Chapter 296: Grand Gift 296 (5)_1
Chapter 296: Grand Gift 296 (5)_1
On the road, Black Jack was contacting his special assistant, busy processing the stock transfer documents.
Falling closely behind Quan Jingwu’s car, Bai Jue spoke after he finished his phone call, “… As Jingwu guessed, they are indeed singling one of us out.”
Black Jack bowed his head in silence.
“Black Jack, Bryce harbors resentment towards you. Be careful,” Bai Jue urged.
It was apparent that Bryce was targeting Black Jack this time. As Jian Luo was in his hands, he might exploit him to torment Black Jack.
“Ok,” Black Jack nodded lightly, his heart was knotted, feeling a profound chaos and panic.
When they arrived in the suburb, it was over an hour later.
To avoid startling the snake in the grass, they parked their car by the trees at the edge of the suburb.
Under the shadow of night, four figures stealthily approached the unassuming house.
Ge Di, Jian Qing, and Quan Jingwu abruptly paused in sync.
“What happened?” Bai Jue glanced towards both of them.
“There are bombs.” Jian Qing looked around, her gaze rested on a large tree not too far away.
Hearing that, Bai Jue and Black Jack followed her line of sight. They saw a small red light flashing within the dense branches of the large tree, easy to miss if not inspected carefully.
“Damn it!” Bai Jue couldn’t help but curse.
Bryce was getting more and more deranged. He had planted bombs around the house indiscriminately, seemingly disregarding his safety.
“These are the latest model AIL bombs. There’s probably more planted around this house.” Jian Qing said somberly.
AIL bombs, once one is ignited, all other bombs would automatically detonate. And the most lethal part was that these bombs could be remote controlled.
There’s no need to guess who the person controlling the remote could be other than Bryce.
“Can they be disarmed?” Bai Jue turned to Jian Qing, asking.
Jian Qing shook her head. Without the right equipment, and given that there are patrols around, it would be very difficult to disarm the bombs without alerting anyone.
“So, what do we do now?” asked Bai Jue.
Quan Jingwu pulled Jian Qing closer, his thin, red lips parted slightly, “We wait.”
“But–” Bai Jue furrowed his brows.
“There’s a sniper on the rooftop,” said Quan Jingwu.
Upon hearing this, Bai Jue’s expression darkened. A sniper?
“How did you know that?”
It seemed that the CEO of JK International had some classified identities behind him!
Quan Jingwu arched an eyebrow but he didn’t respond.
“How long do we have to wait?” Black Jack looked at Jian Qing and asked.
“Until daylight,” answered Jian Qing.
If it weren’t for these bombs, they could probably take more proactive actions. But the bombs were remotely controlled by Bryce. If he loses his composure and detonates the bombs, no matter how quickly they react, they could not outrun the explosion.
Quan Jingwu slipped Jian Qing’s cold hands into his coat and said, “Rest against me for now.”
Jian Qing didn’t resist and relied on him for support.
Black Jack and Bai Jue stared at the old, seemingly decrepit house, their eyes gleaming darkly.
Time passed by tickingly; it was excruciating for the folks waiting.
Inside the house, after finishing his call with Black Jack, Bryce couldn’t sleep anymore.
“Any movements?”
Aid shook his head, “No, he’s been sitting inside.”
Bryce furrowed his brow, had an idea, “Bring out what we brought.”
“Sir, are you trying to…?” Aid looked at the closed door speculatively.
Bryce shot him a cold glance, “Just bring it if I told you to. No more nonsense.”
“Yes, sir” Aid quickly obliged and headed upstairs.
Pacing the living room, Bryce waited. Before long, Aid came downstairs with a small box, assisted by three burly men.
“Sir, the things you asked for.”
Bryce gave a satisfied smile and walked toward the tightly shut room.
Aid stepped forward, inserted the key and opened the door.
Inside the room, Jian Luo, alert at the sound, watched the door warily.
The door opened and Bryce and the others stood at the entrance.
“Bryce, what are you doing here?”
Could it be that his sister and Black Jack have arrived?
Bryce walked in first, gave him a once-over, “Jian Luo, I have good news. Black Jack will see you soon.”
“What did you say to him?” Jian Luo stood up abruptly, his frosty eyes fixed on him.
“Nothing much, I just asked him to bring the stock transfer document of the Sophallo Family’s business to ransom you,” Bryce said nonchalantly.
Jian Luo spoke scornfully, “Despicable.”
Bryce didn’t care, “Think as you please. In the meantime, I have a gift for you.”
An alarm rang in Jian Luo’s mind, he slowly moved towards the window.
Bryce saw through his intentions, “No need for the futile attempt. The windows are locked and bombs are planted all around and a sniper is stationed on the rooftop. If you dare to break the window and jump, you’ll be riddled with bullets in no time.”
