Chapter 1166: Chapter 1166: Talking Behind Someone’s Back
When the plane landed, Julius Reed stretched lazily.
Cook’s City Airport!
It was the most dilapidated airport he had ever seen.
Not a single other!
As the plane landed, its body wouldn’t stop shaking.
The wheels struggled immensely over the rugged runway.
The entire airport had been abandoned for many years.
Even the cement they trod on had been hastily laid that afternoon.
It wasn’t even dry yet.
It seemed,
someone had gotten here early and made some rudimentary renovations to Cook’s City Airport, at least enough to land planes on.
"Mad Dragon, the message we’ve released must have drawn quite a crowd from the martial arts world," Templeton Lena pointed at the several planes around them, and at the still wet cement ground beneath their feet, "We’ve arrived early, but it seems that some have come even earlier."
Around the airport, numerous cars drove back and forth nonstop.
Weeds overran the place; it wasn’t somewhere you’d expect to see people.
Those vehicles were clearly the modes of transport for the warriors of the martial arts world.
"The lure of the Divine Dragon Tripod to the world is too powerful!"
Julius Reed strolled with his hands clasped behind his back, laughing and shaking his head, "For wealth, a man pays with his life; for food, a bird perishes. I guess it’s just like that."
Everyone had the same goal and tacitly understood each other.
After exiting the airport, the group moved resolutely towards the city district.
Templeton Lena carried the flag of Seven Clouds Academy with its golden dragon swallowing the sun, making an ostentatious display.
Terrified that others wouldn’t notice him.
When encountering others from the martial arts world along the way, he didn’t even glance at them, simply pushing them aside.
After all, following the battle at Medicine King Valley, Seven Clouds Academy had once again incurred deep hatred with these people; there was no possibility for reconciliation.
And when these people saw the golden dragon swallowing the sun flag, they quickly turned and left, spreading the word.
Cook’s City was in decay. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
Abandoned buildings were everywhere.
If you rolled the clock back fifty years, this place might have been a bustling city.
But now, the weeds, the empty buildings, and the roadside cars rusted for decades were the symbols of Cook’s City.
Yet some well-informed individuals had arrived early in Gonzalez City and quickly refurbished some of the derelict ownerless buildings.
Setting up makeshift diners and hostels.
A portion of the people from the martial arts world simply pitched tents by the roadside, resting on the spot, waiting for companions to arrive or planning to head to Middle-river Pier by noon the next day.
Here, at least with crowds, the mutual checks and balances would spare them much trouble.
If someone went to the pier alone and got ambushed in the middle of the night, they would truly die without knowing how.
The airport was not far from the city district.
Five kilometers.
A half-hour walk, and the team from Seven Clouds Academy could already see tents cropping up by the roadside.
Staying in these field tents was quite manageable; after all, these warriors from the martial arts world were not delicate young masters.
They were all too familiar with hard environments, having lived on the edge of the blade.
Someone poked their head out, saw the golden dragon swallowing the sun flag, and immediately ducked back inside their tent.
The fear in their heart was difficult to articulate.
After the battle in Medicine King Valley, the entire martial arts world was severely weakened, and many no longer dared confront Seven Clouds Academy.
But a small fraction of people still harbored ill intentions.
"See that? Seven Clouds Academy sure knows how to show off!" a blonde, blue-eyed individual sitting inside a tent spoke to his companion, "As if they were worried others wouldn’t know they’re from Seven Clouds Academy."
The golden dragon swallowing the sun flag was very conspicuous.
There was a light breeze in Cook’s City today, which just happened to unfurl the flag.
Listening to the uniform footsteps coming from outside, the people in the tent remained silent.
Until the footsteps gradually faded away.
"Sooner or later, those people will get what’s coming to them! With so many strong figures in Cook’s City, does Mad Dragon think he’s a god? Misdeeds mount and will lead to his own ruin!" The foreign companion only spoke after the people from Seven Clouds Academy had left.
