Chapter 96: _ Asswipe!

Drach, that bastard didn’t look in the least bit remorseful after shoving me down. "Look, omega," he began with disdain, "this is none of your concern. Stay out of it before you get hurt."

Before I got hurt?

Like the damn bastard hadn’t already hurt me. And he knew what I was?

Fuck him.

"Why don’t you go eat shit, you asswipe!" I screeched at him, fumbling to get on my feet.

Lupe was right beside me, "Isleen, no. No, no, no." She pleaded nonstop.

Just while I was still reveling in my contempt for him, the bastard bent in front of me with a scoff.

"Asswipe, huh?"

What came next was a searing pain that ripped through my arm as he shoved me again with surprising force.

My legs buckled beneath me, and I tumbled to the ground, landing with a sickening thud. A sharp cry escaped my lips as a jolt of pain shot through my elbow.

"Isleen!" Lupe shrieked, rushing to my side and kneeling beside me.

Ignoring her bastard of a mate completely, she cradled my injured arm gently. Tears streamed down her face as she examined the distorted angle at which my elbow was bent.

"It’s broken," she whispered, vibrantly shaking her head.

She turned to him with spite. "Look what you’ve done, you brute!"

Lupe screamed with a voice that was filled with a ferocity I hadn’t witnessed before.

Next, I knew, she grabbed a nearby bottle of olive oil which was the heaviest thing she could find in the immediate vicinity, and with a ferocious glint in her eyes, hurled it at Drach’s head.

Boom!

The bottle connected with his head in a satisfying thud, sending shards of glass flying and a crimson gash blooming on his forehead.

"You unfaithful bastard!" Lupe roared, her hands thrown beside her. "How dare you do this to her?! You leave me to grieve my mother while you cavort with some... some..." she sputtered, searching for an appropriate insult.

Silas stumbled back, clutching his head and wincing in pain. The commotion had attracted the attention of the store’s crowd, and a circle of curious onlookers had formed around us.

Oh, Gosh.

This was far from how I had expected our grocery shopping to be. We were going to stretch our legs and slack out, but fate was a bastard, wasn’t it?

"This is not what it looks like, Lupe. I told you to always listen to me, bitch! Why won’t you just listen and make me– make me..." Silas hollered, throwing his hands in the air like a psychopath. "I can explain if you’d just hold your horses and let me EXPLAIN!"

"There’s nothing to explain!" Lupe cut him off, her voice shaking with barely controlled rage. "You had your chance to be there for me, and you chose... that!" she gestured towards the fleeing elf who had disappeared into the crowd of people in the store the moment she saw that shit had started to get real.

While this unfolded, the store’s security guards had been alerted by the commotion. Two burly guards pushed their way through the crowd and approached the scene.

"What’s going on here?" the first guard boomed with authority.

Lupe, while still fuming, pointed an accusing finger at Drach. "He attacked me!" she declared wailing.

My mouth fell open. Was Lupe reporting her mate? For me?

Drach was now holding a bloody cloth to his head. He glared at Lupe. "She’s lying," he countered. "She’s the one who attacked me first."

What in the fuck’s name?

That lying assface!

The guards exchanged a skeptical glance. The scene before them spoke volumes. A distraught woman with a broken arm, an injured man with a bleeding head, and a tense atmosphere that smells of hostility.

Not to mention the whispers and murmurs of the onlookers at that declaration of Drach’s. 𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙥𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎

I’d need my elbow to be shifted back in place before it could begin to heal.

"We’ll need to come with all of you to headquarters," the second guard declared.

His declaration left no room for argument, that much was sure. I almost couldn’t believe my ears. The headquarters sounded like hell to me these days. It meant I’d...

... I’d see him. Gamma Rhett.

Oh, no.

"Seize the man! He hurt those girls." Hissed a middle-aged woman as the crowd began to disperse and go about their businesses.

The first guard whistled. "We’ll let the law do that. Now come on, up. All of you." He began to clap, signaling us up.

Drach, who was now completely healed now groaned at Lupe with gritted teeth. "You’ll pay, Lupe. You know me. I’ll make sure you pay."

Wait – what did he mean she knew him?

This dickhead couldn’t possibly be hitting Lupe, could he?

"Yeah, well. I guess it’s you who has to pay first." The first guard gave him a spank on his head.

Drach snarled at the guard, his wolf howling a warning. "Don’t touch me, asshole!"

"And what are you going to do if I did? Beat me like you beat these ladies?" The first guard was relentless.

He went chest to chest closer to Drach, pushing the assface with a finger. "Huh? Huh?" He demanded.

Drach was clearly a jerk. He growled at the guard, his fangs elongating. "Touch me again and I swear, I’ll make you pay!"

All these while, my mouth was agape. This was the animal Lupe was mated to?

So much for mating.

"Look..." The second guard intervened. "Just as my colleague had said, if anyone would pay today, that would be you." He gestured at the messy aisle we were at. "All of this messes – you’ll pay the bills for the damages. Now get moving!"

Together, the two guards hustled him forward to the checkpoint counter. The jerk wouldn’t stop grumbling curses under his breath. The Moon Goddess was really questionable for matching Lupe up with a crazy man.

The only good thing about him was his looks and frame.

Well, not that Lupe was that great herself. Before that attack, Lupe was pretty much a bully like her sweetheart.

Now, look what they had done. I’d see Gamma Rhett for the second time today. AGAIN!
