"Your highness, we have news!!"

In an open garden surrounded by the most beautiful flowers and exotic herbs, a young warlock that exuded the aura of a slithering serpent could be seen on one knee. 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝘱𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮

He was facing directly at a plain looking chair with no real uniqueness to it. However, the chair didn’t matter much, what really mattered was who was seated on it.

Duke Eylis of the Eylis Dukedom.

He had white hair and gray eyes, a chin that was broad and shoulders that were wide and gave of the feeling of an insurmountable mountain...The supreme ruler of the Dukedom and its surroundings towns and villages.

"Go on" With a callous look on his face the Duke gave the go ahead for the messenger to speak.

"Sire, the young Lords have reached the marked points, Trafagal forest and Jacquel flatland. They will be upon us in a week at most" the messenger spoke with a lot of worry on his face.

The two Lords, the only sons of the Duke had chosen a time like this to rebel againt their Lord father. It was unfair and disrespectful, but what else could they do?

They had come to them with war and would naturally be met with the wrath of the Duke.

"It’s a pity, I had hoped that we wouldn’t clash. Either way, tell the chief of defence to prepare for an all out offensive....preferably from both sides" the Duke sighed before he continued. Normally when being besieged, an army would be charged with defence.

To mount a counter offensive as the first attack meant that the Duke didn’t see his sons as a threat in the slightest.

"Yes, your highness!!" the young warlock said excitedly. The awe of the Duke, a hero amongst men and an Arm of the Undergod monastery, just his words would rile anyone up.

In a rush, the young warlock stood up and made his way out of the garden area. He has his orders, the young Lords had no pity on their father so neither will he.

"Hehe, little twats, they think they can take my throne? Fat chance!!!" After the young warlock left the garden, the look of the Duke changed from one of disappointment and sadness. To a look of greed and selfishness.

He was the Duke and had fought to establish this Dukedom on his own. If his good for nothing kids wanted the place for themselves they would have to pry it from his lifeless corpse.

"Don’t worry hubby, we will teach those spoilt brats a lesson. From beside some flowers and funa, an angelic lady with luscious golden yellow hair emerged and caressed the Dukes ears.

"Hmm yes darling .." with lecherous eyes, the the Duke grabbed the lady by the waiste and made her sit on his lap. "Now give me your body and soul" the old man buried his head between her twin peaks as the scene gradually fades.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,..

"That’s the place," Ben and Leon gazed down from atop a hill at a city down below.

The city was huge with several towns and villages surrounding it. A Dukedom was quite different from a kingdom in Size...it was considerably smaller.

The Eylis Dukedom in itself had 1 major City, 5 strongholds and several little towns and villages.

"Ohhh," Leon looked on with admiration. Unlike Eldoria, this place was more developed in terms of structure, and from the way they irrigated their land.

Even though they were smaller than eldoria they would probably be able to manage their resources much better.

"Let’s go" Leon smirked and rode his horse back down the hill....he was preparing to enter the main city.

"Sigh" Ben didn’t want to follow, but he had promised Leon, he really had no choice but to follow him into the city and show him to the library of Xion.

Soon, not just Leon, but Arian, Ember, Sosa , and Ben Yoel made their way towards the city with a few others.

"Halt!!!!"

When they got to the gate they were stopped by some guards at the very front of the gate.

"What business do you have here?!!" The guards screamed at the top of their voices and in unison. The city was on high alert at the moment and didn’t let just anybody enter..

They had to strictly vet Leon and his companions.

"We mean no harm, we are just here for sight seeing and to acquire knowledge" Ben rode his horse to the front of the group and explained.

Before this whole fiasco with the Dukes sons, this city was a hub for scholars of the region that sort knowledge.

It is said that the library of xion was formed one day when a bunch of books from the Undergod monastery floated down stream and into the labs of a great scholar here.

So even though Xions library was a sort after place in region it was still second to the Undergod monastery.

But, this wasn’t the only myth about this library.....in fact there was a more terrifying one that truly drove people here in droves and was one of the things that really solidified Leon’s resolve to come here.

"Excuses!!! Those won’t work on us!!" The guards weren’t having this explanation though. Call it fear, call it caution, all they knew was that it wasn’t wise to let anyone of unknown origin into the city at this time.

"Hmm!!!"

All of a sudden, From the back Leon exuded and Aura filed bloodlust and a disgusting glow.

A level 3 warlock

"Hmm!!" Arian saw this scene and mimicked Leon’s moves seemingly understanding what he wanted to achieve.

Before the guards knew it, they were faced with the powerful auras of three level existences causing them to freeze in panic.

They couldn’t tell what was going on here, why did these guys who had just appeared at the gate release such an oppressive aura? Was the battle about to commence? Where was the Army?

"Stop!!!"

A second later, a voice resounded from the city sky as a man slowly descended to where they stood.

"Friends, what brings you here today?" The man was old and squirmy, with wrinkles all over his body. His teeth were yellow and unhealthy befitting a homeless person.

But, this wasn’t the case. This man was like them a level 3 warlock under the Duke of Eylis.

"Nothing much, we just came to seek knowledge from the library of Xion" Leon rode his horse forward and said causally.

They were no longer small fry, if someone wanted them to leave a place then they would need to bring someone of equal status to make them leave.

"Friends....this is not the right time" the warlock gritted his teeth and spoke in an annoyed tone.

In little less than a week, they would be faced by a powerful army, having people of unknown origins in the city was not safe.

"I know, but the pursuit of knowledge should not be hindered by wars and conflicts....please reconsider" Leon pressed. Actually, he didn’t think that they would let them in, they were in a time of war after all. What he wanted to do was gudge then and see how far they were willing to go to stop his entry.

If they were ready to go to any lengths then he would just wait out this whole conflict and go on his merry way.

But under certain circumstances, he would consider sneaking in when they weren’t looking...this was highly unlikely though.

However, all of Leon’s options were dashed away by what was said in the next second.

"If you must enter then please follow me!!" With gritted teeth, the old warlock said hesitantly.

He didn’t want them to come in, but it really wasn’t his decision to make. According to the Duke, they were allowed to discourage entry into the city for those seeking knowledge from the library of Xion. But if they insisted then they had no choice but to let them in.

It was an absurd rule from the duke and all his generals and advisers strongly told him that this was a bad idea. However he didn’t seem to care about their opinion.

The rules were the rules.

"You, take the horses back, we will go from here" Ben Yoel looked back to one of his men and ordered. He didn’t come here with his entire blackwater gang so as not to frighten the citizens of the Dukedom.

"Okay boss" the blackwater gang memeber bowed.

Then Ben Yoel and the rest slowly rose from the horses and into the air before flying into the city.

"Holy...." While flew Leon’s eyes widened in shock, he didn’t notice this from the crowd, but just behind the wall were hundreds of archers streched around the wall ready to knock down any flying target that tried to enter the city.

The city really was in war mode.

"Hehe, this might be trickers than I thought" Leon mused but continued on flying with the warlock from the Dukedom.
