Chapter 116: Chapter 115 Beautiful Auntie, Goodbye
"Professor Zhang, do you have some free time later? Let’s grab a quick lunch together," Wen Shulin stood up to take his leave.
Zhang Jingsong waved his hand, "Some other time. With Xiao Chen as our connection, there will be plenty of opportunities for us to meet in the future."
Upon hearing this, Wen Shulin picked up the gift from beside the sofa and placed it on the table.
"Here are some tea leaves and snacks," Wen Shulin said with a smile, "I hope you like them."
Zhang Jingsong glanced at the gift, then looked up at Wen Shulin, hesitant.
These gifts were fundamentally different from those his son-in-law gave him.
Chen Cheng: "Uncle Zhang, please accept them. It’s a token of appreciation from Miss Wen, and not expensive."
"It’s just some staple food tea and snacks from Rice Fragrance Village," Wen Shulin dispelled Zhang Jingsong’s concerns.
"Alright then, I’ll accept it. But don’t set a precedent," Zhang Jingsong said with a smile.
Seeing that Zhang Jingsong accepted the gift, Wen Shulin was very pleased.
"Thank you, Professor Zhang. Now that everything here is settled, I’ll have Mr. Chen contact you again," Wen Shulin said with a smile.
"Alright."
After speaking, Wen Shulin and Chen Cheng left the office.
Upon exiting, it coincided with the lunch break.
The sun was just right, and students bustled between buildings, filled with youthful vigor and vitality.
Wen Shulin and Chen Cheng walked side by side down the tree-lined path of the campus, absorbing the bustling atmosphere.
The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting patches of light on them, as if illuminating the direction of their relationship.
"Mr. Chen, I really owe you one this time," Wen Shulin said emotionally, "I wouldn’t have known what to do without your help."
Chen Cheng chuckled, "Miss Wen, rare for you to compliment someone."
"You!" Wen Shulin also saw that mischievous smile and turned her head away.
"Did you ever date during your school days?" Chen Cheng suddenly asked.
Wen Shulin pursed her lips, feeling both familiar and strange about the university campus.
In her sophomore year, she signed that contract, dropped out of school, and went to Hong Kong Island.
When she later stepped into a college campus again, it was as a donor, not as a student.
Over the years, she also participated in numerous business school trainings.
But no matter how much she learned, those places full of quid pro quo never had the purity of a university.
"No," Wen Shulin flicked her hair, "Had no time."
Chen Cheng looked down at her, "Miss Wen, you must have been a campus goddess in your youth, right? Too busy?"
"You know the answer, why even ask me?"
Chen Cheng laughed heartily, "Just trying to help you recapture the feeling."
"What feeling?"
"The feeling of campus romance," Chen Cheng raised his head and continued walking, "Should have experienced a passionate romance in university."
Wen Shulin was not lightly agitated but didn’t know whether to be angry or pleased.
She longed for love in her heart.
Having tied herself early on to a loveless extramarital affair for benefits, Wen Shulin truly missed this precious experience in her life.
"Chen Cheng, can you be serious?" Wen Shulin stopped, glaring at Chen Cheng.
Chen Cheng also stopped, turned around to face Wen Shulin,
"I am serious, Miss Wen. I just wanted you to feel the beauty of campus love, it’s also a life experience."
Wen Shulin pointed with one hand: "You!"
"Brother Cheng?"
A tender call interrupted their banter.
Chen Cheng turned around to see Liu Zhiya standing not far from him.
Wearing a white T-shirt and blue denim shorts, she looked very refreshing.
Her high ponytail with a few strands of hair hanging on her slender left cheek, wearing a black rubber band on her wrist.
White leg socks on those incredible long legs, the personification of a campus goddess was right here today.
"Xiao Ya?"
Chen Cheng was initially surprised, but seeing the pile of law books in her hands, he guessed that Liu Zhiying must have woken up.
"Why did you come to your sister’s school?" Liu Zhiya trotted up, curiously and happily asking.
Chen Cheng with his hands in his pockets, "Came to handle some matters."
"Then..."
Liu Zhiya hadn’t finished speaking when Wen Shulin emerged from behind Chen Cheng.
She looked at the face with sunglasses, with corners of the mouth devoid of a smile, her nerves tensed instantly, "Chair... Chairman Wen..."
"Yeah," Wen Shulin replied indifferently.
Chen Cheng: "Yes, I accompanied her here."
Liu Zhiya couldn’t believe what she heard.
Wen Shulin had secretly photographed the two of them, but Chen Cheng was still willing to accompany her.
The naive Liu Zhiya immediately thought that perhaps Wen Shulin had blackmailed Chen Cheng.
"Are we done talking? Let’s go," Wen Shulin said coldly.
Chen Cheng: "Let’s eat together?"
"Ah?" Liu Zhiya pursed her lips, she really wanted to have a meal with Chen Cheng, but she didn’t want to get involved with Wen Shulin.
"Let’s have a simple meal, it’s mealtime anyway," Chen Cheng continued.
"Then... how about we eat in the cafeteria?"
Liu Zhiya felt that since they were on campus, it would definitely be safer than outside.
Moreover, Wen Shulin wouldn’t do something in public that would embarrass both her and Chen Cheng.
Chen Cheng with a raised eyebrow, "Sure! But, do you have this school’s campus card?"
