Chapter 247: 247. Madness hidden behind calmness (4)_1
The phone slipped out of her hand, crashing heavily onto the soft carpet.
Seeing her reaction, Jian Luo thought to himself that this was bad.
“Jian Qing, Jian Qing, are you there?” Quan Yifei’s voice came from the phone, and Jian Luo picked it up.
“I’m sorry, I’m Jian Qing’s brother. My sister can’t take the call right now, sorry for hanging up.” He apologized.
After hanging up, Jian Luo looked towards Jian Qing, a worried expression in his eyes. “Sis, are you okay?”
Jian Qing’s face was cold, her gaze cast low, preventing others from discerning her emotions.
After a moment, she lifted her head, her face alarmingly calm. “Luoluo, you take care of grandpa. I need to go to J City.”
Jian Luo nodded heavily at her. “Okay, I’ll take care of things here.”
Jian Qing picked up her phone, turned around, and walked out while making a phone call to prepare a plane.
Downstairs, Black Jack and Bai Jue were there too.
Watching Jian Qing walking downstairs with a calm face, they exchanged a glance, both feeling a heaviness in their hearts.
The colder Jian Qing became, the more terrifying she seemed.
“Bai Jue, please take care of my grandpa.” Jian Qing lifted her head to look at Bai Jue, her calm voice void of warmth.
This made Black Jack and the others worry about her even more.
“You go ahead, we’ll take care of everything here.” Bai Jue raised his hand to pat her shoulder. “Contact us if anything comes up.”
Jian Qing gave a nod. Jian Luo rushed downstairs, a black coat in his hand.
“Sis, it’s chilly out there, put on a coat.”
She took the coat and after putting it on, she walked straight out the door.
Black Jack and the others watched her retreating figure, their brows furrowed.
Jian Qing’s forced strong front was heart-wrenching.
“Quan Jingwu better be safe and sound, otherwise I’ll kill him.” Jian Luo spoke sharply, worry flashing in his eyes.
He didn’t dare to think about what would happen to his sister if any harm came to Quan Jingwu. Perhaps, she would never smile again in this life.
As one of a pair of fraternal twins, he understood his sister better than anyone else. Once she set her heart on something, there was no turning back.
On the plane
Jian Qing sat by the window, her hand grasping the necklace around her neck. Upon closer look, her fingertips were slightly trembling.
Suddenly, she remembered his voice on the phone asking her to write him a love letter. His deep, magnetic voice seemed to be echoing in her ears.
--He had said, “Dear, write me a love letter when you come back.”
What had she said at that time?
Oh right, she had said that she would consider it.
But now, she regretted it.
She regretted not agreeing to him right away.
She looked down at the purple stone on her necklace, as if envisioning his captivating purple eyes.
Jingwu, you must be safe. I haven’t written the love letter you asked for yet!
…
J City
Overnight, the once thriving city was gone. The earthquake took away vibrant lives, leaving behind ruins and wailing.
At the break of dawn, rescue teams rushed to every corner of J City, especially the most prosperous central area of the city. That was where the earthquake caused the most casualties.
Doctors and nurses, along with the volunteers in red vests, were moving about among the injured crowds. In the ruins, they became a reassuring sight.
Many large buildings had collapsed, and excavators were deployed to rescue those trapped under the rubble.
Everyone was doing their utmost in the sweltering heat to participate in the rescue efforts. People from all over China had reached out, hoping to reduce the death toll and restore J City’s prosperity.
Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue arrived at J City early in the morning, rushing to the hotel where Jingwu had stayed as soon as they got off the plane.
The collapse there was too severe. Aside from the rescue teams, no one else could approach the area.
After working through the morning, they managed to find the list of all the casualties from the hotel. Seeing Quan Jingwu and Shen Hao on the list caused their hearts to sink.
In order to learn about Quan Jingwu’s whereabouts ASAP, both of them stayed outside Fusheng Hotel. As the rescue team found one victim after another from the rubble, yet no sign of Jingwu, their anxiety grew with each passing moment.
Han Yue rubbed his brow, lifting his head to take in the sight of the ruins. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone approaching in the distance, causing his pupils to widen.
He thought he might be hallucinating, so he vigorously shook his head. Looking again, he realized he wasn’t mistaken.
Indeed, it was her!
“Axuan, is that, is that who I think it is?” He tugged Mingxuan’s sleeve and gestured.
Following his gaze to that familiar face, Mingxuan inwardly flinched.
Damn, why did she come?
Yi Kai said she went to M Country, didn’t he?
Just as they were unsure about how to speak up, Jian Qing was already walking towards them.
After an over ten-hour flight, she rushed here immediately after getting off the plane. Along the way, she saw that the entire city had become a ruin. Her heart was heavy and filled with worry.
On the plane, she didn’t dare close her eyes. Every time she did, she saw him. She feared him getting hurt,
feared that she might never touch him again.
“Jian Qing, why did you come?” Mingxuan walked forward, softly asking.
“How’s the situation?” She asked calmly, her voice slightly hoarse.
Without even asking, Mingxuan and Han Yue understood who she was referring to.
“The situation is unclear, we haven’t found him yet.” Han Yue looked at Jian Qing’s calm face and spoke cautiously.
Sometimes, behind a calm exterior lurked madness!
His words were like a slow torture, wrenching Jian Qing’s heart.
She remained silent, her gaze shifting towards the pile of rubble. She took a step and walked towards it.