Meanwhile, he took a swig of vodka from his waist and sighed, "What a shame. I won’t be the one to personally kill those thieves."
Swoosh!
As soon as the voice had faded.
The tent above the two men’s heads was suddenly lifted.
"Who!"
The man who was drinking choked on a gulp of vodka that went down the wrong pipe, almost unable to catch his breath.
Meanwhile, his companion grabbed a box of hidden weapons and whirled around.
"From what I just heard, it seems you were cursing Seven Clouds Academy?" A sinister-looking man stood before them, hands clasped behind his back, bending at the waist, staring at the two.
The man was none other than Julius Reed, wearing the mask of Elaenor Wood!
He knew that his arrival here couldn’t be concealed from Elaenor Wood!
So, he decided to use this face to do the dirty deed and find someone to take the fall.
"Are you... from Seven Clouds Academy?"
The blond Caucasian man holding the box of hidden weapons pointed it towards Julius Reed, "I’d advise you not to overstep! This is Cook’s City! It is not Gonzalez City!"
Although he said this, his hand holding the box of hidden weapons was trembling slightly.
And his throat couldn’t help but convulse.
Seven Clouds Academy had been gaining prominence lately, and they were merely a small organization under the control of Deep Cold; they had neither the status nor the courage to confront Seven Clouds Academy head-on.
"Is that so?"
Julius Reed squatted in front of the man, extending a hand and pushing the box of hidden weapons against his own head, "Come on, open the box, kill me!"
"You..." The man took a deep breath, his nose twitching, his forehead already beading with sweat.
"Do you think I don’t dare?" His finger lightly rested on the trigger, his eyes brimmed with murderous intent.
However, Julius Reed could tell the murderous intent was feigned.
Too fake.
All he saw was fear, the kind that stemmed from the core of one’s being.
"Misunderstanding... misunderstanding..." The man’s companion had finally coughed up the vodka from his windpipe and hurriedly came over to make peace, "Just now, we had a misunderstanding. We were just chatting idly, not discussing Seven Clouds Academy."
If the main forces of Deep Cold were in Cook’s City, they would certainly not be this lacking in confidence.
According to intelligence, Mad Dragon had not appeared.
The strongest from Seven Clouds Academy was only Templeton Lena.
But compared to those powerful figures, Templeton Lena’s combat ability was negligible.
They just needed to wait for Deep Cold to arrive, and Seven Clouds Academy’s doom wouldn’t be far off.
But right now, they had to look out for themselves.
"Misunderstanding?" Julius Reed sneered, "Since it’s a misunderstanding, then if I accidentally hurt you, that’s also a misunderstanding."
Swoosh!
No sooner had the words left his lips, he pinched the box of hidden weapons and smashed it into the nose of the blond man in front of him.
"Ow!"
Following a scream, the man stumbled to the ground, blood gushing from his nose.
And the people from the surrounding tents all stood up.
Each one had a fierce glint in their eyes.
There were about thirty of them, each clenching a weapon.
"Misunderstanding."
Julius Reed threw the box of hidden weapons to the ground, picked up the bottle of vodka, and poured it over the man’s face.
Blood and wounds, when stimulated by alcohol, were excruciating.
The man grasped the ground with his hands, unable to stop himself from crying out.
"Worry about discussing Seven Clouds Academy behind our backs in the future, or I’ll crack your skull."
Crack!
After smashing the vodka bottle in his hand, Julius Reed strode away.
"Wait and see! If you survive tonight, I’ll take your surname!" The blond man quickly took out a water bottle and began washing his face wounds.
"Gold, when is Deep Cold coming?"
He asked out loud.
"In another half hour, Black Wolf’s brother Black Tiger will bring the elite of Deep Cold here," his companion replied.
"Then let him live for another half hour!"
The blond man took a deep breath and pounded the ground hard with his fists.
