" Hmmm, I knew he would betray me, but could he be so stupid to do so with you as his backing? Tell me mage, how many times have I gotten away from you?" The sorcerer looked at the great mage and asked.

He had tussled with the Damein 10s of times during the past few weeks and not even once had Damien come close to capturing him.

"It doesn’t matter sorcerer, this time it’s either you die, or I do" Damien spoke ominously. He was basically saying he was ready to go all out to kill the sorcerer, or die trying.

"This..." The sorcerer felt a chill run down his spine. A being similar to his power level was going to go so far to kill him?

You had to understand, a few hundred years ago, level 4 mages were just as scarce as level 5 beings. They were beings of ultimate power that could level wide areas of land with a flip of their palms. Fighting one to the death was not a good decision.

—woosh

So the sorcerer didn’t even think twice before running off at full speed.

"Hmp!! You won’t get away this time." Damien sneered and followed the sorcerer at full speed..

—Boom

—Boom

A sonic wave resounded as both level 4 existences blasted out of the faystone family household.

(I have to get away....can’t stay)

The sorcerer thought in his mind while blasting off with all his speed. Contrary to what others thought, he wasn’t actually a level 4 sorcerer.

At least not a full fledge one. He was merely pushing himself to the level using a forbidden technique at the risk of his own soul.

This was the reason he had to run, a forced level 4 sorcerer couldn’t easily stand against a full fledged level 4 existence, especially one that had given up everything to fight to the death.

"A crowded place, good!!!"

While trying desperately to lose Damien, the sorcerer flew near a crowded area. This was where he would usually lose Damien.

This wasn’t their first encounter, if he could enter the crowd and shape shift then that was that.

And so he did just that.

—wooo

Like a cold, but gentle breeze, the sorcerer rushed into the crowd and disappeared.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Puuuu" a few minutes later, a kid dressed the thuggish appraisals made his way out of the crowd boisterously with shoulders out and a triumphant whistle.

People like these were all over duan city, they had appeared as a sort of mechanism to exploit and tame the desperate warlocks

In the city. A necessary evil in the eyes of the mages.

"Hm?" While the kid made his was through the crowd, he noticed a shadow flying right above him.

"A level 3 mage?" The kids eyes widened with fear. Why was he being stalked by a level 3 mage?

"Cut the crap sorcerer, your tricks have no more meaning" in the sky right above, the mage sneered and streched his hand forward.

—Boom

A ball of energy flew out from his hand and barrelled towards the kid. But in a split second the kid dodged this attack and started sprinting off with inhuman speed.

(Fuck!! How did he know it was me?)

With a frustrated glow in his eyes the sorcerer ran for his life. His hiding skills were top notch, no one had ever seen through his disguise.

(Maybe it was just a fluke?)

The sorcerer couldn’t believe it, he thought it was just luck. So he tried again, And again. Until finally, he realized that something was horribly wrong.

Damien wasn’t just able to see through his disguise, he was actively tracking him.

This was worse than he thought.

"That little bastard!! How long has he been planning this?!!" The sorcerer screamed. He couldn’t think of anyone capable of planting any sort of tracker on him other than Leon.

The kid gave off the aura of a scheming devil just from his interactions. He had even taken it a step further to try and stalk Leon, but Leon always noticed.

It might even be possible that the bastard did this the first day they met, he was panicking terribly.

—Boom

—Boom

—Boom

Beams of condensed energy bombs came flying towards the sorcerer every where he went blowing up buildings and leaving massive craters in the middle of the streets.

Soon a masisve commotion erupted in the center of duan city.

And with this commotion, the attention of other level 4 existences were drawn.

"What’s going on here?!!" A level 4 mage Rose to the sky and asked Damien.

But Damien only looked at him coldly and spat out.

"Mind your business, its a personal grudge"

Then he continued wreaking havoc chasing after the sorcerer with all his might.

"Personal grudge ?" The level 4 mage frowned. Damien had destroyed so many buildings because of a grudge...must be some grudge.

A person grudge of a level 4 mage was best left alone least you attract his hatred.

Only the royals had the power to interfer with a great mage’s grudge. They could either help him kill his prey or let him be.

Seeing the way his prey was able to avoid him, He too must be powerful. They would rather stay out of it.

As for the destruction, they would make sure it didn’t harm their infrastructure that was all they could do.

So Damien went on laying seige to the sorcerer, and the sorcerer tried his very best to escape.

Meanwhile.

"Aren’t you going to do anything about this?" On a particular roof top in the center of Duan city, an aged man inquired from a slightly younger one with a golden yellow robe.

"No, let him continue, this is an opportunity for us"

Damien refused to join the royal tardis, there was no problem with this at first, but now that things had gotten this bad they needed all the power they could get, they would go to any lengths to get him.

Even if they needed to capture him.

"Ohhh, I see" with a simple nod, the aged individual nodded. He couldn’t really argue with the head protector of the duan royal family.

Damien had fallen into the schemes of the royal family and he didn’t even know it.
