Chapter 1207: Chapter 1207: Scoundrel of a Ruined Family
"Mother, Finnegan Springs and his wife went too far, I lost my composure."
Nelson stood before Dawson Carmichael, head lowered like a little girl who had done something wrong.
Yet, there was not a hint of remorse in her tone.
"Moreover, I know you don’t like my boyfriend, but let me make this clear - apart from him, I like no one else!"
After saying this, Nelson raised her head, defiantly looking at Dawson Carmichael.
She had never defied her adoptive mother before; this was the first time.
"It doesn’t matter." Dawson Carmichael looked at Julius Reed, narrowed her eyes, and asked, "Can you, treat her well?"
"No."
Julius Reed’s response almost made the mother and daughter choke in fury.
Fortunately, Nelson was already accustomed to it.
But Dawson Carmichael, was somewhat irritated.
"However, I can assure you she won’t be bullied."
Julius Reed added.
"Mother, he treats me very well. He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Besides you and Master, he’s the nicest to me." Nelson moved behind Dawson Carmichael, gently massaging her shoulders, clearly trying to win her favor.
One man, one sword, wiped out Medicine King Valley.
In the midst of despair, when Nelson saw Julius Reed’s figure, she knew she hadn’t made a mistake.
This medicine!
Must be administered!
Even Nelson felt it was administered too late.
Good things, the people you love, you have to fight for them!
That’s the principle of the people from Azure Mountain.
"Why not be candid?" Dawson Carmichael ignored Nelson’s words and looked at Julius Reed with a hint of interrogation, "We met last night. I wasn’t mistaken, was I?"
There was nobody else in the room.
This was the usual office of Branley Sinclair, with no chance of surveillance or recording devices.
Although Dawson Carmichael was down on her luck, she still had a good understanding of Branley Sinclair’s temper and character.
"You... when have you met before?" Nelson was stunned.
Wasn’t this their first meeting?
Recalling Dawson Carmichael’s recent actions, she sensed there must be something she didn’t know about.
"We’ve met, but it’s not important."
Julius Reed pulled up a chair and sat down.
"Did you just think that I was her man?"
"Correct! But now, I don’t think so," Dawson Carmichael replied, "Branley Sinclair would never let someone slap her, even if it’s a ruse."
"Are you so sure?" Julius Reed smiled, "Perhaps, I was just banking on that presumption of yours."
"I’m sure! Because I know Branley Sinclair too well." Dawson Carmichael said confidently, "You and she are not of the same stripe. But why did you claim to be Finnegan Springs’s friend last night?"
Now recalling the conversation they had when they met, it seemed to carry another meaning.
"Because I wasn’t certain whether you were in league with them," Julius Reed flicked his fingers, looking at Dawson Carmichael, "I’m not interested in meddling with your family issues. But as I said earlier, I won’t let her be bullied. If you are with them, I might just quietly dispose of you."
"Nelson, you’ve chosen the right person." Dawson Carmichael nodded, sighed, and said, "Take her and flee far away. Leave Star City and never return. Pretend, if you will, that I am dead."
"Mother!"
Nelson clenched her lips tightly, sounding somewhat anxious, "What are you talking about!"
"Just talking."
Julius Reed chuckled lightly, "Branley Sinclair will never let things go easily. Perhaps, you could try trusting me."
"What exactly are you talking about!"
Nelson grew more confused as he listened, unavoidably feeling a bit irritated.
"Go outside, and keep an eye on the people outside. I need to have a good talk with your foster mother."
Julius Reed said gently as he watched Nelson.
"Mom, he is the person I trust the most, and you can trust him too."
Even though Nelson didn’t fully understand what was happening, he knew that Julius Reed must be doing the right thing.
After giving some instructions, he turned around and left.
"Why did you let him go?" Once Nelson had left, Dawson Carmichael looked at Julius Reed and began coldly.
She hesitated, pondered, and struggled.
"Some things are better left unknown to him. This child is irritable and lacks patience," Julius Reed explained with a shake of his head, smiling. "But that’s how most Azure Mountain people are—hot-headed and warlike, a bunch of brainless folks."
If outsiders had heard this, they would have been shocked!
To denigrate the esteemed Azure Mountain in such a way!
"Years ago, the Sinclair family allied themselves with an organization called ’Imperial Court.’ Later, Branley Sinclair and Finnegan Springs promised themselves to each other. As an aunt, I helped Finnegan Springs propose marriage. It seemed like a suitable match at the time."
Dawson Carmichael’s expression steadily worsened as he spoke.
"Who would have guessed this was the beginning of a disaster!"
"Less than a month after getting married, Branley Sinclair brought a strange man to see me. He claimed he was from the Imperial Court, wanting to lure me in."
"The Donovan Family has been a powerful family for generations, with ties to the martial world and various sects. But the Imperial Court is different from those groups."
"I declined. Firstly, I was getting on in years; secondly, I wanted the Donovan Family to lead a peaceful life. But little did I know, the nightmare had just begun."
"Finnegan Springs, blinded by Branley Sinclair’s deception, even turned against me! My most trusted nephew, secretly replaced my bodyguards while I was unaware."
"As a result, the second time Branley Sinclair came with people from the Imperial Court to persuade me, I refused. That very night, I was put under house arrest. And since Finnegan Springs had always been my assistant, intimately familiar with corporate affairs, he swiftly took over management as soon as I was out of the picture."
"Take Nelson and leave; it’s not safe here."
A murderous intent flashed across Dawson Carmichael’s face!
"You want to destroy everything." Seeing his expression, Julius Reed spoke, "If you died, Nelson would be heartbroken."
"It’s better than all dying together."
Dawson Carmichael appeared somewhat relieved. "It was my mistake for trusting the wrong person."
"Tell me about the Imperial Court; maybe I can help you." Julius Reed was curious; this so-called "Imperial Court," what exactly was it?
"I’ve only met an envoy from the Imperial Court twice. Apparently, they are former royals who, for some reason, were forced to come here. But the time for them to restore their nation is not far," Dawson Carmichael tried to recall, combined with her own investigations as she patiently explained to Julius Reed.
"I’ll handle this matter." Julius Reed walked up to Dawson Carmichael, took a piece of paper and a pen, and hastily drew a golden dragon.
"Do you recognize this?"
After finishing, he put the pen and paper back.
"This..." Dawson Carmichael pondered for a moment, then suddenly her eyes widened, "Imperial Court people seem to have this symbol on them!"
"So it’s the North Sea."
Julius Reed walked to the window, his back to her as he looked down on Star City.
"I thought what this Imperial Court was. Turns out it’s just a run of stray dogs."
This would explain why the Town North King had traveled all the way to Star City.
"Stay here and don’t worry. For Nelson’s sake, I will resolve everything for you." After saying this, Julius Reed pushed the door open and left.
His foot had just left the office.
Suddenly, Julius Reed’s phone rang.