After saying this, he suddenly realized that outsiders couldn’t tell the difference between her here and her in the hospital.
"I have money on my sister’s card."
Liu Zhiya pulled out Liu Zhiying’s campus card from her shorts back pocket, waved it, "Let’s go, I’ll treat you!"
"Okay."
As Chen Cheng stepped forward with his left leg, he noticed Wen Shulin was not moving.
"Aren’t you hungry?" he asked.
Wen Shulin took a slight breath and muttered, "I don’t know what’s good to eat in the school cafeteria."
Despite saying that, she still honestly followed their steps.
Thus, an odd scene appeared on the tree-lined avenue.
Liu Zhiya, dressed vibrantly young, and Chen Cheng in a casual POLO shirt, walked side by side, creating a picturesque scene of a handsome man and a beautiful woman.
But Wen Shulin, on Chen Cheng’s left, was dressed too maturely, creating a stark contrast with the two.
She followed expressionlessly beside them, holding a Hermes bag and wearing Salvatore Ferragamo shoes, her branded attire somewhat out of place in the surrounding environment.
The three entered the cafeteria.
The bustling queue made Chen Cheng genuinely feel like he was back in his university days.
They reached the food counter, and looking at the wide array of dishes, Chen Cheng asked, "Xiao Ya, do you have any recommendations?"
"Um... the dry pot ribs are good, just a bit spicy." Liu Zhiya asked, "Brother Cheng, can you handle spicy?"
"It’s all good." Chen Cheng nodded. "I’ll leave it to you."
"Okay!"
Standing aside, Wen Shulin watched the interaction between them, feeling somewhat uneasy.
She felt like an outsider, unable to blend into their world.
Chen Cheng turned to the side, "Miss Wen, will you also have the dry pot ribs?"
"Whatever," she replied indifferently.
Liu Zhiya ordered a large portion, added three servings of rice, and even went to buy drinks for them before leading them to a corner table to sit down.
Soon, she brought the dry pot over.
Seeing that Wen Shulin was already sitting beside Chen Cheng, Liu Zhiya decided to sit opposite Chen Cheng.
"Brother Cheng, the food is served."
Liu Zhiya thoughtfully adjusted the handle toward herself.
"Thank you for the effort," said Chen Cheng as he picked up the chopsticks.
"It’s no trouble, no trouble at all."
Talking, Liu Zhiya picked out the biggest piece of rib and placed it in Chen Cheng’s bowl, smiling sweetly, "Brother Cheng, try the taste."
Chen Cheng took a bite, average but still he commented, "Very good! Flavorful."
Liu Zhiya’s face beamed with a brilliant smile, "Then eat more."
After saying that, she picked another piece for Chen Cheng.
"You eat too, don’t just sit there."
Liu Zhiya nodded, "Yes!"
Wen Shulin had initially looked forward to eating in the school cafeteria, but not alongside Chen Cheng’s other woman, especially not Liu Zhiya.
She hadn’t touched her chopsticks but silently sipped her drink.
"Um... senior Xiao Ya."
A male student’s voice emerged.
All three shifted their focus to him.
Liu Zhiya didn’t recognize the young man. "Who are you?"
"I’m a junior disciple of Xiao Ying senior," the young man said. "I heard her surgery went very successfully. Everyone in our class wants to visit her."
Liu Zhiya stood up, "My sister now isn’t able to meet others. Classmate, I appreciate your kindness. I’ll thank everyone on behalf of my sister."
"That’s okay, no problem," the student then took out a carefully made card from his bag and handed it over to Liu Zhiya with both hands, 𝔫𝖔𝖛𝖕𝔲𝔟.𝔠𝖔𝖒
"This is from everyone in our class, hoping sister Xiao Ying recovers soon!"
Liu Zhiya took it, it read, "Wishing sister Liu Zhiying a speedy recovery!"
"Thank you," replied Liu Zhiya gratefully.
The student then glanced at the dry pot on the table, "Then, I won’t disturb your meal."
"Goodbye, senior Xiao Ya."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye, senior."
Chen Cheng was momentarily stunned, then smiled, "Goodbye."
"Beautiful auntie, goodbye."
Upon hearing this, Wen Shulin’s grip tightened slightly on her drink bottle.
Women are most afraid of being compared.
Wen Shulin was well-maintained and, when seen alone, was regarded as a goddess in the finance world.
But placing her in a university setting, the age difference suddenly became obvious.
Her nostrils flared slightly, she didn’t reply but nodded her head anyway.
"Brother Cheng, look how popular sister is!" Liu Zhiya passed over the card and Chen Cheng glanced at it.
"Yes, very popular," Chen Cheng’s lips twitched in a smile, "Miss Wen, what do you think?"
Wen Shulin put down her drink, stood up, "I’m leaving first, you enjoy."
"You’re leaving already?"
"Am I supposed to stay here and watch you flirt?" Wen Shulin stated bluntly.
Then she picked up her Hermes and walked out of the cafeteria.
The clicking sound of her high heels was quite jarring, but more piercing than that "beautiful auntie" comment was the pain in her heart.
"Am I really that old?" she couldn’t help but question herself.
Chen Cheng watched her departing figure, making no attempt to stop her.
He knew that she was upset by being called "auntie."
Liu Zhiya breathed a sigh of relief, murmuring, "Finally, she left."
Chen Cheng chuckled, "Why? Are you afraid of her?"
