Chapter 1182: Chapter 1182: True Appearance

Inside the grand hall of Shadow Gate, the atmosphere was heavy.

The lights above were bright, casting shifting shadows of the figures below.

Devlin stood at the entrance to the grand hall, tightly surrounded by Cyber members.

Not far from them,

Julius Reed held the Great Zhou Lanyi Sword, standing in the center of the hall.

The disciples from Seven Clouds Academy around him wore expressions filled with murderous intent!

Traitors!

Devlin was a traitor!

Shadow Gate was a traitor!

During the time of internal strife and external threats at Seven Clouds Academy, these traitors took the core disciples and left one after another.

Even the leader of Shadow Gate took people to join the forces attacking Seven Clouds Academy.

This enmity, Templeton Lena would never forget.

"Devlin!"

Templeton Lena stepped forward, holding a longsword in his hand.

The tip of the sword, pointing towards Devlin in the crowd, "If you’re a man, come out and duel with me!"

He wanted to personally slay this traitor!

Only by doing so, could he release the hatred in his heart.

"What era do you think this is?" Devlin took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it calmly, "Still dueling like ancient samurais. Do you want a set of hidden weapons so we can play Russian roulette?"

He snorted lightly, his tone filled with disdain.

However, the hand lighting the cigarette was trembling slightly.

The taste of capsizing in the gutter, indeed, was difficult to bear.

"Damn it! You really are determined to see this to the bitter end!" Templeton Lena lifted the longsword, furious like thunder, "Attack! Kill these traitors!"

"I’ll do it."

Before the disciples of Seven Clouds Academy could move, Julius Reed pushed Templeton Lena aside and headed straight for Devlin.

"Since you don’t want to speak, I’ll make you!"

After saying that, he fiercely smashed his sword forward!

Clang!

With the longsword drawn,

The Cyber member at the very front was pierced through the body by the longsword.

Slish!

Then, Julius Reed flicked upward!

The Cyber member was sent flying, its steel skeleton scattering on the ground.

Dead on the spot.

Gulp...

The rest swallowed hard, instinctively stepping back.

But behind them was a thick iron door.

There was no way to retreat.

"Hold on."

Just then, Devlin spoke again.

His right hand held a cigarette, pushing the Cyber members in front of him away and standing less than three meters from Julius Reed.

"Subordinate, greets the Holy Master."

Devlin crushed the still burning cigarette in his hand, kneeling on both knees within the grand hall.

"These people are innocent. I hope the Holy Master can give me a chance, to let them serve you."

He pointed towards the dozens of Cyber members fashioned from steel behind him, pleading softly.

Completely devoid of his former glory.

"Take off your mask."

Julius Reed spoke indifferently.

Yet, his hand holding the sword was pointing at him.

It seemed this sword could pierce forth at any moment.

"I have no patience. So please, do not test me." Julius Reed took a step forward, ready to take matters into his own hands and reveal Devlin’s true face.

Long-term amnesia had caused him to forget what Devlin truly looked like.

But Julius Reed clearly remembered that before coming to Seven Clouds Academy, Devlin did not mask his face in black all day as he did now.

He had been concealing his true identity ever since he arrived at the Seven Clouds Academy, for some purpose.

But Julius Reed couldn’t remember.

"Holy Master!"

Devlin, who had been kneeling on the ground, suddenly raised his head and cried out in agony, "Please let your subordinate finish speaking!"

He stood up violently and pointed at Templeton Lena like a maniac, "They are all traitors of the Seven Clouds Academy! And I am the one who is most loyal to you!"

"This world! Everyone is deceiving you! Only I, Devlin, am loyal with all my heart! From the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance to the Seven Clouds Academy! Every step was arranged by you! And now, you actually want to kill me?"

"I am willing to die to prove my innocence! But, I am not willing to accept this!" 𝓃𝓸𝓋𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝒸ℴ𝓶

Devlin said with a voice filled with sorrow.

He tilted his head back and didn’t move.

It seemed as if he had accepted reality.

"Shut your bullshit!"

Templeton Lena, holding a steel knife, made a move to chop him down.

"Restrain yourself!"

Clang!

Julius Reed intercepted Templeton Lena with a sword, "A living Devlin is meaningful to me. A dead one is worthless! I don’t need a corpse, I need the truth."

"Yes!"

Templeton Lena stepped back unwillingly, his eyes filled with towering hatred, "If you, Mad Dragon, want to kill him, please let me do it myself!"

"Alright."

Julius Reed nodded and said nothing more.

He turned around and looked at Devlin, saying coldly, "I indeed personally placed you in the Seven Clouds Academy and arranged for you to join a special operations team. But why, why did you betray us?"

After speaking, the longsword was already pressed against Devlin’s mask.

With just a little force, it could be broken open,

Revealing the real face beneath the mask.

"Look, it’s pointless now," Devlin shook his head, "Back then to enter the Seven Clouds Academy and carry out your plan, I personally disfigured my entire face. Otherwise, do you think I’d like wearing a mask, scurrying like a rat in the sewers, living in constant fear?"

"But, there’s something I want to say."

Devlin had his hands clasped behind his back, seemingly indifferent to the fact that his mask was slowly being torn apart.

"I am a piece that you placed with your own hands. But the player, you, have forgotten me. Every day that you don’t regain your memory is a day my innocence remains in question!"

After these words, the sword in Julius Reed’s hand slowly stopped.

He had thought about this issue before.

Venassa Pine and Templeton Lena were the two people he trusted the most.

Almost all matters had to go through Venassa Pine’s hands.

But it seemed...

He had originally hidden it from everyone when he assigned Devlin to this little squad.

So much so that the Seven Clouds Academy didn’t have any record of Devlin at all.

Then what was the reason for this act?

Julius Reed didn’t believe he had just had a brain spasm and made such a decision.

He had also doubted whether Devlin was really one of his own.

But without the recovery of his memory, there was no truth to the matter.

"The mask on my face can be taken off. But please have them turn around. Once my identity is exposed, I will face unprecedented danger. And the good game of chess you’ve been playing will be ruined because of it."

Devlin clasped his hands together and bowed deeply, "I boldly request to let them scatter! Let me talk to you privately."

"Do not believe his nonsense!"

Templeton Lena, holding a steel knife, wished he could just split Devlin in two!

"This traitor, spewing nothing but lies! Such a sly and cunning person deserves severe punishment! We shall see whether his iron-clad teeth are stronger, or my knife!"

The last time in the capital, when Brysen Beaumont and Julius Reed had their battle on the northwest path, Templeton Lena watched helplessly as Devlin escaped right under his nose!

Now, he couldn’t make the same mistake a second time!

"Turn around."

Julius Reed gestured with his hand.

The disciples of the Seven Clouds Academy and members of Cyber turned around, facing away from the two.

"My sword, it only takes an instant to kill you."

Julius Reed spoke indifferently.

"Please, Holy Master, take a look!"

Slash!

Devlin reached out with both hands, furiously tearing off the mask on his face!
