Chapter 245: 245, Be Careful (2)_1
“Earthquake?” The team members gasped.
Ouyang Yu nodded gravely, “The situation is urgent, we need to evacuate the crowds immediately.”
The bomb of Dufeng had been dealt with, but now an earthquake had struck. Unbelievable.
“Roger that.” All the team members stood tall, gave a military salute to Ouyang Yu, and began to act in an orderly manner.
In the face of natural disasters and human calamities, the value of one’s life suddenly seems so insignificant.
In an instant, the ground shook more and more fiercely with each wave, panicking the guests in the hotel.
The emergency alarm rang out, and Ouyang Yu and the others evacuated the crowds through all the hotel corridors, preventing any stampedes from occurring.
“The earthquake is here, run, quickly…”
“Don’t push me, step aside, let me out…”
The sounds of panic echoed throughout the hotel, with everyone looking white as a sheet, fear in their eyes, rushing to get out, as if fearing that a second too late would mean their lives ending here.
This earthquake came fast and furious, without any warning, plunging the entire J City into chaos.
Fuhao Hotel began to collapse; Ouyang Yu and the others were still fervently evacuating the crowds.
“Watch out!” As Ouyang Yu turned his head, he saw a beam fell from above, with an elderly couple standing below.
The couple appeared to be husband and wife, upon hearing Ouyang Yu’s voice, they immediately looked up, seeing the falling beam, reacted by using their aged bodies to shield each other.
The anticipated pain did not come through; instead, they opened their eyes to find that Ouyang Yu had pushed them out of the way, taking the full hit from the beam.
“Ugh -” Ouyang Yu grunted, a surge of discomfort welled up in his chest, followed by an uncontrollable burst of blood.
“Young man, are you alright?” The elderly couple quickly helped Ouyang Yu up, their faces filled with gratitude and worry.
“I’m okay, you two need to leave quickly, it’s not safe to stay here.” Ouyang Yu winced at the stinging pain from his back.
“But you…” The old man started to request that he should leave with them. They couldn’t just abandon the person who had saved their lives.
“Grandpa, I’m a soldier. I’ll be fine. So please hurry and leave, it’s too dangerous here.” Ouyang Yu gently pushed the two away, earnestly urging them.
“Thank you, really, thank you.” The old man thanked Ouyang Yu and finally moved away, assisting his wife.
Ouyang Yu staggered to stabilize his footing, his head spinning a bit.
“Captain, are you okay?” One of Ouyang Yu’s teammates came over, looking at the blood on his mouth and pale face, he asked anxiously.
“I’m okay, how is the evacuation going?” Ouyang Yu shook his head and asked.
“Almost done, there’s no one left upstairs, we also have to evacuate quickly. I reckon this place will turn into ruins in a few minutes.” One of the team members commented.
“Mama, I want mama…”
From the ground, the cries of a child wafted over.
Ouyang Yu turned at the sound of the cries, spotting a little girl standing not far away, wailing, likely to have been separated from her family.
“You guys go ahead and evacuate the remaining crowds, leave her to me.”
Having said that, he briskly walked towards the little girl.
“Little girl, your uncle will take you out.” He comforted the little girl by patting her head and then picked her up.
“Uncle, I’m scared, I want my mom.” The little girl was clearly terrified, clinging to Ouyang Yu’s neck as if he was her last lifeline.
Ouyang Yu patted her back, moving quickly to evacuate. Along the way, objects collapsed around them, and he dodged while shielding the girl.
He felt his own steps growing heavier and heavier, his vision was turning blurry. He pulled the girl in his arms closer.
The ground was shaking, the columns of the hotel lobby were shaking ominously, and eventually collapsed.
“Ouyang, watch out!” One of Ouyang Yu’s teammates saw the scene unfolding and was broken inside.
Ouyang Yu looked up, seeing the column wobbling towards him.
He shook his head vigorously and sprinted a few steps, but it was too late.
“Wild Wolf, catch her!”
Using all the strength he could muster, he flung the girl in his arms towards his teammate.
“Ouyang!”
The teammate leaped forward, catching the little girl. He watched, helplessly, as Ouyang Yu was crushed by the column.
Ouyang Yu saw his teammate catch the girl, sighed in relief, and his vision became blurred.
“Ugh -”
The column hit; Ouyang Yu felt as if all the bones in his body were being crushed, and blood gushed out of his mouth.
Hearing the roar from Wild Wolf, other team members hurriedly rushed over. They were all devastated by the sight before them.
“Captain!”
They rushed over, their eyes welling up with tears.
They worked together to move the column off Ouyang Yu. Wild Wolf helped him up, and upon touching the back of his head, felt a sticky warmth.
His hand was covered in blood.
“Ouyang, wake up, wake up…”
It’s an old saying that men don’t shed tears easily, but when they do, it’s from the depths of their despair.
The team members looked at Ouyang Yu’s barely alive figure, and tears inevitably fell from the corners of their eyes.
“Quickly, get the Captain to the hospital,” Wild Wolf tested Ouyang Yu’s breathing and pulse, only to find them getting weaker.
“You two, come with me to the hospital with the Captain, the rest stay here.”
After speaking, Wild Wolf handed the little girl to another teammate, and carried Ouyang Yu on his back and bolted off.
In just over an hour, the buildings around the Fuhao Hotel were flattened, tall buildings had turned into ruins in an instant.
The echo of collapsing buildings, the screams of terrified people, enveloped the sky above J City.
The police and rescue teams had been dispatched, but the number of casualties was still increasing. Natural disasters are ruthless, mercilessly taking away precious lives.
Due to this unexpected earthquake, the most severely affected area was J City’s busiest district. For J City, this disaster was a devastating blow.
This earthquake not only rocked J City, it stunned the whole of China. The Chinese government held an emergency meeting overnight. The next day, high-level officials flew to J City to inspect the situation and console the frontline rescue workers.
