"Hand over the Necronomicon, and I will spare your life!"
A low chant echoed back and forth in Daniel’s ear.
His eyes were glued to the container, but the mummy inside remained still, showing no signs of abnormality. Where was this voice coming from?
Confused, Daniel quickly approached the Abel and Allen brothers.
"Did you guys hear anything?"
Allen looked puzzled, "Hear what?"
The brothers looked at Daniel blankly, clearly not understanding what he meant.
It seemed they didn’t hear anything.
Daniel suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, even disbelief.
Even if an alien suddenly appeared before him, he wouldn’t feel this way.
Because that still falls within the realm of science, something understandable.
But what was happening now was bizarre and supernatural.
When confronted with the unknown, people tend to feel fear to varying degrees.
That’s what Daniel was experiencing now.
He turned abruptly, intending to flee, but before he could even take a step, he paused when he heard Robert’s voice from behind.
"The observation time is up, anyone want to place the first bid?"
Almost simultaneously, the low chanting in his ear dissipated.
Daniel looked at Robert with surprise.
Robert was scanning the crowd as usual, looking for any treasure hunter willing to bid, looking perfectly normal, without any anomalies.
Was he overthinking?
Daniel turned back around.
Although he still wanted to leave, his curiosity made him stay.
He wanted to see who would end up with this mummy.
Matt was the first to bid, "6000 StellarCoins."
His high starting bid showed his great interest in the container.
It was a price he gave after discussing with Emilia.
Although this price was high enough to deter the new treasure hunters, it wasn’t enough for the veterans.
Abel promptly followed, quoting a price of 8000.
The triplet brothers looked at each other and smiled.
Though they didn’t think highly of these props, there was still room to make a profit at the current price.
Hence, the eldest raised his hand and shouted, "10,000 StellarCoins!"
Just within three rounds, the price reached ten thousand and was still rising.
Daniel had no interest in the auction, he was just silently watching.
Before long, the bidding price had already surpassed thirty thousand.
At this point, only Matt and the triplet brothers remained.
Both parties had their sights set on the container, so it was a head-to-head competition.
"Matt, you might as well give up now," said the youngest of the brothers.
Matt scoffed, "Auctions are about financial strength, not the ability to bluster.
If you want me to back out, show me what you’ve got." With that, Matt raised the bid by another ten thousand.
"40,000 StellarCoins!"
The triplet brothers hesitated.
The second brother muttered, "This price is already quite high."
"If we go any higher, we won’t make a profit."
The third brother nodded in agreement.
The oldest brother frowned.
They hadn’t made any deals today and he was reluctant to give up.
But knowing Matt’s troublemaker nature, he realized that further dispute would be pointless.
Thus, the oldest brother waved his hand dismissively.
Robert, standing at the front of the crowd, saw this and understood their intention.
Forty thousand StellarCoins was a decent price, so he was ready to announce the result.
"40,000 StellarCoins for the first time!"
"40,000 StellarCoins for the second time!"
"..."
Just then, Daniel suddenly stood up, "50,000 StellarCoins!"
Robert’s face immediately brightened.
Matt, on the other hand, was fuming.
"F*ck!" He shouted at Daniel, "Daniel, do we have beef?"
"Why are you always against me?"
Daniel remained impassive and didn’t respond.
He originally didn’t want to bid.
After all, he still wasn’t sure if the voice came from the mummy.
But for that very reason, he decided to secure this container.
He suddenly understood that everything that came out of the containers was valuable.
He could have the system recover it, whether the mummy could speak or even move.
With this realization, Daniel felt less intimidated.
Moreover, securing the mummy could clear up his doubts.
Seeing Daniel remain silent, Robert turned to Matt, "Daniel’s bid is at 50,000 StellarCoins, Matt. If you don’t raise the bid, I’m going to declare the result."
Matt glared at Daniel, gritting his teeth in anger.
But he understood that the value of the container wouldn’t exceed 60,000 StellarCoins.
Bidding further would only lead to a loss.
With that in mind, Matt waved his hand in resignation.
"I’m not bidding anymore!"
Seeing this, Robert had no choice but to announce, "Congratulations to Daniel for winning the second container of the day!"
