Chapter 274: 274、Feeling too Insecure (4)_1
Dawn had broken, the proud sun piercing through the clouds, radiating brilliant and scorching light.
The sea breeze brushed by, causing the light gauze in front of the window to flutter up; the scattered light rays poured in, shining on the intertwined figures on the bed.
Jian Qing stirred awake. Her curled lashes trembled slightly, and as she slowly opened her clear eyes, the first thing she saw was the muscular chest of the man at the foot of her eyes.
In an instant, memories of the previous night flooded into her mind.
Her porcelain-like cheeks warmed slightly. She shifted her body and was immediately met with a soreness that made her want to scream out loud.
“Are you awake, sweetie?” The hoarse voice from above sounded like it had been burned by fire.
Jian Qing looked up, her heart suddenly feeling off balance upon seeing a certain gentleman’s excessively dazzling smile.
She was so tired it felt like she’d been disassembled, while this man was brimming with enthusiasm.
How utterly unfair.
She gave a light hum and turned her head, refusing to look at him.
“Are you angry?”
He contracted his strong arm, encouraging her to lay on top of him, with the twinkle in his eyes beaming brightly.
Jian Qing grunted noncommittally, murmuring quietly
“Not fair!”
At her words, Quan Jingwu laughed, his hand gently stroking her long hair.
After a moment, he held back his laughter and cleverly changed the topic. “Are you hungry? I can make you something to eat.”
Naturally, food was the key to appeasing his wife.
Jian Qing raised her head, glaring at him coquettishly, “Duh, of course I’m hungry.”
Quan Jingwu let out a hearty laugh, leaning down to lightly peck at her red lips.
“What would you like to eat?”
Jian Qing gave him a sideways glance and coolly said, “The Manchu Han Imperial Feast, can you cook that for me?”
He quirked his lips into a wicked smile, “Of course I can. My wife has spoken, so the Manchu Han Imperial Feast shall be made. Or should I dive into the sea and catch fish for you myself?”
“Stop with your flattery.” Jian Qing rolled her eyes at him. She didn’t want him catching fish in the sea. She’d starve waiting for that.
“Hurry up and get me some food. I’m starving to death.”
“Wait here, I’ll go and bring you something.” Quan Jingwu chuckled lightly, playing with her hair before finally getting out of bed.
Jian Qing had never seen him wear red before. A loose red robe draped over his body, combined with his devilishly handsome face, he looked every bit the charming devil.
Her eyes brightened as she stared at him, truly a feast for the eyes.
This man, he was too good-looking to inspire a sense of security.
Catching a glimpse of admir
ation in her gaze, Quan Jingwu was very pleased. With a slight smirk, he intentionally sauntered around in front of her before leisurely leaving the room.
Jian Qing laid in bed for a few more minutes before reluctantly getting up. She slowly dragged her feet towards the bathroom.
While brushing her teeth, she couldn’t help wondering how on earth she had been coaxed to come here just yesterday. That was a serious misstep.
“Sweetie, do you want some juice?” Quan Jingwu’s voice echoed from outside. Jian Qing gargled, and mumbled in response.
“Yes, and toasted bread too.”
In no time at all, Quan Jingwu walked in.
In his hands was a cup of warm boiled water, prompting a look of confusion on Jian Qing’s face. “I said juice.”
“The juice is too cold in the refrigerator. It’s better to drink warm water. I’ve made porridge for you.” As he spoke, he handed the cup to her.
Warmth filled Jian Qing’s heart as she leaned against the door to watch him brush his teeth and wash his face.
Seeing him shave, she suddenly said, “Xiaojing, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you with a beard.”
“Want to see?” Quan Jingwu raised an eyebrow.
“Mmm hmm.”
“Even with a beard, I’ll still be handsome. What would you do if you get too enchanted by it?” He said, full of self-admiration.
Jian Qing clicked her tongue, retorting, “Being so narcissistic first thing in the morning is a problem, you should work on it.”
Quan Jingwu rinsed his face and then took the empty cup that she handed him. Remembering the porridge still cooking outside, he quickly headed out.
