Chapter 151: 151, Take her to meet the parents (4)_1
“Granny, I wish you good health and may you stay as beautiful every year!” said Quan Yifei today, who also took the day off from her company, she lovingly held Granny Quan’s hand while giving her sweet well wishes.
“Oh, your sweet words can only fool me, I’m getting old, I’m not beautiful anymore!” Granny Quan tapped her head gently, her face illuminated with a kind smile.
Quan Yifei acted as if it hurt, clutching her head and grinning at the old gentleman, “Who says that? Granny is becoming younger, Grandpa, don’t you agree with what I said?”
“Indeed, you are absolutely correct,” the old gentleman warmly affirmed.
In front of so many youngsters, Granny bashfully glared at her husband, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Hahaha,” the room burst into laughter, amused by the adorable exchange between the elderly couple.
“Second Aunt, when are third brother and Jian Qing arriving?” Quan Yifei glanced at the time and at the door, noticing that Jian Qing was yet to arrive.
“They should be arriving soon, I pestered Jingwu with calls since early morning.” After resting for several days, Rhee’s foot was almost completely healed.
“Speak of the devil and he shall appear!” said Quan Mingxuan, who was seated in the right position to spot the couple arriving, hand in hand.
“Little Qingqing!” Rhee jumped off the couch and started towards the door with quick steps.
As they stood at the doorway, Jian Qing holding Jingwu’s hand, her face remained impassive, but inside she was quite nervous.
“Don’t worry, I’m here!” Jingwu sensed her sweaty palms and comforted her in a gentle voice.
Caught red-handed, Jian Qing coughed lightly trying to act casual and mumbled, “Who’s nervous?”
Jingwu stifled a chuckle. Just as they reached the entrance, they saw a figure enthusiastically dashing towards them.
“Little Qingqing, I’ve been looking forward to seeing you!”
Jian Qing was at a loss whether to dodge or not, but the person beside her seemed to solve the problem for her, pulling her into his embrace.
“Mother, mind your image!”
“Stingy!” Rhee darted an unhappy glance at Jingwu, disappointed that her attempt to hug was thwarted.
Everyone in the living room had their eyes on Jingwu and Jian Qing nestled in his arms, Granny Quan and the others who had never seen Jian Qing before were amazed by her beauty.
Feeling the hot gazes of everyone in the room, Jian Qing became progressively more uncomfortable and ill at ease. After all, the people gathered here were all Jingwu’s family.
Jian Qing discreetly nudged Jingwu’s hand, signaling him to let her go, “Xiaojing!”
Jingwu relaxed his hold on her, looking at her rare display of shyness, and then walked with her over to the couch.
“Little Qing, it’s good to see you again!” Jingwu’s grandfather greeted her cheerily.
Jian Qing nodded politely, “Grandpa Quan!”
“Good girl, this is my granny, my uncle…” Jingwu began introducing her to his family.
As if they had seen a ghost, Quan’s grandfather and the others widened their eyes in disbelief, looking at Jingwu.
What had they just heard?
Good girl?
Among the present company, only Rhee and her husband, and Yifei could keep their calm knowing they were privy to this before.
Jian Qing felt her ears redden, which she tucked beneath her long hair, she was itching to run away.
She knew this would happen!
Could they let her live?
“Granny Quan, I wish you good health. Here’s a little something from me!” Jian Qing quickly changed the topic, she did not feel comfortable being stared at any longer, even her eternal calmness was crumbling.
“Having you visit is gift enough, you didn’t need to bring anything else.” Granny Quan stood up and affectionately pulled her closer, “Come and sit here.”
Jian Qing didn’t make a fuss and sat down beside her.
Jingwu sat down next to Mingxuan, directly opposite to Jian Qing.
“You two visiting us for dinner is more than enough, you did not need to bring a gift.” Granny Quan said kindly.
“Mother, this gift is chosen by Little Qingqing and Jingwu together, please accept her kind-hearted gesture,” Rhee gently urged, her smile warm.
Jian Qing held out the gift in her hands. Granny Quan gladly accepted it, saying, “All right, then I, this old lady, will receive it gratefully.”
With a faint smile, Jian Qing retrieved her hands.
“Jian Qing, have you had breakfast?” Quan Yifei, seated beside her, asked. She remembered Jian Qing had a stomach upset at the company earlier.
“I did.”
“Little Qing, do you remember how to make tea?” Grandpa Quan eagerly brought up the topic.
Jian Qing gave a graceful smile, “Of course!”
“You old fool, you’re making her do work the moment she settles down, where are your manners?” Granny Quan chastised him laughingly.
Jian Qing replied, “No problem.”
“Then do it quickly, this is your spot,” Grandpa Quan kicked Yimo, signaling him to move.
With a helpless smile, Yimo stood up and sat next to Jingwu.
“Third brother, your wife took my seat.”
His voice barely audible, Mingxuan heard it too.
Jingwu lifted an eyebrow in amusement, “Any objections?”
Yimo turned gloomy in resignation, thinking who’s the real elder brother?
Is it too much to ask for a little respect?
Jian Qing stood and moved to Yimo’s previous seat, the tea sets and tea leaves were all ready, it seemed like Grandpa Quan had prepared everything in advance, just waiting for her.
The water in the kettle boiled, and wisps of steam floated in the air.
“Grandpa Quan, if the tea doesn’t taste a good, I hope you’ll forgive me.” Before starting the tea-making process, Jian Qing joked.
Grandpa Quan stroked his beard, chuckled brightly, “My, my, look at you being modest.”
Considering that Elder An, a man who had been a tea connoisseur for half his life, couldn’t stop praising her, Jian Qing’s skill must be exquisite.
Jian Qing smiled subtly, her jade-like slender fingers danced rhythmically over the teaware, capturing everyone’s attention.
Warming the teapot, adding tea leaves, rinsing the tea, waking up the leaves, brewing, and serving the tea, each step in the process flowed seamlessly and naturally as if they had been performed thousands of times.
Jingwu’s purple gaze couldn’t tear away from her glowing, milky-white face, his eyes showed a hint of affection, his good girl always kept him spellbound!
“Excellent, this is truly amazing!” Grandpa Quan clapped, exclaiming in admiration.
With a faint smile, Jian Qing picked up the teapot, placing the brewed tea in front of Grandpa Quan, “Please have a taste!”
After he took his cup, she poured another cup of tea, offering it to Granny Quan.
Tasting the tea, Grandpa Quan’s eyes lit up. “Very good indeed!”
He praised and eagerly gulped down the cup of tea.
Elder An was certainly right, Jian Qing’s skill in brewing tea was on par with a tea maestro.
“It really is exceptional!” Granny Quan, was also a tea enthusiast who tasted different varieties of tea over the years alongside her husband, agreed with his assessment.
With both elders acknowledging the quality of the tea, it piqued the interest of the others too, especially Quan Hao, who jumped in and took the last cup of tea before others could interfere. The strong aroma of tea invigorated his senses as soon he held the cup near his nose.
After a sip, Quan Hao’s eyes brightened, and he looked at Jian Qing, “Jian Qing, have you trained in tea brewing techniques before?”
“I have practiced it for a while,” Jian Qing replied lightly.
A look of admiration crossed Quan Hao’s eyes, he turned to his son discontentedly, “Look at her, now look at you, when I tried to get you to learn tea ceremonies, you made the tea maestro quit in frustration.”
