Chapter 234: Dew

"No girl is waiting for me, sadly." Kylo smiled wryly at Osmond.

The older wolf chuckled lightly before blurting. "Why of course, that’s because ’she’s’ right here with you." His eyes turned to Cullen just then.

Kylo’s brows snapped into a frown. He already knew what the older wolf was insinuating and didn’t like it one bit. He and Cullen were NOT dating.

"Fuck off, dude," Kylo muttered, but was loud enough for Osmond to hear.

Nevertheless, they all laughed heartily at the joke and talked a little more. Until it was eventually time for them to leave.

When the time to leave came, the pack soldiers escorted all the enlisted soldiers out of the veil surrounding the camp with their vehicles. Luckily for them, the road back home was peaceful and there were no hiccups until they got to Ravenwood pack.

"Home sweet home." Osmond drew in a long breath as he patted Kylo on the back.

The other enlisted soldiers had begun dispersing into the pack, and some were already getting welcomed by their family members and loved ones.

Just then, a female voice shrieked excitedly at the other side of the road. "Osmond!"

Kylo and the others turned their gazes to the voice and saw a pretty woman who looked like she was in her mid-thirties. She waved excitedly at them before crossing the road, her dark brown hair flowing behind her.

"Lyra!" Osmond chuckled warmly as he ran up to the woman, picking her up in a hug. They laughed and spun around in their embrace, completely forgetting about them.

"Ugh." Cullen scoffed disdainfully, forcing Kylo to hit him on the shoulder with his elbow. "What? It’s just too lovey-dovey for me."

"Ahem." Celest had to clear his throat awkwardly, alerting Osmond and his lover of their presence.

Osmond dropped the shorter woman, but he still had his hand around her waist as he turned to them. "Oh, pardon my manners, boys. This is my wife and mate, Lyra." He paused before turning to his wife. "And Lyra, these are my tent mates back at the training camp."

Wife? Kylo couldn’t remember the man mentioning anything about a ’wife’. And he didn’t wear any rings that would give it away either.

However, he shrugged silently to himself. Maybe he’d just forgotten or something.

Plastering a smile on his face, Kylo stretched his hand and shook Lyra’s. "Nice to meet you, Lyra. It seems your husband here has been gatekeeping you from us back at the camp."

The lady was sweet, giggling softly as she glanced at Osmond. "Is that so, Osmond? You’re not proud of your darling wife anymore?"

The older wolf blushed awkwardly, causing Kylo to stifle a chuckle. It was rare to see Osmond this nervous.

"It’s... It’s not like that at all, my love." Osmond hurriedly blurted, before whispering into her ear. "Why don’t we go talk more at home while you give me a massage? I’ve missed those magic fingers of yours so much."

It was Kylo’s turn to blush now. Curse his elevated wolf hearing! Why did he have to witness the couple’s lewdity?

Or maybe he was just jealous because he was single himself.

"Gotta go boys, see you in three days or... Whatever." The older wolf waved at them with a mischievous wink, before he and his wife walked away hand in hand, their laughter filling the evening air and blending in with the bustling of the pack.

Kylo shook his head with an amused smile. When would he ever find love like that?

"I have to go, guys." Celest suddenly blurted with his usual meek tone, his wings fluttering behind him. "My family and my girlfriend are going to be quite surprised when they see me. I can’t wait to see the look on their faces."

Kylo blinked erratically in shock as he repeated the fairy’s words. "Girlfriend?"

Celest? The young, shy, and socially awkward fairy had a girlfriend. Gosh, the world was so unfair!

"Say, I didn’t know you had it in you, fella." Cullen grinned, placing his palm on the fairy’s shoulder.

However, he gently shoved it away before speaking. "You guys really gotta stop treating me like a child. I’m not THAT younger than you, you know?" He gave them a look before waving. "Catch you guys in three days."

With that, he left, leaving Kylo with the annoying Cullen. Though, as much as he hated admitting it, the dude was becoming more and more like a friend these days.

But speaking of which, he placed his arms around his shoulder before blurting. "So, where are we heading to first Kylo boy?"

Ugh, where else? Kylo wanted nothing more than to go home, get a drink or something, and just waste away resting in bed. He needed this break more than anyone.

"Home, Cullen. And I don’t know if Isleen is back there, but you two really got to get yourself a new place to stay." He spoke rather sternly to him and was about to turn and head to his destination when he bumped into someone.

He instinctively turned and grabbed the person gently, preventing them from falling. However, his eyes shone when he saw who it was.

It was a girl. A fairy girl, but there was something... Different about her.

"Oh, so sorry. I thought you’d move away." The girl’s face flushed red under his gaze and it was only then that he realized how awkward they looked right now.

His right arm was wrapped around her waist while her arms were wrapped around his neck. If anyone saw them right now, they’d think they were a couple or something.

Hold up... Why did his mind go to that?

"Uhh... It’s no worries. I should be the one apologizing for not being more attentive." Kylo smiled politely as he let go of her.

He could now have a better view of her. By the moon, she was gorgeous! Mesmerizing. And so many other words all at once that he couldn’t even remember right now.

She looked to be around her mid-twenties and had light blonde hair and a slightly tall build. Her wings fluttered gracefully behind her, and she wore a white dress that reached her knees.

Had he seen her before perhaps? Why did he feel like he’d seen her before? There was this pull, this longing that he felt stirring within him when he stared at her.

Even his wolf reacted to her, growling crazily within him. It... It couldn’t be that she was his... Mate? But how? A fairy his mate?

"Uhm, I’m Dew." She offered her hand to him, oblivious to his wolf’s internal dilemma as a smile stretched across her face.

Stuttering, Kylo took her hand and replied. "I– I’m Kylo." He was gobsmacked and couldn’t come up with any more words.

She nodded, her eyes fleeting past Cullen —who stood silently beside him— for a second or two.

Eventually, she dusted her dress before waving at them. "Bye. I’m late for my shift." Without saying anything else, she ran off,

leaving Kylo to his thoughts.

Dew... What a beautiful name for an equally beautiful girl.
