Chapter 332: Chapter 156: The Storm_3
Su Huai also had a great time, so he didn’t find it noisy or boisterous, only exhilarating.
After the big chorus, the bonfire slowly died down. Everyone, having had their fill of fun, gradually dispersed. Su Huai, Gu Jiuyue, and their classmates from the big data class had spent a passionate and romantic, enchanting night.
After going to bed early, they set off at 3 a.m. the next day on a cruise headed straight to Yongfu Island to attend the national flag-raising ceremony at the southernmost tip of their motherland.
As soon as they landed on the island, the first thing everyone saw was two sentinels.
They stood facing south, perfectly upright in a simple rocky guardhouse, without blinking an eye.
The boys and girls muttered to each other on the side.
"Have they been standing there all night?"
"It seems even tougher over here."
"What should we do?"
"Do what?"
"I want to give them a bottle of water, but would that disturb them?"
Su Huai quickly stopped them, "Don’t, it’s not appropriate, just salute them."
Then Gao and Er Gao immediately jumped out and saluted, looking quite the part.
Everyone had thought that was the end of it, as they were unaware of the rules and regulations of standing guard. But to their surprise, the two soldiers promptly turned around, faced everyone, and removed the white gloves from their hands to stand at attention and return the salute.
In an instant, a murmur spread through the crowd, and the classmates from the big data class felt an indescribable shock.
In this place, which was almost an uninhabited island, and at the very southernmost, rarely populated tip of their country, there was still a force protecting them. Ask, and you shall get an echo; this was an immense happiness.
During the flag-raising ceremony, the students were noticeably more solemn.
So was Su Huai.
This experience and inner feeling might sound overblown, but the pride that swelled within them as they watched the red flag being raised was undeniably genuine.
After it ended, an accompanying official asked with a big smile, "Students, how do you feel?"
The rationale for their application had been "to receive patriotic education," and now, it was time for a conclusion. Naturally, when faced with such a question, they hesitated, they all wanted to answer but didn’t know how, fearing they might say something inappropriate for the occasion.
So, they turned their gaze to Su Huai.
Come on, class president, it’s your turn to step up!
Su Huai pondered for two seconds, then raised his head and loudly replied, "There’s no need to always spout patriotism; living your life well is always the most important thing.
Our generation is rebellious, detesting top-down orders, but in such a special place, experiencing such meaningful events, our hearts will naturally develop a sentiment—I am proud of my country, my people, and my lineage.
So, this is the best patriotism education.
On behalf of the entire 2016 big data class from the Information Institute of Capital Normal University, I want to thank you for your support, thank you and the many soldiers guarding our borders for your great contribution to the nation and the people, and thank you for today’s solid and meaningful lesson!"
Under Su Huai’s lead, all students from the big data class saluted the soldiers once again.
The image of the soldiers returning the salute would forever be imprinted in the students’ hearts...
After leaving the island, the atmosphere gradually warmed up and became lively again.
Young people, after all, experience the ebb and flow of emotions quickly; it’s important to have fun when it’s time to play, and after a good night’s sleep, it is a new day.
Their destination was the last stop of the Sansha Trip, the Yongle Archipelago.
To put it simply: This was a pristine sea area and group of natural islands, more beautiful and untouched than the Maldives.
Small islands, shoals, atolls, lagoons, glass seas, coral clusters, precious tropical fish...
The most splendid aspects one imagines of the ocean, all were here.
And this was the true ultimate marine playground for the Sansha Trip—no crowds, no tourists dropping in droves, a whole class taking over seven islands and a sea, ready to romp wherever they desired...
Su Huai could even take Gu Jiuyue, just the two of them, to go ashore for a deserted island survival show, or dive into the sea to cosplay as the mermaid princess and the playboy, under the vast sky on the broad earth... cough cough, it’s going off-track, reel it back in!
Su Huai genuinely had no such intentions towards Gu Jiuyue, too hesitant to make a move, fearing she would break in his arms.
But just splashing around with the little fairy was joy enough, and the Yongle Archipelago was exactly the place to amplify such joy.
He even teased with a mysterious prelude, "This afternoon, I have a surprise for you."
Despite Gu Jiuyue’s persistent inquiries, he refused to divulge anything.
Gu Jiuyue’s anticipation was hung high, wishing time could fast forward a few hours.
But at that moment, Gu Tongshu also boarded his private plane.
He was done with his business.
Wu, upon receiving the notification, suddenly dropped her auntie-like smile. She unconsciously glanced at Miss Gu and Little Su sitting underneath the parasol side by side and sensed a storm brewing...
