Chapter 99: _ It’s Just Liam

"That’s psychotic," Kylo retorted. "You knew I was dating Isleen! You’re her freaking roommate! How can you fall in love with me when I’m your roommate’s boyfriend?"

Cullen hissed. "Forget Isleen. She’s not your mate. You know that. We both know that. It won’t work between you two. It’s just for a while until your two charades are over. Thankfully, we’ve both seen that it’s actually over now. I just want a little fun before I meet mine. Isn’t that what you and Isleen are doing?"

What the?

This had just saved Cullen. Fergus had been thinking of slaughtering Cullen when he had the chance before Isleen and Lupe returned but because of this dark side of his, he was going to keep him for a while.

His joy at the things he was hearing was boundless. He couldn’t wait to see Isleen’s face when she found out about this nor could he wait to see Kylo’s face when he found out about the secret between Isleen and his father.

"Doesn’t matter what you think, Cullen," Kylo said with a weary sigh. "If Isleen and I want to make it work, we will. And you better be damn scared if she finds out about this."

"She never will," Cullen countered smugly, "unless we tell her, of course. And I’m damn sure that is not on any one of us’s agenda."

Oh, just as Kylo had said, you better be scared, Cullen; Fergus thought. None of them would tell Isleen but he sure would. And if Isleen, Rhett, or Lupe wouldn’t tell Kylo about Isleen’s secret too, he most definitely would.

He was after all, here to have fun while he did the Vampire Lord’s bidding.

Kylo sighed again, and this time, it was a long and melancholic one. "Fine. Just – solve your end of the deal first. Before you even think about touching me again."

Wow. For Isleen, Kylo was willing to tolerate Cullen. What a lover boy!

Lover boys always had their hearts broken. Kylo would too.

There was a grumbling sound from Cullen which was later followed by a muttered "Killjoy."

"Whatever, man."

Fergus, however, was far from bored sitting in the bathroom and eavesdropping. This was gold. Not only did he have confirmation of Kylo’s lack of trust for Isleen, but he also had a juicy secret about Cullen’s sick desires.

This would all play beautifully into his own grand scheme. He just couldn’t wait at all.

He tiptoed to the bed, careful not to alert the two men’s attention. Once he was there, he set himself in bed and squeezed his eyes shut.

However, he needed to draw both of their attention. For that, he rolled dramatically from the bed to the floor in a very loud thud.

It worked.

"I– is someone there?" Came Cullen’s shocked question.

Kylo countered him immediately. "I thought you said the room was empty?"

"Yes – I mean, I scanned the room briefly and found nobody in it."

"Well then explain that sound!"

"Argh. Shush. I’ll go check it out." 𝘯𝑜𝑣𝑝𝑢𝘣.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"You better!"

Fergus, eyes squeezed shut, mumbled incoherently, and pretended to be deeply asleep as Cullen walked in.

He could hear the deep heave of relief that escaped from Cullen when he saw him sleeping on the floor.

"It’s just Liam, Kylo. He was probably tucked in bed and I didn’t catch it. He fell from the bed, still asleep." He said.

’It’s just Liam’?

Cullen was relieved that it was just him in the house; Fergus thought. Nah. He should be terrified, horrified, and petrified that it was ’just him’ in the house because that wouldn’t end well for any of them.

Not for Cullen and definitely not Kylo.

They were all doomed in his eyes.

It was time to act. He began to yawn and stretch lazily, the floorboards groaning under his weight as he sat up. He feigned grogginess and rubbed his eyes with a theatrical yawn.

"Wha – what’s all the noise about?" he mumbled, blinking slowly.

Cullen let out a relieved sigh. "Liam! You scared the living daylights out of us. We thought someone had broken in."

"Oh," Fergus replied, feigning further confusion. "Did I fall off the bed again?"

"Yeah," Cullen confirmed and patted his head. "You alright there, buddy?"

Fergus stretched again, showcasing his impossibly long limbs. "Yeah, I think so. Just a bit disoriented."

He could hear Kylo’s heartbeat, so he stole a glance up to find Kylo who stood near the doorway, arms crossed and a frown etched on his face.

"Hey, champ." Kylo gave him a fist greeting and a wink.

Idiot; Fergus thought.

He, however, returned the gesture with a smile and his own fist greeting.

"What time is it?" He further asked, trying to sound innocent.

"Late," Kylo answered him.

Oh, he knew.

"Oh," Fergus replied, stretching again. "Is Mum and Lupe back yet?"

Both Kylo and Cullen exchanged a wary glance. Fergus suppressed a smirk. The wheels were definitely turning in their heads. Now, they were reacting weirdly to Isleen’s and Lupe’s names.

"No, not yet," Kylo finally said. "We just arrived ourselves."

Fergus stood up. "But why? She and Lupe Weee going to make dinner but needed to run to the grocery store. They ought to have been back by now." He blurted.

Kylo and Cullen exchanged another panicked glance. This time though, Fergus could see guilt in Kylo’s eyes. He was probably feeling bad for the little betrayal he was committing against his sweetheart, unknown to him that she was doing worse.

"Uh, yeah," Cullen stammered. "They, uh, must have gotten held up at the store. Happens all the time, right?"

"Right," Kylo echoed unconvincingly, his gaze traveling towards the window.

Fergus tilted his head, feigning concern. "But wouldn’t they have called to let you know? Mum hates keeping people waiting, especially you, Kylo."

He wanted to send more guilt to Kylo until his mood was utterly ruined.

He engineered his sentence with a sweet smile, further twisting the knife in Kylo’s already churning stomach. The mention of Isleen and Kylo’s relationship was a delicious bonus, a way to drive a wedge deeper between them.

"Maybe her phone died," Cullen offered weakly. "Those things happen, you know."

Kylo, however, snapped at Cullen. "Why are you so sure they are safe? The pack isn’t safe for all we know. I’m going out to search for them."

He began to move toward the door while Cullen struggled to explain himself. The ringing of a phone ceased all further talks and action.

Kylo reached for his pocket and pulled his phone out. "Hello, Dad?" He said into with impatience dancing in his eyes.

Wow. Rhett? Fergus’s interest was piqued. The father who was having an affair with his son’s girlfriend. Look at him calling his son like he hadn’t betrayed him.

"Isleen has been arrested. Come bail her out." Fergus heard Rhett’s voice from the other end informing Kylo.

"What?!" Kylo blurted out, eyes widened.

Cullen snapped on his toes immediately. "Is something wrong?" He asked Kylo if he was still speaking on the phone.

Bloody wolves; Fergus bit his bottom lip. Pathetic in fact. He couldn’t hear the conversation from over the phone at such a range.

Weak.

"Alright, thanks, Dad. I’ll be there right away."
