Chapter 398: Emotional Weather
Dusk Town, Yokai Dojo.
Knock~ Knock~
"Who is it this time?"
Tanaka, with his broom in hand, approached the metal gate, slickly combing his hair back before slowly opening it.
His eyes slowly opened wide.
"It’s you..."
A hostile voice seeped out of his mouth.
"..."
Kiernan looked silently at him, and with his Instinct, he saw a crimson shade covering the entire dojo like a blood-painted canvas.
It was clear that he was far from being welcomed in this place, and if he took even one step inside, he might never make it out alive.
’Something has happened. I don’t think my departure would cause them all to become so hostile towards me, so something definitely happened.’
"May I enter?"
Kiernan asked.
"May you enter? Hahahaha..."
Tanaka laughed slowly but didn’t look amused and then pressed the broom’s bristles harder against the ground.
Crack~
The broom cracked in half under the pressure.
While one end was still smooth, the other end was jagged and splintered, and with the jagged end, he pointed at Kiernan’s throat.
"You should go. You don’t want to meet Master Arakawa right now. He is furious and will kill you on sight. It takes all my willpower to not pierce your throat with this."
Tanaka said angrily.
"I don’t understand this hostility. If my departure offended you all, I apologize, but I need to talk to someone there."
Kiernan said with a frown.
He wasn’t really sure what the hell was going on, and it looked as if he had killed someone, but since he hadn’t, he was pretty confused.
"You’re not taking a step inside the grounds of the dojo! You were accepted here with open arms, and Master Arakawa really liked you, but then you went and touched her granddaughter. How could you?"
"You know... about that? I really need to meet with Aoi. I can explain everything to Master Arakawa, but I need to talk to Aoi first."
Kiernan said, but at that moment, the jagged end of the broom touched his throat.
"I already told you. You’re not welcome here, bastard. I don’t know what you did to her, but she hasn’t left her room even once after your departure.
"That’s why—you’re the last person we’d like to see. You’re lucky that my self-control is high. If it were anyone else, they would’ve already attacked you."
Tanaka’s voice shook with anger, and his hand, which was holding the broom, trembled slightly as if he wanted to just stab him right now.
"Is that so?"
Kiernan looked to the five-story dojo and realized that they would not let him take a step inside if he just asked.
Even if he tried to sneak inside, they would notice his presence immediately and would try to kill him for intruding.
"Leave..."
Tanaka whispered venomously.
"Sigh..."
With a deep sigh, Kiernan turned around, took a step away, but then turned around and jabbed his spearhand into Tanaka’s throat.
"Iron Lance!"
"Urgh!"
Tanaka grabbed his throat as the spearhand jabbed into his windpipe and stopped him from breathing properly.
"You might be a beast of Martial Grandmaster rank, but even you cannot fight against the fundamental principles of being human. You need to breathe in order to survive."
Kiernan walked past him, into the dojo grounds, and sensed world-crushing pressure crashing into him like a falling mountain.
"Heavy... It looks like the monster has discovered me."
Kiernan coughed out blood in pain but just wiped it off and entered the dojo, his steps heavy as he continued forward.
"Argh!"
Tanaka lunged after him, despite not being able to breathe, and thrust its jagged broom towards his back.
"Ghost Spring!"
With a quick step, Kiernan vanished, and the broom passed right through him, but then, countless afterimages appeared in the air around him.
"Iron Lance Storm!"
Swoosh~
The countless spearhands stabbed through the air and pierced Tanaka, shedding blood, but none of those were aimed at his vital points.
With blood trickling down from his wounds, Tanaka crouched down on the ground, clutched his throat, and fell down, unconscious.
[You have defeated Low Stage Martial Grandmaster!]
[500 XP Acquired!]
"..."
Kiernan breathed heavily, his countless afterimages returning back to his body, but before he could take another step inside the dojo, he saw people running over from the training courtyard.
They heard the commotion, and after their eyes landed on Kiernan, their eyes turned so hateful that it looked like they already wanted to kill him with their stares alone.
"You... what the fuck are you doing?!"
"This bastard did something to Miss Aoi! She has been crying all week because of this bastard!"
"What did you do to her, fucker?! How can you call yourself a man when you made a girl cry?"
"Let’s kill this fucker!"
At that moment, the instructors arrived and saw that Tanaka was lying unconscious, but with a quick check of his presence, they could tell that he was alive.
He didn’t have any life-threatening injuries, but it was better for them to get him to a doctor quickly.
"It’s him... It appears that he defeated Tanaka. Impressive feat for someone of Martial Master rank to defeat Martial Grandmaster."
"He must’ve ambushed him or something! This bastard must’ve also tricked Aoi, so be careful around this bastard!"
Kiernan breathed heavily, looked straight into those hundreds of hateful eyes, and eased into his stance.
"A hundred more to go. No matter."
Tap~ Tap~ Tap~
At that moment, the angry crowd quieted down and turned towards the stairs, where Master Arakawa slowly descended, his eyes blazing with a fury.
When his aura hit Kiernan, he coughed out blood and clutched his stomach in pain.
"You dared to return here?"
Master Arakawa asked, his voice booming through the room.
It was so loud that his students had to cover their ears, as they didn’t want to lose their hearing.
"I am here... just to talk to her. Please, let me pass."
Kiernan said.
"How dare you? She was happy before you came here, and now, I don’t even see her anymore. I can only hear her cry, and I can’t even get her to eat anything.
"It is all your fault!"
Master Arakawa shouted, and that shout alone sent Kiernan flying out of the dojo and down onto the ground.
"Urgh!"
Kiernan coughed in pain, and at that moment, Master Arakawa stepped out of the dojo.
With his rage, he controlled the weather and made dark clouds appear across the skies of Dusk Town.
The weather app promised sunny skies today, but it seemed that Master Arakawa had other plans.
"This is Master Arakawa’s martial ability—Emotional Weather—with his emotions, he can control the weather as he wishes!"