With a solemn expression, Daniel walked into the container and looked at the mummy.
The closer he got, the faster his heart pounded, as if it was about to explode.
Meanwhile, the low chant that just echoed rang out again.
"Hand over the Necronomicon! Hand over the Necronomicon! Hand over the Necronomicon!"
Like a demonic murmur, it echoed in his ears, his mind, and under the sky.
Daniel felt a wave of dizziness, his head buzzing.
Luckily, Allen, who had followed out of curiosity, swiftly caught Daniel.
He pulled Daniel out of the container and sat him down on a chair provided by the staff, asking anxiously, "Qin, are you okay?"
At this moment, Daniel’s pupils constricted, his face reflecting horror.
It’s it! It was speaking! The mummy!!!
Daniel was drenched in cold sweat, his clothes damp from perspiration.
He took deep breaths of air, suppressing the fear in his heart.
Seeing that something was wrong, Abel also came over.
Seeing Daniel’s condition, he took out his phone, "I’m calling an ambulance!"
Daniel didn’t object.
Right now, he just wanted to get away from this place, away from that mummy.
Each of its murmurs felt like a curse, causing a relentless headache.
Soon, with the support of the Allen brothers, Daniel got onto the ambulance.
The crowd didn’t mourn Daniel’s departure, but instead rejoiced secretly, as they had lost a strong competitor.
No one noticed that the mummy inside the container was eyeing the direction Daniel left in.
...
Daniel opened his eyes to see Sophia sleeping on his arm.
Abel walked in and seeing Daniel awake, he exclaimed joyfully, "You’re awake!"
The noise also woke up the sleeping Sophia.
She lifted her head groggily and upon seeing Daniel awake, tears immediately streamed down her face.
She threw herself onto Daniel, crying out, "You’re finally awake."
Daniel patted Sophia’s head, smiling, "I only took a nap, there’s no need to worry so much, right?"
Abel said, "That wasn’t a nap, you were unconscious for three whole days!"
Daniel was taken aback, "I was unconscious for three days?!"
That was something he hadn’t expected.
Abel nodded, "A TV crew dropped off an invitation for you earlier. I didn’t let them in because I thought you were still unconscious."
With that, Abel handed Daniel a hard paper card.
Daniel comforted Sophia before picking up the invitation with curiosity.
It only contained two brief sentences.
"Mr. Daniel is cordially invited to participate in the recording of our show on July 21. We will be waiting for your arrival at Mauritania International Airport.
The ’Wild Treasure Hunt’ Production Team."
Daniel was puzzled, "What kind of show is this? I’ve never heard of it."
Abel explained, "I looked it up, and the planner of this show is a fairly well-known director. He planned the popular wilderness survival show from a few years ago. I heard he invited several appraisers to participate in the show. I guess your recent fame made them extend an invitation to you as well."
Daniel tossed the card aside, "Whoever wants to go can go."
Seeing this, Abel quickly picked it up, "Don’t just toss it! They said the appearance fee is generous!"
Daniel asked skeptically, "How much?"
Abel replied, "They didn’t mention an exact amount, but they clearly stated that any treasure found during the recording of the show will belong to the one who found it."
Daniel was about to say that it couldn’t be that easy to find treasure.
But he suddenly thought of something and snatched the invitation from Abel.
His eyes were tightly fixed on it, "Mauritania!"
The place where Elkampen found the fragment of the Atlantis teleportation tablet!
What a coincidence!
It seemed he had no choice but to participate in the show.
After the mummy incident, he didn’t feel like going to the port to attend auctions for a while.
...
Golden Shores, RGB Bar.
After Lexio’s death, the bar never reopened.
At this moment, the bar was brightly lit.
In the hall, there was only a slightly thin, middle-aged man in a suit, gently swaying in the dance floor.
There was no music, but his dance movements still had a strong sense of rhythm.
A man in black quietly approached the middle-aged man and respectfully said, "Hilton, the invitation has been delivered."
The middle-aged man didn’t stop dancing, his eyes closed, he asked, "Has he accepted?"
The man in black replied, "I didn’t speak with him directly, but it looks like he’ll go."
Hilton, with his eyes closed, showed a cold smile on his face.
He was very satisfied with this outcome.
