Chapter 261: 261. Let’s See How Long She Can Pretend (3)_1
Quan Jingwu did not immediately respond to him, instead he looked at Jian Qing.
Quan Mingxuan, “…”
Is this necessary?
My wife is right here, where could she possibly escape to?
Jian Qing, who was chatting with Rhee, felt a gaze on her. She looked up and met the man’s dazzling violet eyes.
“Yes?”
“Sister-in-law, I need to borrow your husband for a bit.” Quan Mingxuan glanced in Song Xirou’s direction and said before Quan Jingwu could speak.
His voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. Song Xirou’s hand, which was resting on her knee, fiercely clenched her skirt, concealing the malicious glint in her eyes.
Jian Qing, “…”
I feel like hitting someone. How should I do it?
“Jingwu, we’re not going to kidnap your wife, you don’t have to keep a watch on her,” Rhee playfully teased.
No matter what, she only considered Jian Qing as her daughter-in-law; she wouldn’t entertain the idea of anyone else.
Jian Qing gave Quan Jingwu a look, urging him to go ahead and avoid hearing even more outrageous remarks.
Quan Jingwu rose to his feet, and he and Quan Mingxuan departed for the study.
Now, there were only the four women left in the living room.
As the old saying goes, where there is a woman, there is a war.
Not long after the two men left, Song Xirou lost her patience.
“Jian Qing, I heard that you weren’t in Beijing a while ago. Did you go on a trip?” She asked with a smile.
Jian Qing’s eyes briefly darkened. She responded calmly, “Miss Song seems to know quite a lot about my whereabouts.”
At her words, Song Xirou’s smile faded slightly, but she quickly recovered and said, “Actually, I planned to go shopping with Yifei a few days ago and thought to invite you as well, only to hear that you were no longer in Beijing.”
Since Yifei wasn’t at home today, Song Xirou had no hesitation in placing the blame on her.
Jian Qing smirked, “Really?”
“Oh, and Jian Qing, did something urgent come up? If you need any help, feel free to let us know. Don’t be shy.” Rhee, aware that she had returned to M Country in a hurry, suspected that something unfortunate might have happened there.
“Nothing serious happened. Xiaojing was on a business trip and my brother and I decided to go back to M Country to visit my Grandpa,” Jian Qing shook her head and said lightly.
“Your Grandpa?” Rhee was taken aback.
She knew a little about Jian Qing’s relationship with the An family, but she had no idea that Jian Qing had a grandfather.
Jian Qing nodded slightly, “I’ll be heading back there again in a few days.”
She paused, her gaze flickering towards Song Xirou, then continued, “I’ll be going with Xiaojing.”
Isn’t she quite tolerant?
I want to see how long she can play this game.
“That’s great. Jingwu can bring some gifts and pay a nice visit to your Grandpa.” Said Rhee excitedly, her eyes sparkling.
Nothing could be better than getting to know the parents.
If Jingwu could win over Jian Qing’s Grandpa, her wish of having Jian Qing as her daughter-in-law would be even closer to a reality.
“There’s no need for gifts. My Grandpa just wants to meet Xiaojing,” Jian Qing said with a smile.
Rhee shook her head, “That won’t do. It’s customary for a man to bring gifts when he visits his girlfriend’s parents. When Ahao first visited my father, he prepared a lot of gifts as a token of his intentions.”
“That’s right, Jingwu should definitely prepare some gifts,” the elderly Madame Quan agreed.
Jian Qing, unable to persuade them otherwise, nodded in acquiescence.
Following that, Madame Quan and Rhee began discussing what gifts Jingwu should bring. Jian Qing occasionally chimed in. The three of them seemed to enjoy themselves very much.
Song Xirou was once again forgotten.
Unwilling to let Jian Qing steal all her thunder, Song Xirou spoke again, “Madame Quan, I heard that you are very skilled in making chocolate. Could you teach me some of the techniques you use?”
Rhee, who didn’t particularly like Song Xirou, didn’t immediately agree.
She turned to Jian Qing next to her and asked softly, “Little Qingqing, do you want some chocolate?”
Jian Qing, seeing the expectation in Rhee’s eyes, changed what she was about to say, “Alright.”
If her future daughter-in-law wants to eat chocolate, Rhee would certainly make some.
“Let’s go and make some now.”
Rhee, pulling Jian Qing up, cheerfully set off with her, determined to show off her skills in front of her future daughter-in-law.
Looking at how Jian Qing easily got Rhee on her side made Song Xirou clench her teeth in frustration.
“Xirou, didn’t you want to learn?” Madame Quan, noticing that Song Xirou had yet to move, asked in confusion.
Realizing her lapse, Song Xirou replied with a soft smile, “Yes, I’ll join you. Madame Quan, I will come back to keep you company later.”
Finishing her sentence, she rose to her feet and followed Rhee and Jian Qing.
The kitchen used for making desserts was separate. It was a spacious, clean kitchen with all the necessary tools for making desserts set out on the countertop.
“Little Qingqing, your hand is injured, so just watch from the sidelines.” Rhee said kindly.
Jian Qing nodded and watched as Rhee busied herself in the kitchen. Song Xirou seemed to have some experience making desserts and skillfully gathered the ingredients needed to make chocolate.
Making good chocolate isn’t an easy task.
Rhee prepared the ingredients, starting to work and chatting with Jian Qing.
“Little Qingqing, did you know? I used to love making these little desserts. But that brat, Jingwu, has never appreciated it. Over all these years, he has hardly eaten any sweets I made since he was a child, except for a piece of chocolate when he was very young.”
Since her son did not eat her desserts, she had to feed them all to her husband.
Jian Qing chuckled lightly, “Xiaojing doesn’t really like sweet food.”
Rhee kept working without pausing and looked up at Jian Qing before saying, “If Little Qingqing made chocolate, that brat Jingwu would definitely eat it.”
At her words, Jian Qing had a thought, “Auntie, why don’t you teach me?”
Though her cooking skills were poor, chocolate didn’t require cooking, certainly, it wouldn’t be dangerous enough to blow up the kitchen.
“Now?” Rhee was surprised.
Jian Qing nodded.
“What about your hand?” Rhee asked hesitantly.
“It’s fine, I’ll wear gloves.” Jian Qing picked up the gloves on the table, “Moreover, these are just some scrapes. They’re healing. It’s not a big deal.”
Upon seeing her persistence, Rhee agreed.
“Don’t force yourself. If you can’t do it, so be it. I can teach you next time.”
“Sure,” she nodded.
