Chapter 179: Cower Before Him
[Warning: Even more violence and disturbing gore ahead. Read at your own peril]
Sweet, sweet despair. Fergus felt it. It was like a drug, sending him into a high that only made him more ruthless with his victims.
Fergus smirked coldly as he watched Nick shivering after hearing his words. His eyes darted around, probably looking for an escape. There was none. He was wounded and wouldn’t be able to reach the exit before Fergus did with his superior vamp speed.
Nick was a cornered mouse, and Fergus was a cunning cat, playing around with his food before landing the final blow.
Fergus squatted until he was on an eye-to-eye level with Nick. The wolf seemed defeated, whimpering despondently as Fergus inched closer.
"Aww, come on." Fergus pouted, rather disappointed. "I thought you’d have a little more fight in you. This can’t be all you’ve got. Come on...fight for your preservation."
Throughout the centuries, Fergus hadn’t been able to meet anyone, wolf or vampire who could stand against him. The fey and their magic proved a risk to him, but their inability to kill made them almost useless in combat, especially against an ancient vampire like himself.
On rare moments like this where he came across a victim who had a fighting spirit and was stronger than most, he couldn’t help wanting to gauge the limits of their strength against him. They would all fall before him eventually anyway, but it was still a fun activity.
Fergus watched as Nick struggled to get on his feet, but his legs gave in each time, causing him to fall back head-first on the floor. Each time, his lips less jaw would splatter blood all over the floor, painting the ground a crimson red. It would’ve been a disturbing scene to even some seasoned cold-blooded killers, but not to Fergus.
On the contrary, Fergus relished in everything Nick experienced. From the muffled groans of pain he made, to the way his head kissed the floor each time he tried and failed to get up. Fergus was patient, still conscious about the time. It wouldn’t be long till Isleen and Kylo began heading back home. By then, Fergus was sure he would’ve already wrapped this all up.
Surprisingly, Nick finally got up after minutes of trying to get up. But his next action was a bit unexpected.
Instead of using the last of his strength to head to the door, Nick chose instead to charge at Fergus, his claws already out.
It seemed he’d underestimated this wolf’s brashness and stupidity.
Fergus watched as the wolf raised his fist, sending a punch towards his face. But instead of dodging, Fergus stood completely still.
Nick was confused about why his target wasn’t trying to evade his attack. But that confusion turned into dread when he saw the cold-blooded grin on Fergus’s face.
When the fist was only a few centimeters from hitting Fergus, there was a blurry movement. It happened so suddenly, leaving Nick in a daze.
Fergus now held Nick’s wrist in place, shaking his head with pity. "That is the last mistake you’ll ever make."
No sooner had those words left Fergus’s mouth than when he twisted Nick’s wrist into an unnatural angle, causing the wolf to scream in agony, blood dripping down his lipless mouth. But Fergus didn’t end there.
With a snarl, Fergus seized the right shoulder of the wolf, and then with one swift movement, he broke it like a twig. The sound of shattering bones and Nick’s muffled agonizing scream filled the room, as Fergus tore off his arm.
Fergus laughed with sick delight as the blood spurted out from the torn veins of the arm, painting the floor and wall with crimson droplets.
Before his screams could get louder and catch the attention of someone outside, however, Fergus used a palm to cover Nick’s lipless mouth, watching with glee as he vibrated with pain.
"Such sweet pain. All coming from one wolf." Fergus mused, closing his eyes as if he were receiving an unholy baptism. "Thank you for your service, tabemono. It’s such a shame that I’ll have to let you die now. You’ve been such a fun meal."
After saying all that, Fergus finally showed his fangs, bringing them closer to Nick’s neck. He could feel his life slipping away slowly, but he knew the wolf still had a little fight inside him. Too bad he didn’t want to wait around and see how that turned out.
Fergus first used his fangs to graze Nick’s neck, as he sensed the veins within still struggling to pump blood after the pitiful wolf had lost so much. Then, without warning, he sunk his fangs into the wolf’s neck, his insides burning with a raging hunger that he’d kept tame for so long during his stay in this pack.
Disguised as Liam, he had certain limitations due to being watched almost all the time by the annoying Isleen. But now, as Cullen, he had a little more freedom. He still had to keep a low profile, but at least now there was no one constantly worrying about his whereabouts as if he were some child.
Fergus watched as Nick struggled, kicking, clawing, yelping, punching with the only arm he had left now, all in a bid to escape him as he drank his blood. But it was no use. He never stood a chance.
Slowly, Nick’s eyes grew dim, his heartbeat reducing. His body slowly stopped moving, only jerking now as Fergus drank every last drop of blood inside him. In barely a minute, Nick finally fell to the ground, completely drained of life.
Dead.
His eyes were still wide open, sunken deeply into his skull. His body which was now dried up like a snake’s molted scale, was a huge contrast to the vibrant adult wolf Fergus had met less than thirty minutes ago.
Fergus towered above Nick’s corpse, a satisfied grin on his face. Today had been nothing short of exhilarating!
First, he killed Cullen under the Gamma’s roof and took his skin. Then, he had sex with Lupe and now, he’d dominated and slowly taken the life of a strong wolf in his own house!
It had been far too long since he’d had so much fun in one day. He’d been limited by his mission, but it seemed now he wouldn’t hold back as much. Soon enough, the Raven Wood pack, and indeed the whole world, would know his name and cower before his presence. That, he promised to himself.
