Chapter 35: _ Newest victim

Fergus

~~

The mission must go on. He was left alone now but he wouldn’t let that stop him. He had always loved working alone. He only needed the others for this particular attack.

He never wanted to bring Cherul with him but she wouldn’t stay alone without him. She wanted to be here. He brought her here and now she was...

He needed to strike now, he thought. While the pack soldiers would be busy with tending to the crime scene and saving their injured, he should strike now.

And thus, he waited for his leg to fully heal which didn’t take too long. After that, he jumped down from the tree and made his way back to the pack. He only had the night until he stole someone’s skin and shifted.

He walked through the woods, smashing his legs on every frog that he came across in anger. He was too enraged that he needed to vent. Those silly frogs paid for it.

The moment he got into the pack’s main areas, he could already hear the noises and tension in the air. Fergus hid behind a house and waited until the coast was clear before he sped and hid behind another.

He stood there, head straining out. He couldn’t risk being detected.

"Let’s go! Let’s go!"

"Move!"

"Hurry!"

The soldiers would call as they marched on. As for Fergus, he knew exactly where he was going. When he was sure that the way was secluded enough for him to speed through and never wait until he arrived at his destination, a voice rang behind him.

"What are you doing hiding like that?"

At that moment, he froze. Nah. He needed to finish this off as silently as he could. The difference between vampires and wolves appearance was so clear that it could be detected any day and time.

The main one was the skin color. Whoever it was, they’d know he was a vampire by a single glance. "What are you doing?" Fergus threw the question back at the person whoever they were.

"I am looking for my family." Answered the person.

Fergus nodded, back still turned to him. "Why not go file a report instead of wandering around like this? Don’t you know it’s not so safe now?"

"There’s a reason why I can’t file a reason and it’s none of your concern. Now, answer me. What are you doing?"

"Urh —" Fergus began, readying himself to attack. "I am one of the survivors of the attack at the restaurant." He straightened, baring his fangs. "I erh — am still scared. What if there are vampires lurking around, you know? I don’t want to step out of hiding. I can’t step out of hiding."

"Oh, that’s bad. I’m so sorry you had to witness that but I doubt there are still any vampires around. I heard the pack’s soldiers got them already." Came the reply.

It was a masculine voice and from the sound of it, Fergus was able to deduce that it was a fey. Elves or fairy, he’d have to turn to know.

"I think you are wrong about that, though." He stood and wriggled his head left and right. "What if there are vampires still lurking around?"

"Who are you?" Suspicion was already edging into the person’s voice.

And with that, Fergus turned. "I am a vampire and you are wrong." He snarled before lumping at the tall and skinny guy in front of him.

It was a fairy and that meant he needed to chop his hands off before he could think of casting a spell. Fergus had the grace of surprise element on his side. The lad wasn’t expecting what he got.

"Ahhh!" Was the scream from him and Fergus hastily covered his mouth with a hand while he bit off the right and then the second hand.

He saw fear in his victim’s eyes which fueled his zeal. As he spat the hands aside, "I’ll eat those ones last." He grinned at the male fairy who was doing all he could to wriggle out of Fergus’s hold and also endure the pain of getting his hands bit off.

"Now, your mouth." Fergus decided, hating that he needed to be fast with this killing as he needed to avoid being seen.

Another element on his side was that he was still at the outskirts of the pack. The houses in this part were built in front of the woods. Hence, he gnashed his teeth into his victim’s mouth and chewed it off incase the fairy could think of muttering any spells.

For all he knew, he could already be casting spells under his palms. Now that Fergus had chewed the mouth off, blood splattered and dripped from the mouth and hands.

The now disbaled fairy shook and whimpered in pain on the floor. With that, Fergus threw him into the woods and jumped to feast on his newest victim.

He had planned to sneak his way through until he got to his destinstion but that would definitely be hard with the pack’s soldiers walking about. Now that luck shone on him and this fairy came to him himself, it would only make Fergus’s work easier.

Although, it also meant eating raw flesh which definitely didn’t taste as pleasant as drinking blood. Fun fact was that vampires could drink fey bloods. After feasting and feeding himself, he’d eat the fairy’s flesh and shift.

And that was what he did. He jumped into the woods to meet his meal. The fairy was already losing blood as he whimpered and struggled to wince without a mouth.

"No, no, no. Don’t you go wasting those blood." He clicked his tongue before drawing the bloody fairy to himself and draining every single drop of blood out of him.

He had been hungry. He hadn’t fed all day and he’d fought. He’d lose. He’d lost his mate too. All of that, this victim and the next one would pay for it.

When Fergus was done sucking the blood, he proceeded to the feast on the flesh. It was funny how every bite tasted tasty this time. Grief and anger did have their ways of messing with the mind.

By the time every flesh was gone from the body, Fergus’s own flesh shifted and so did his bones until he was looking no different from the fairy who was now a pack of bloody bones on the floor.

"Thanks for the meal, dearie." He licked his lips, smacked on his fingers and then hid the bones from sight.

There was one little problem though; his clothes were sagging in this new form and he couldn’t take the fairy’s clothes as they sure were damn bloody. His was bloody too but nothing a few lies couldn’t get him out of.

Would he have to kill some more of these idiots before arriving at his destination?
