Chapter 229: 229, Grandpa Jian gets into trouble (4)_1

Jian Qing regained her focus, looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with intriguing laughter. “Hey, does this count as you pinning me against the wall?”

At her words, his smile grew wider, “Hmm, do you like it?”

“No,” Jian Qing pushed him away, saying, “It’s suffocating!”

“Darling, being stubborn deserves punishment,” he bent over, his handsome face coming closer.

Jian Qing rolled her eyes at him, turned her head, about to say something, but her lips were sealed.

Blinking, she met his bewitching purple eyes.

Before she could recover, Quan Jingwu ended the fleeting kiss.

Jian Qing was taken aback for a moment.

Something was off with Jingwu today!

“Darling, I have to go to J City for a few days. I’m leaving tonight,” he looked at her tenderly, caressing her cheek with the pad of his finger.

“Business trip?” Jian Qing asked.

Managing the enormous JK International, regular business trips and countless files were common experiences, something she had also experienced.

Quan Jingwu hummed in agreement, “So, take good care of yourself when I’m not around, don’t overindulge in snacks.”

“I know,” she responded, resignedly.

Jeez, she wasn’t a child!

“Remember to think of me every day.”

“I know.”

“Don’t meet Chu Yihen alone.”

“I kn—”

Almost blurting out “I know”, Jian Qing glared, her lips pursing, “Isn’t that last one the key point?”

“Yes, the most important of the key points,” he said, his gaze falling on her, his face serious.

Jian Qing huffed softly, bent over and slipped out from under his arm.

“Go pack your luggage.”

“Are you going to help me pack?” he chased after her, grabbing her hand.

“In your dreams.”

Despite her words, she went upstairs.

Quan Jingwu curved his lips, his deep gaze hinting at something dangerous he hadn’t spoken about.

In the evening, Jian Luo finally returned.

As soon as he entered the house, he found it empty.

As he was about to go out looking for people, Jian Qing returned.

“Sis, where did you go?”

“Jingwu’s taking a plane to J City tonight, I just went to see him off,” Jian Qing changed shoes and came in.

Jian Luo paused, “Quan Jingwu went to J City?”

Did he leave because he was upset?

“Yes, for business,” Jian Qing replied.

Jian Luo nodded.

“Have you eaten?” she asked.

“I’ve eaten, I ate with Ayue at Qianshi Restaurant,” in just two days, Jian Luo had broken the ice with Han Yue.

Friendship between men is strange, intimacy coming quickly without necessity for formal introductions.

Jian Qing shook her head and laughed softly, about to say something when her phone rang.

The caller ID showed Black Jack.

She glanced at Jian Luo who was sitting on the sofa and picked up.

Before she could even say anything, Black Jack’s deep voice came through, laced with urgency, “Jian Qing, you must get back to the manor right away, something’s happened to the old man.”

Jian Qing’s eyes turned icy, “What happened?”

Seeing the change in Jian Qing’s voice, Jian Luo looked at her anxiously.

“It’s too complicated to explain over the phone, Bai Jue is operating on the old man now, you should come back quickly,” Black Jack said.

Jian Qing’s knuckles whitened as she clutched the phone, her lips pressed tightly together, “Understood, we’re heading back immediately, keep me updated if anything happens.”

Ending the call, Jian Luo hurried over.

“Sis, what happened?”

“Something happened to Grandpa. Bai Jue is operating on him now, we have to get back quickly,” Jian Qing said in a hoarse voice.

“What? How could something happen to Grandpa?” Jian Luo’s face changed, “When I left, Grandpa was fine, how could something suddenly happen?”

Jian Qing shook her head, her voice cold, “We’ll discuss it when we get back, let’s head back first.”

After saying that, she picked up her backpack from the couch, stuffing her laptop, phone and other important things inside.

Jian Luo ran upstairs, grabbed their passports and rushed down.

“Let’s go.”

They quickly changed their shoes and sped towards the airport in the car.

Underneath the night sky, two airplanes cut across the night, flying in opposite directions.

Little did they know, when they met again, it would be an incredibly thrilling moment.

At that moment, Jian Qing understood, her liking for Quan Jingwu had unknowingly seeped deep into her bones, becoming a part of her.

The airplane landed in M Country in the early hours of the morning.

As they got off the plane, the Jian Family’s chauffeur was already waiting outside the airport. Worried about the old man’s safety, both Jian Qing and Jian Luo hadn’t dared to shut their eyes all night, hints of fatigue under their eyes.

At the manor surrounded by the scent of roses, a thin fog still hung in the air at six in the morning.

“Miss, young master!”

Seeing Jian Qing and Jian Luo step out of the car, the manor’s guards came and went, saluting respectfully.

Jian Qing and Jian Luo ran all the way, from a distance they saw Black Jack’s figure.

“Black Jack, how’s my grandpa?” Jian Qing stopped running, her fair face looking hauntingly cold.

“The old man’s surgery is over, Bai Jue said he needs to watch him for a day. If there’s no sign of a fever, his condition should stabilize,” Black Jack said.

At his words, Jian Qing and Jian Luo breathed a sigh of relief.

Out of the corner of his eye, Black Jack took a quick glance at Jian Luo, quickly drawing back his gaze.

“Luo, let’s go see Grandpa first.”

Jian Qing headed up the stairs, Jian Luo following closely behind.

On the second floor, in the quiet corridor, every meter there was a man dressed in black keeping watch, making the corridor a sea of black.

Wearing black combat uniforms, the flame emblem worn on their chests was very conspicuous. On the flame-shaped emblem was engraved the character ‘Jian’.

The Jian Family’s personal guard, Nether Army!

Seeing the Nether Army had been deployed, Jian Luo was sure something major must have happened.

“Miss!” The leading black-clothed man saw Jian Qing and confidently walked over.

“We’ll talk later,” Jian Qing bypassed him walking straight towards the room at the end of the corridor.

The room was specially retrofitted for the old man’s health, with state-of-the-art medical equipment, initially planned for emergencies, but they hadn’t expected to have to use it today.

Through the clear glass, Jian Qing and Jian Luo looked at the old man lying on the hospital bed. His complexion was unusually pale, tubes inserted in his hand and nose, his body looked as though it might disappear at any moment.

Seeing this, Jian Qing and Jian Luo involuntarily clenched their fists, their faces cold.

Bai Jue was checking on the old man, turning to see that Jian Qing and Jian Luo had arrived, he instructed the nurse before coming out.

“Bai Jue, how is it?” The moment he came out, Jian Qing and Jian Luo immediately approached him.

“Can we go in to see Grandpa?” Jian Luo asked.

Bai Jue shook his head, “Not for now, wait until the old man’s condition is stable.”

Hearing this, even though Jian Luo was anxious, he knew he could only wait.
