"Shouldn’t we be heading back down to the undercity?" Leon asked Bartholomew.

Right now, three of them were walking down the streets of northern duan city like they belonged here. None of the commoners knew that a level 4 warlock, the most feared existences in duan city, was walking among them.

"We’re going to see someone" Bartholomew responded to Leon. He couldn’t find whatever had

caused the issues down in the tunnel, so the chance that it was long gone were pretty high.

The only thing he could do was take precautions so it wouldn’t happen in the future, but for now? He wanted to do something else.

"Someone here?" Leon frowned. They weren’t in the undercity, the mages ruled the city above. Bartholomew shouldn’t be here, talking less of going to ’see’ someone.

.......

"Hmm, did you hear about what happened in the east of the city? I heard that marquee cane was sighted battling some mysterious figure." At the front of a luxurious compound’s gate. Two guards could be observed standing guard in front of a small gate.

"Yes I heard....it took out a few blocks. Even the city guard couldn’t do anything to stop the ’battle’" the guard opposite him responded.

Actually, they didn’t know the full details of what happened. In fact, only the marquee attacked, the disgraced knight only tried to escape….but even with that, the damage caused to the buildings around the tunnel to the undercity was devastating.

You could only imagine what would happen if this was a full-blown battle.

"Hm?" While the both of them discussing, a tall man with blue hair and two others slowly made their way towards the gate.

"I want to see Elder Swordhand" the tall man in the lead said causally. He spoke with eloquence and confidence and emitted the aura of a noble. In a normal circumstances, they would have treated him with respect.

If not for one unredeemed quality, he had. He was a warlock.

"Puuu, how dare you speak to us like that, you filthy warlock?!!" One of the guards pointed out with annoyance.

The person had just walked up to him like he owned the place, did he forget the Status of the warlocks in duan city?

"Hmmmm, so rude. Winder, they are in my way" Bartholomew shook his head heavily and all of a sudden, a gentle breeze blew beside Leon and Winder’s figure flashed and appeared by the side of the gate.

"Firebird work: flaming Slash"

The medium-sized katana on his waist caught fire while he swung to the side. The guards didn’t even know what his them, and they were sent flying in a split second.

(The kid is fast)

Leon thought in his mind, the kid was arrogant but powerful, at least for a level 2 warlock.

"Know your place" Winder sheathed his katakana. The moment they spoke rudely to his elder brother he was ready to burn them to a crisp, so when his brother gave the command he was ready.

"Enough, let’s go inside." Bartholomew said with a twisted smile, then he proceeded to enter through the gates in front of him.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Hm? Who are they?"

"Who let you guys in?"

"Wait a minute….isn’t that the brat from last time?"

"Yeah….the kid who challenged senior brother Draven?" 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶

As Bartholomew and the rest may their way into the compound, several people pointed at them. Some didn’t recognize them, and some did.

One thing was sure though, these guys were definitely up to no good.

Soon enough, in order to stop them from causing trouble. Several silhouettes flashed to the skies around Bartholomew, but after setting their eyes on him, they could only stare in frustration.

It was a level 4 warlock

They couldn’t do anything against them even if they tried. So they could only follow him tightly, making sure he didn’t harm anyone.

"What do you want again?" At the edge of a pool that seemed to be rushing down into an abssy A young man sat emerged to his waist with a sword floating before him.

"Hm?you speak to me like that kid? Where’s your teacher?" Bartholomew asked with a look of fake annoyance painted on his face.

He knew very well why the kid responded to him in such a manner, and he didn’t care. He could do what he liked because he was powerful, no other reason.

"He’s not far, if you want to see him, head down" the young man directed them towards the abyss.

This gesture looked like an insult, but he was being literal. His teacher really was inside the abyssal hole with water rushing into it.

"Uhhhh, no need, you’re who we came looking for" shaking his head, Bartholomew said casually. They weren’t here to see the old bastard. They were here to see the kid.

