too much. Still, Rain couldn't help but study the books a bit more since he had time.
You fulfilled the requirements to unlock a new path.
Blood Mage's Path: The Blood Mage's Path delves into the ancient and forbidden art of manipulating blood, allowing practitioners to harness its power for various magical abilities. Beware, for this path comes with its own set of risks and costs. (Intelligence + 05 per level.)
Level 1: Hemomancy Initiate - Master the basic manipulation of blood, enabling you to control your own blood flow. Gain a slight boost to physical abilities when activated. Strength and Endurance + 10 per level for a minute at the cost of one hundred points of mana.
That had been easier than expected but not surprising considering Rain's knowledge of modern medicine and the secrets behind Iori's skills. Now, he just needs some passive skills on that path to make it level up automatically.
