Chapter 159: 159, Finally Some Progress (4)_1
“Tsk, Quan Jingwu, you’ve got nerve!” Jian Qing was furious. If she dared to step out with this thing on her neck, it would be difficult to prevent any suspicious glances.
Seeing the storm brewing in his wife, Quan Jingwu took her into his open arms, “Don’t be angry, I’ll have someone bring you clothes, and a silk scarf to go with it.”
“No!” Jian Qing flatly refused.
Wearing a scarf in this hot weather would be like admitting she had three hundred ounces of silver buried here.
Pushing him away, Jian Qing walked over to the bedside table, grabbed her phone, and made a call.
“Could you please bring a shirt and a pair of jeans over here?”
After relaying her address, Jian Qing finally hung up the phone and looked at him irritably, “Go downstairs and get my clothes.”
Quan Jingwu loosened his collar button, revealing his delicate collarbone. He strolled up to her, “Or how about you get one too? I promise I won’t get mad.”
Jian Qing, resisting the brimming fury within, coldly threw him one word, “Bugger off!”
She pushed him out the door and watched as it slammed shut with a bang. Quan Jingwu’s lips curled up into a satisfied smile.
“Hehe!”
A chuckle came from the side where Quan Mingxuan leaned against the door, watching Quan Jingwu with a profound gaze.
As far as he knew, there was only their rooms on this floor besides a guest room, which seemed to be unoccupied last night!
“Jingwu, have you been kicked out?”
Not bad at all. His sister-in-law-to-be was quite gutsy. It seemed that in the future, he would have to rely on her even more.
Quan Jingwu gave him a fleeting glance, ignored him, and walked downstairs.
Quan Mingxuan quickly caught up to him, “Jingwu, if our aunts find out you didn’t sleep in the guest room last night, what will they think?”
If he hadn’t deterred them from going upstairs this morning, things could have been quite interesting.
“How do you think Aunt Three would react if she found out you’re spending nights at the bar with Han Yue?” Quan Jingwu retorted casually.
“You…” Quan Mingxuan was speechless.
Damn it, why did he have to torture himself like this so early in the morning?
Other family members had gotten up and were having breakfast in the dining room when the two of them descended the stairs.
“Jingwu, where is Little Qingqing?” Upon seeing only her son, Rhee wondered where Jian Qing was.
“She’s upstairs taking a phone call. She’ll come down later.” Quan Jingwu coolly replied.
“Young master, there’s a delivery for Miss Jian.” The butler walked in briskly carrying a bag.
“Oh, it’s from San Yue Qi.” Quan Yifei instantly recognized the logo on the bag.
“Give it here.”
The butler handed the merchandise to Quan Jingwu before promptly exiting the room.
“Third bro, are those Jian Qing’s clothes?” Quan Yifei inquired.
Quan Jingwu simply nodded in affirmation, holding the bag as he retraced his steps upstairs.
Quite some time later, when everyone had almost finished eating, Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing finally made their appearance.
“Little Qingqing, you and Jingwu seem to be wearing matching shirts.” Rhee looked attentively at Jian Qing’s outfit, speaking with a smile.
In order to conceal those “strawberries” on her skin, Jian Qing had gone to great lengths, having specifically ordered a black shirt to be delivered. Quan Jingwu too, was clad in black. Seen together, they could easily pass for a couple’s outfit.
Jian Qing simply offered a faint smile in response.
“Hurry up and go to the dining room for breakfast. I had it all prepared for you.” Rhee urged them.
In the dining room, Quan Jingwu faithfully follows Jian Qing to whatever seat she chooses.
“I mean, there are so many seats. Can’t you just stop cramming next to me?” Jian Qing rolled her eyes at him, snorting in discontent.
“Without sitting next to you, I can’t eat.” saying this, he brought his vegetable fish porridge over to her, “Have it while it’s hot. It’ll smell fishy if it cools off.”
This person was always bamboozling her with this same act. Jian Qing couldn’t help but purse her lips before accepting the spoon he was handing over to her.
“Where are you planning to go after this?” Quan Jingwu took a bite and asked casually.
Jian Qing quickly replied, “Back to An Family’s old mansion.”
“Why would you want to go there?” He frowned.
“Uncle Qiu said my room there is ready now. I want to have a look.” Jian Qing had been in Beijing for long enough, it was high time she started making her move. According to Uncle Qiu, An Chong wouldn’t be around the old mansion for a while.
“There’s nothing special about the rooms there. If you desire, you can pick any house at Shijin Haoting and decorate it however you want.”
Jian Qing finished the last of her porridge, wiping her mouth, “No, thank you.”
Quan Jingwu looked at her and refrained from prying further. He had all the time in the world to wait for her to reveal all her secrets. There was no need to rush.
“I’ll take you there.”
She rested her chin on her hand, pondered for a moment, and finally nodded, “Alright.”
After breakfast, Quan Jingwu accompanied Jian Qing as they prepared to leave. Rhee and Granny Quan held onto Jian Qing, having a little chat with her, basically just encouraging her to visit them more often.
Jian Qing politely agreed to everything with a smile. Only then did Rhee and Granny Quan let her leave freely.
“Baby, call me when you are ready to return. I will come to pick you up.” As they neared the An mansion, Quan Jingwu slowed down his car.
Jian Qing responded, “Okay, let’s make a detour to the supermarket, Snowball is out of snacks.”
The keyword was that she was out of snacks.
“Okay.” He parked the car. Not breaking a sweat as the security guard at the entrance didn’t stop them after seeing the emblem on the license plate.
Jian Qing was about to open the car door and get out when a thought struck her. She quickly turned and pecked him on the face, then dashed out of the car.
“Bang-”
As the car door slammed shut, Quan Jingwu clasped the steering wheel, chuckling softly under his breath.
Not bad! His darling was indeed making progress!
Ever since Jian Qing had given Xiang Cheng a thrashing at the An Mansion, all the servants there treated her with utmost respect, even those who were closest to Zhao Xuan dared not to act recklessly.
“Miss Qing!”
As soon as Jian Qing arrived, someone immediately informed Uncle Qiu.
“Uncle Qiu!”
Uncle Qiu responded, “Miss Qing, it’s been a while since your last visit. Master An has been expecting you daily.”
Jian Qing spoke in a calm tone, “Uncle Qiu, I would like to check my room first. Could you please let the old master know that I will visit him shortly after that?”
“Okay, I understand.” Thinking that Jian Qing wanted to inspect her room, Uncle Qiu respectfully nodded in response.
Today, it appeared that the rest of the An family hadn’t returned to the old mansion. The living room was peaceful. Jian Qing headed straight upstairs, however, she halted on the second floor.
Following the same path she remembered from last time, Jian Qing stopped in front of the study at the end of the hall.