"I’m busy old bastard, leave me alone!!" With a painfully frustrated look on his face the young man bellowed. He looked like he wanted to cry in all honesty. He was tired, these guys wouldn’t let him train in peace.

As he did so the whole area fell silent. The elders floating in the air around them looked pitifully at the young man. The old bastard had been bullying him for so long, and now he was here again to cause him trouble.

"You better watch your mouth kid, don’t you know all I do for you is training your heart?!! If you continue like this, you’ll end up like your teacher, a whiny baby!!" Bartholomew exploded with rage. Actually, he was just bullshitting.

The kid was just an easy target for him so he would occasionally bring his little brother here to fight against him as a form of ’training’ in fact it was from beating the kid that his brother was able to enter the rank of 15 prodigies of the warlock clans.

The way the ranking worked was purely based in battle prowess and since infighting wasn’t allowed among the warlocks, they had to fight someone else.

This is where the mages came in. They also had a list of hundred year talents, though their list was much bigger.

The 30 mages destined for the sky.

Also known as the 30 sky mages.

Although they were much more in number, they were realms ahead of the warlock talents still in duan city.

"I will not fight him again!!!" The sky mage pointed his sword and winder and declared. The last time they fought, Winder won by a hairs’ breath, but instead of wanting to fight again, he was just happy to regain his peace.

Now he was here again.

"Clam down kid, this time you won’t be fighting him...." Bartholomew said before pausing briefly.

This caused the elders to sigh in relief…

"You’ll be fighting him instead" an evil smile appeared on Bartholomew’s face.

Yes, he was here to pit Leon against one of the sky mages of duan city, and Leon didn’t know.

"Hm??"

"Hm??’

"Hm??"

The mages around looked over at Leon and frowned, they couldn’t recognize this person. Was this a joke?

"I..." their frowned were warranted because even Leon had a massive frown on his face. He didn’t come here to fight anyone. Why was Bartholomew bringing so much attention to him?

"Ohhh" the sky mage talent looked over at Leon and sized him up. The kid looked ordinary, he couldn’t even tell that he was a level 2 warlock because of how well Leon had learned to hide his life-energy through the months.

"One condition, after we fight you aren’t allowed to challenge me or bring anyone to challenge me for 2 months" after a brief moment of pondering, the sky mage talent agreed.

If fighting against Leon would get him some peace of mind, then why not? He needed the time to focus….so he proposed this.

"Okay, I agree" Bartholomew didn’t hesitate, his little brother had joined the 15 prodigies already…. He had no need to challenge this kid anymore, and if Leon failed, that was on him.

"Okay whenever you’re ready" the sky Mage talent nodded and walked out of the water.

Meanwhile

"I didn’t ask to fight anyone. I’m not prepared" Leon tried to get out of this battle. He didn’t think this was the right time to stand out.

He was still wanted by the Dalriss family, even now, he was at risk of being recognized. So if he engaged in any battle and drew attention he would be in trouble because they would pay much more attention to him then.

"Don’t worry kid I’m here to protect you….and if you win I’ll give you a good reward." Bartholomew coerced Leon.

Leon was a talent, and he could tell, but he had the feeling he was holding back when fighting with Liana because he knew she was stronger. He needed to fight with someone his level to go full out….at least that’s what he thought.

"What kind of reward?" Leon squinted his brows and asked.

"Something for your lumisight Eyes...it will help you used them better in future" Bartholomew promised, something Leon had been looking for a while.

The usage of the lumisight Eyes was very crude at the moment and even though he wanted to use it, he could barely form any illusions.

"Okay..." Leon finally agreed.

"Good, let’s begin.....sparing match between…. Leon Aldwin of the blood serpent clan and Draven Waterway of the Waterway household."

Bartholomew announced at the top of his voice. Not only revealing Leon’s name, but also revealing to Leon that this was, In fact, the Waterway family household...
