"Less than human? That’s so vague" Leon frowned.
In the eyes of a mage, warlocks were considered less than human, sorcerers were less than human. Less than human was a pretty wide spectrum.
"Yes…. I don’t know the exact details but something along the line of giving up energy usage for something shitty" Carlson could remember what his father said about the old man of the feystone family.
"Unnecessary and stupid, why would you trade your chances at reaching the top with a little bit of lifespan? I Wonder why the duan royal family even supports him"
"How strong would you estimate him?" This was the most important question. If this person were a level 4, he would just pack up and leave duan city. There was no way in hell he’d fight one of those guys with this level of power.
"I’m not sure, my old man said it’s tough to know who would win between them since he had been in seclusion for over 25 years. But he did note that the old man had been declining in health for years, so maybe at the same level as a level 3 middle stage mage?"
Carlson’s father was a middle stage level 3 mage, if he wasn’t sure about beating this brute of duan city then….perhaps they were of the same power level.
"Ahh, I think he’s done with this session" after a few minutes of speaking to Carlson, Leon fell into a deep thought and was later pulled out by Carlson.
Carlson’s father was almost done forging Leon’s weapon.
"Now for the grand finale" he said while holding two middle-sized daggers chained together at their hilts. What he needed to do now was to inscribe the weapons with rune circuits and see if the design would at least hold.
Rune circuits were the building blocks of a magic weapon. Just the weapon alone was nothing without the rune circuits, they determined the flow of mana and the special properties of the weapon at hand.
Before Carlson knew it, Leon had walked towards his father and was now stalking him with his eyes focused on the circuit in front of him.
"Hmm!!" Noticing Leon, Carlson’s father nodded and began writing the circuits.
He had tried several times and failed, but this time with Leon, the designer of this weapon, by his side the chances of success were higher than ever.
"Hoos, Elongate metalos"
After inscribing his first rune of the chain connecting the weapons, Carlson’s father sent in mana causing it to light up.
"Hoos, Sharpenous Edgnious"
The next rune was placed. no𝚟𝚙u𝚋.c𝚘m
"Hoos, morph Shapen":
For a weapon this small, the number of runes being placed was quite a lot. Runes needed mana to work and for that to happen An energy storage gem was needed, but the size had to fit the demand. This was where Leon’s genius of placing 3 at the hilt of each dagger came.
But even with that, the appropriate rune circuits were needed at the very least, if not the weapon would just explode in your face.
"Hoos...."
"Hoos...."
Inscription after Inscription were placed and activated, slowly but surely….it was to a point where the guys working at the Smithy stopped what they were doing to go see the master at work.
"The mana usage is Insane"
"I wish I was as skilled"
"The master at work is always a sight of magnificence"
The other smiths commented. The past few days, they had been graced with several situations where the master forger had engaged in forging.
It was a learning experience for all of them….but this time was a bit different.
"Hm?" At the opposite side of the long pathway under the waterfall, an old man with green hair looked across with some curiosity. The guys around him couldn’t sense it, but he could.
A magic treasure was about to be born….but this one was a bit different.
"Direct, let me go over and see our friend across the path" the elder with green hair said before proceeding to stand up and walk over. One distinct feature of this man was his left arm….it was gone, replaced by a sheathed sword.
"Hoos, energy burst explosion!!" Carlson father said and with one last push of mana. A small explosion of dust occurred, forcing the Carlson’s father to involuntarily step back.
"Did it fail?" He thought to himself. He had tried to create this weapon a few times and each time he had failed.....was this a repeat?
"Nice"
While he contemplated his "failure" Leon stepped forward and reached into the cloud of black dust.
"Hmm?!!" Before Carlson’s father’s very eyes, Leon pulled out the weapon. The weapon(s) were two slightly curved daggers, bounded together by a chain. It looked simple, but elegant.
"Elongate" Leon smiled and threw one side of the dagger outwards towards the window and into the waterfall.
Surprisingly, the chain that was not more than 5ft (1.52 meters) long stretched as far as the eyes could see into the waterfall...
An elongation rune….it was mainly used by chain users to temporarily increase the length of their chains while fighting. Anan had used it against Leon Once Upon a Time.
And now Leon had his and on a magic treasure that could do just that and many more.

Soon The Dagger came flying back through the window and landed in Leon’s hand.
"This energy signature, its.....not at grade 2"
"Beautiful, a grade 3 treasure!!!’ as soon as it did, a voice resounded from the pathway as a man with green hair and a sword hand stepped through the curtains.
"Brother backhand, your forging skills are the biggest assets of a waterway family. A grade 3 treasure all by yourself. This should be placed in the family’s hall of remembrance" the old man with green hair praised.
In the waterway family, there was no concept of a family head as they were mostly tied in terms of power.
But among them there was still one that stood out in brilliance. First in his forging skills and second in his fighting abilities.
This was that elder.
