Chapter 109: Chapter 109 Unfinished Business II
Boss suddenly stood from his seat, his expression twisted with frustration and barely contained fury. His eyes locked on Lilith as he jabbed a finger in her direction.
"I swear—she has something to do with it! She ordered the assault on my labs!"
His voice rang across the court like a gunshot, sharp and accusing.
Lilith didn’t flinch.
She remained perfectly still, her arms folded under her chest, a calm, confident smile curling across her lips.
She knew the truth, and more importantly—she knew they didn’t.
They had no idea it was Liam.
What kind of lunatic would ever believe that one man—alone—took out four heavily guarded drug labs?
No, they would never even consider it.
She let the silence linger, then slowly tilted her head with that dangerous glint in her eyes.
Lady Viora, sitting with quiet authority at the center of the group, finally spoke.
"What do you have to say about this incident, Lilith?" she asked, her voice calm and collected, yet commanding.
Lilith shifted her weight slightly, placing one hand on her hip.
"Why would I order my people to bring down his labs?" she said smoothly. "Everybody’s been minding their business. I have no beef with him... nor his operations."
Boss let out a sharp scoff, his face red with frustration.
Then, another man stood.
It was Li—the short man with white hair and a diagonal scar that ran from above his right eyebrow to his left cheek. He looked rough, old-school, the kind of man who had survived more bloodbaths than he could remember.
The moment he rose to his feet, Lilith’s eyes sharpened.
She furrowed her brows.
Li’s voice was rough, deep like gravel. "So... we’re supposed to believe you weren’t involved in any of the attacks?"
Lilith gave a slow, deliberate nod. "In fact... yes."
Li’s eyes narrowed. "Bullshit."
He stepped forward, pointing now as well.
"Who else has the power to wipe out four Crimson Hand drug labs in our territory without anyone knowing? Apart from you, Lilith?"
Lilith let out a soft laugh, cool and carefree. She shrugged her shoulders.
"I don’t know," she said. "Ask him, not me."
She pointed directly at Boss.
Everyone turned to look.
Boss’s mouth opened slightly. His face twisted with disbelief.
"You’re saying... I was responsible for my own misfortune?"
Lilith smirked. "Well, someone obviously didn’t like you. So... who did you piss off lately?"
There was a brief silence.
Lady Viora’s voice sliced through it. "Boss, did you offend anyone recently?"
Boss shook his head furiously. "No. Of course not! Nobody!"
Then, in a fit of anger, he slammed both hands down on his lap with a loud smack.
"This is bullshit! Lilith should be held responsible already! What are we even questioning?!"
Lady Viora slowly turned her head toward him.
Her brows furrowed—just slightly.
But that was all it took.
Boss’s blood visibly ran cold.
Liam saw it.
The man’s face turned pale. His hands trembled faintly on his knees. All the fire and anger he just had disappeared like smoke. It was like something inside him had snapped.
He was afraid.
Not just cautious. Not just nervous.
He feared Lady Viora.
Liam watched the scene closely, confused. Who exactly was this woman?
She didn’t say much, and yet one look from her was enough to shut down a man like Boss.
He glanced over at Lilith. She stood calmly, not in the least surprised by what just happened. In fact, Lady Viora’s small defense almost seemed like... loyalty.
They’re close, Liam thought.
That only deepened his curiosity.
Who was Lady Viora really?
And how much power did she hold... even over people like Boss?
Li’s voice rang through the tense air.
"Lilith should be held accountable for her actions already."
The moment those words left his mouth, Boss straightened, his confidence returning like water filling a cup. As long as Li backed him up, he had nothing to fear—not even from Lady Viora.
Lady Viora, however, remained unfazed. Slowly, she turned to the old man sitting quietly beside her. His face was calm, unreadable, but his presence held a strange weight. Everyone went silent when he shifted, his very breath demanding attention.
"I believe you’ve conducted a private investigation on the case?" Lady Viora asked, her voice polite but firm.
The old man stood.
Nobody in the entire council ever questioned him.
Because his words were considered truth.
Always.
With a voice that was calm and clear, he began, "I have. And after thorough investigation, I can confirm... Lilith had no hand in the Crimson Hand’s recent misfortunes."
A heavy silence fell.
Boss furrowed his brows, clenching his jaw.
What the fuck is this old man talking about? His expression twitched in disbelief.
Li, not convinced, narrowed his eyes.
"Are you absolutely sure?" he asked.
The old man didn’t even blink. "I am."
He continued, "On the night the labs were attacked, Lilith was at home the entire time. She gave no orders, made no moves. Black Lotus showed no activity at all that night. Nothing unusual."
Lilith sat with her legs crossed, her face serene. But Liam could tell she was paying close attention. Every word mattered now.
Li snorted with annoyance, obviously displeased with the answer. He leaned back in his seat, arms folded tightly.
But then, the old man added, "However... there was something I found strange."
All eyes turned to him again. Even Lilith’s brows twitched slightly.
Liam leaned forward, just a little.
"What was it?" Lady Viora asked.
The old man didn’t look at her—he looked at Lilith.
"She had a visitor that night," he said slowly. "Shortly before the incident occurred."
Boss’s eyes widened instantly. "She got visited? By who?"
The old man turned his head... and raised a single finger toward Liam.
The entire room froze.
Liam didn’t even blink. His expression stayed neutral. Then, very casually, he let out a chuckle.
"Wait... are you saying I destroyed four drug labs?" he asked mockingly, his voice full of disbelief, even amusement. "Really?"
A few people exchanged glances. Some even snickered. The thought was absurd. Liam was young, new to the underworld, and no matter how charming he looked, he didn’t exactly scream mass murderer.
Even Boss gritted his teeth at the mockery—but he didn’t speak. He was watching Liam, eyes narrowed.
Li, however, wasn’t letting go.
He leaned forward, his voice sharp. "What business do you have visiting Lilith that late at night? We all know she’s your leader, but... that kind of visit? It’s unheard of."
Before Liam could even part his lips, something unexpected happened.
Lilith moved.
She turned in her seat, her eyes locking onto Liam’s with a teasing glint. Then, without a word, she reached out, placing her palm gently on his cheek.
He turned to her in surprise—just in time for her lips to press against his.
It was soft. So soft it nearly took his breath away.
Her lips were like silk, warm and smooth, melting into his. For a second, everything else disappeared—no meeting, no tension, just the feel of her mouth on his.
Liam didn’t move. He didn’t even think. All he could register was her breath, her scent, the softness of her hand against his face. It was so tender... yet bold. Passionate... yet calculated.
And then, just as suddenly as she began, she pulled away.
Lilith turned to Li, her voice steady, eyes sparkling.
"Is there a rule," she said, "that forbids me from having a relationship with someone in my own gang?"
Her tone was light, almost playful—but the threat behind it was sharp and unmistakable.
The room was dead silent.
Boss looked like he just swallowed a lemon. Li’s jaw tightened.
And Liam?
He just smirked.
Lilith was playing a dangerous game—but damn if she didn’t know exactly how to win.
