Chapter 4660: I’ll be waiting
“I am not entirely certain about the specific circumstances in the Immortal Realm at this moment, but for the time being, yes, that is the plan,” she affirmed with a nod.
“Since you lack complete knowledge of the situation there, how can you be absolutely sure that sending the children up there will guarantee their safe upbringing? How can you be certain that this individual, who doesn’t even disclose his name to you, will genuinely protect them?” The Xuanyuan Monarch pressed, his concern evident in his unwavering frown.
Hearing Feng Jiu’s admission of uncertainty only deepened his apprehension.
“I have been observing him for a period and my intuition tells me that he is worthy of trust.” Feng Jiu stated with conviction. “Besides, there is an additional matter concerning Yue’er that I need to discuss.”
Within the confines of the soundproof barrier, their conversation remained private, unheard by anyone outside the palace walls. Meanwhile, as evening descended, the children were enjoying themselves, exploring the unfamiliar grandeur of the imperial residence. Boqing, who had never before witnessed such splendor, was particularly enthralled.
“It is so incredibly beautiful here!” Boqing exclaimed in wide-eyed amazement to Muchen. “Your grandfather is actually the Monarch! That is so unbelievably amazing!” He had never imagined that his new friends held such an esteemed status.
Muchen cast a sidelong glance at Boqing and stated matter-of-factly, “Of course, my grandfather is amazing, but my father and mother are even more so. They are Sovereign Rulers, far more powerful than even the Monarch. In the future, I too will become as powerful as my father and mother, so you won’t stand a chance against me.” 𝖓𝖔𝖛𝔭𝖚𝖇.𝔠𝖔𝔪
“I don’t believe you,” Boqing retorted, unconvinced. “I will also become incredibly powerful in the future. I will definitely defeat you!”
“Brother Boqing, I will take you to see the spirit beasts that are kept within the palace grounds,” Yue’er interjected, stepping forward and gently taking his hand. “My grandfather also has immortal cranes that can fly! I will show them to you.”
“Really? That’s fantastic! Let’s go see them right now!” Upon hearing this, Boqing’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and his face lit up with pure joy, instantly forgetting their previous playful disagreement.
It could almost be said that, aside from the initial pangs of homesickness and the occasional secret tears shed during the first day or two away from his own family, Boqing no longer succumbed to sadness when thinking of his parents. Instead, he was increasingly captivated by the novel and fascinating experiences that surrounded him.
During their stay, he had already encountered numerous strange and wonderful sights, and he eagerly anticipated the possibility of seeing and learning even more in the days to come.
Leng Hua and Leng Shuang, maintaining their ever-vigilant watch, observed the children heading towards the Spirit Beast Garden and followed discreetly behind. Although the palace grounds were considered secure and devoid of any immediate threats akin to the Devil Lord, they remained close by, prepared to offer protection should any unforeseen circumstances arise.
After a brief two-day stay within the palace, Feng Jiu instructed Du Fan to escort Boqing to the sect where she, Ye Jing, and her brother had once honed their cultivation skills. This particular sect offered training not only in spiritual cultivation but also in mystical arts. After careful consideration, she had concluded that sending Boqing there offered the most promising path for his future development.
On the day of their departure, Feng Jiu watched as the children bid farewell, a pang of melancholy tugging at her heart. She knew that this parting might signify a long separation, making future reunions difficult.
“When you arrive there, you must focus diligently on your cultivation and avoid unnecessary conflicts with others. If you find yourself facing an opponent you cannot defeat, remember to retreat swiftly,” Muchen instructed Boqing stiffly, his young eyes tinged with red.
“Woo woo woo, I understand. I will miss you all dearly. When I become strong, I will come back to find you and challenge you to a fight, and this time, I will definitely win,” Boqing sniffled, wiping away his tears as he spoke.
Muchen’s mouth twitched slightly. He had been feeling a touch sentimental himself, but Boqing’s tearful declaration shifted his emotions to a more subtle place. He could only manage a somewhat rigid nod and a simple, “I will be waiting.”
“Brother Boqing, please take good care of yourself. I selected this dagger from Grandfather’s treasure chest, and I want to give it to you for self-defense,” Yue’er said earnestly, placing a small dagger into his hands.
