Chapter 294: 294, See how far he can go for you (3)_1

Bryce lightly touched his cheek, then said, “Does this face look unfamiliar? At first, I was even taken aback, but later I gradually got over it.”

“Bryce, what exactly do you want to do?” Jian Luo asked coldly.

“What do I want to do?” Bryce scoffed as he rose to his feet and walked toward Jian Luo, stopping in front of him.

“Jian Luo, your question is quite interesting. Back then, I survived a terrible ordeal, but my face was ruined. I was nearly sentenced to a lifetime of bed rest. All thanks to you. Now you’re asking me what I want to do — don’t you find that laughable?”

Years ago at the edge of a cliff, he backed into a corner and was forced to leap into the sea. Thankfully, he had a stroke of divine luck and survived.

During the aftermath of that year, he barely clung to life, enduring countless surgeries. For a while, he was kept awake every night by excruciating pain. That hellish existence was something he would never forget.

At that moment, he vowed that if he survived, he would not let them go unpunished, even if it meant dragging them down with him.

Jian Luo subtly took a step back, creating some distance between them.

“Bryce, Black Jack gave you a chance back then. You were the one who didn’t take it, so who can you blame?”

“Shut up!” Bryce barked angrily, his eyes bloodshot. “Of course, you’d take Black Jack’s side.”

Jian Luo furrowed his brows, silent.

Bryce waved his hands dismissively and began to speak on his own. “From a young age, Black Jack was the center of attention. Despite being the eldest son of the Sophallo Family, why was I always inferior to him? Just because his mother was lawfully wedded into the Sophallo Family, should I bear the stigma of being an illegitimate child and live in the shadows?”

Perhaps he’d kept his feelings pent up for too long — the more Bryce spoke, the more agitated he became. His forehead veins popped, and spittle flew from his mouth.

“The seat of Count Sophallo was his, all the assets of the Sophallo Family were his, and I got nothing. He had a happy family, and I didn’t. I was just an ill-regarded illegitimate child. Tell me, is that fair? Could I not fight for myself?”

From the day he was born, his father was displeased with him, and his mother was only stern, encouraging him with harsh words. He spent his life in darkness. Even though he was also a child of the Sophallo Family, why did he have to endure so much unfair treatment while Black Jack was celebrated, always encircled by halos?

Jian Luo watched him silently, his lips tightly pressed together.

“Bryce, you’re mistaken.”

Upon hearing that, Bryce whirled around to face him. “What did you say? I am mistaken?”

“Yes,” Jian Luo said calmly.

“You’re mistaken. Back then, Black Jack didn’t want to inherit all of the Sophallo’s family assets, it was your father’s decision. Black Jack had a conversation with your father about your share of the estate, but you were too impatient, and so, you destroyed everything yourself.”

Giving a cold laugh, Bryce retorted, “Do you think I would believe your nonsense? When did the old man ever consider me his son? In his eyes, Black Jack was his only son. In his view, I was just a blight on his life, disposable trash.”

Jian Luo knew that Bryce’s jealousy and hatred had consumed his rationality, so he shifted the subject, “So what? Why did you kidnap me? You should know who the Jian Family is. Capturing me brings you no benefit.”

Bryce smirked, his tone meaningful, “Who said you’re of no use to me? You’re very useful.”

“What do you mean?” A glimmer of unease flashed in Jian Luo’s eyes.

“You’ll find out soon,” Bryce replied.

“Bryce, after going through so much trouble to return to M Country, you wouldn’t want to take us all down with you, would you? If you’ve kidnapped me, you’ve provoked the entire Jian Family. We’ve known each other for some time, you should know what my sister is like.” Jian Luo said.

This was obviously also of great concern to Bryce.

Jian Qing was ruthless. If he hadn’t run out of options, he wouldn’t have laid a finger on Jian Luo. Now, backed into a corner, he had to take a gamble.

“So what? I don’t have the luxury of worrying about that anymore.” Bryce said, “With you in my hands, Jian Qing and Black Jack won’t dare to act rashly. All I need is to reclaim what is rightfully mine.”

Also, he intended to torture Black Jack mercilessly.

Jian Luo looked at him coldly. “Bryce, you’ll regret this.”

“Will I?” Bryce scoffed fearlessly. “Jian Luo, let me help you test how important you are to Black Jack and see what he’s willing to do for you.”

“What are you planning?” A sense of dread filled Jian Luo.

“You will know soon enough,” Bryce said with a cruel smile.

“Aid, lock him in the room.”

“Yes, sir.”

Aid nodded respectfully, then grabbed Jian Luo and shoved him towards a nearby room.

“You don’t have to push. I can walk by myself.”

While struggling with Aid, Jian Luo, without anyone noticing, managed to press a small button protruding on the side of his watch.

A flash of silver light twinkled before it returned to its normal state.

The moment Aid locked Jian Luo in the room, he closed the door behind him.

“Have someone monitor him.” Bryce commanded coldly.

Jian Luo was not the kind to inhabit quietly, it would be better to keep an eye on him to avoid any hitches.

“Yes, Sir,” Aid bowed and headed upstairs to the monitoring room.

Bryce’s gaze swept over the locked door, his smile becoming slightly twisted.

Heh, Black Jack, you must be panicking now, right?

Inside the room, Jian Luo pulled up a chair and sat down.

He noticed a pinhole camera in the corner above him, and a glimmer flickered in his eyes.

The locator had been activated; his sister should be able to find him soon.

He worried, however, that Bryce was truly intent on dragging everyone into oblivion. In which case, matters could become complicated.

Given his demeanor just now, it seemed Bryce simply despised Black Jack, and irrational people could be the most dangerous.