A shadow passed through Jian Luo’s eyes, he sneered, “Bryce, let me tell you, you can never surpass Black Jack in this lifetime. Because all you know are these low-level, despicable tactics.”
Bryce’s face changed slightly, “Aid, do it.”
“Yes.” Aid opened the box, in which two syringes were neatly placed, along with two small vials of a white liquid.
Jian Luo glanced at the contents of the box and had a bad feeling about this.
“Catch him.” Aid filled the syringes with the white liquid, then looked at Jian Luo.
Three burly men standing behind him moved towards Jian Luo, surrounding him.
“Bryce, what are you trying to do?” Jian Luo’s gaze passed over the three men, focusing directly on Bryce.
Bryce casually put his hands in his pockets, “Jian Luo, this is what I’ve specially prepared for Black Jack. You can try it on his behalf first.”
As Bryce finished speaking, the three men abruptly lunged at Jian Luo.
After resting for several hours, the effects of the drugs had almost worn off. His movements became quicker.
Upon witnessing his three henchmen failing to subdue Jian Luo, Bryce’s face darkened.
“Useless!”
Jian Luo spun around, a swift kick directed at one of the men’s abdomen, followed by a blade-hand strike to his neck.
“Thud–”
The man was knocked to the ground, dusty and disheveled, with blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
Jian Luo looked at the last man. Just as he was about to act, out of the corner of his eye, he saw the muzzle of a black gun pointed at him.
“Jian Luo, seems like I’ve underestimated you.”
Bryce held up his gun, his mouth twisted into a cruel smile.
“How about we see if my gun is faster or your movements are?”
Jian Luo pulled back his hand, and the remaining man immediately grabbed him, pinning his hands behind his back.
Bryce laughed with satisfaction but did not lower his gun.
Aid, understanding, stepped forward. As he prepared to raise the syringe, he heard hurried footsteps coming from outside.
“Master, there’s trouble. Someone is coming.”
A man in black ran in, his eyes filled with panic.
Bryce glanced at the time and found that it was almost six o’clock.
Damn it!
Jian Luo felt a mixture of joy and concern.
“Aid, what are you doing standing there, get on with it.” Bryce raised his eyes to see Aid not moving, and yelled angrily.
Aid, startled, almost lost his grip on the syringe.
Bryce walked over, his gun pointing at Jian Luo’s head, urging Aid with his eyes.
Aid dared not delay, he directed the syringe towards Jian Luo’s arm and jabbed it in.
The sharp pain in his arm caused Jian Luo to watch as the white liquid was injected into his skin, his gentle eyes suddenly darkened.
Bryce glanced out the window, keeping an eye on the situation outside.
Jian Luo clenched his fists and unexpectedly kicked Aid in the abdomen.
The half-used syringe fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.
“Jian Luo, are you asking for death?” Bryce said angrily, pressing the gun against Jian Luo, as if wishing he could pull the trigger right away.
Jian Luo sneered. “If you’ve got the guts, then shoot.”
Bryce picked up a rope and threw it to Aid, “Tie up his hands.”
Aid stood up, clutching his stomach, shot Jian Luo a piercing look, then took the rope to tie his hands, making sure to secure it with a knot.
Bryce grabbed Jian Luo and pushed him towards the door.
“Go.”
As Jian Luo descended the stairs, he looked for an opportunity to escape.
“Open the door.” Bryce ordered.
Aid waved his hand, and the man behind him immediately went forward to open the door.
The door slowly opened, and bright light shone in from outside.
When he saw who was standing at the door, Bryce let a small smile lift the corners of his mouth.
“Impressive, Black Jack, I must say you’re a man of your word.”
Jian Luo looked at Black Jack, and his palms were starting to sweat.
“Jian Luo, have you been hurt?” Black Jack locked his gaze on Jian Luo, and seeing no signs of injury, he slightly relaxed.
Jian Luo shook his head slightly.
Black Jack turned and looked at the man pointing a gun at Jian Luo. He wouldn’t have recognized the unfamiliar face if it hadn’t been for those familiar eyes.
“So, do you like my face?” Bryce asked.
Black Jack pursed his lips, his cold blue eyes staring at him.
“Black Jack, this face is all thanks to you. My downfall today is all thanks to you.” Bryce said sarcastically.
Black Jack snorted. “If I had known then what I know now, I would have killed you with a single bullet.”
“Black Jack, where is the thing I want?” demanded Bryce coldly.
There had always been no remedy for regret in this world. Fate had wanted him to live and seek revenge on them.
Black Jack pulled out a document bag and waved it in front of Bryce’s face. “Want something? Fine. But first, put down your gun. No threatening him.”
“No problem.” Bryce readily agreed.
“We’ll make an exchange, the goods for the person.” said Black Jack.
This time, Bryce said coldly, “Not possible.”
