Chapter 370: 336, Undercurrents in the Library Pavilion (2)_1

Black Jack glanced at him, finding his dark brown hair almost tousled into a bird’s nest, he couldn’t help but curve a smile.

“Don’t worry, with your sister and Quan Jingwu, what’s there to worry about?”

Jian Luo’s mouth corner twitched, “…”

Wasn’t this statement somehow demeaning both his sister and Quan Jingwu?

“Where’s Bai Jue?” he asked.

“He went to the bar.”

The guy who was interested in the opposite sex yet indifferent to others had dropped him off halfway to go to a bar. How unloyal!

Somehow he had an idea, his eyes shining brightly as he looked at the person next to him.

Meeting his gaze, Black Jack felt a bit unnerved.

“Why are you staring at me like that?”

“Black Jack, do you remember you promised to let me see your essay?” Jian Luo said, grinning widely.

He had been waiting all this time for that essay; he remembered Bai Jue telling him that the essay included him.

Back then, he had begged for him to show it, but he never did.

Finally, he had promised to let him see it in person; how could he pass up such an excellent opportunity?

Black Jack’s eye corner twitched, “…”

He thought he had forgotten, but it turned out he remembered after all.

“No going back on your word, you promised me that.” Jian Luo quickly said, fearing he would reneg.

His eyes became darker, “Do you really want to see it?”

“Yes.” He nodded without thinking.

After a moment of silence, Black Jack stood up.

“Let’s go.”

He looked up at him, asking in confusion, “Where to?”

“Don’t you want to see it?”

He grabbed his hand and pulled him up.

Jian Luo looked at the large hand on his wrist, the warmth spread from his palm into his heart, causing a sudden warmth.

He followed him one step behind, glancing at his side profile, and after considering for a moment, did not struggle free from his grasp.

Noticing his compliance, a hint of amusement flashed in Black Jack’s eyes.

The two went to the third floor, which was Fortress’s Library Pavilion, apart from the regular cleaning by the servants, rarely anyone frequented here.

Black Jack opened the door and flipped the switch on the wall.

With a “click”, the bright light instantly drove out the darkness in the Library Pavilion.

The windows in the Library Pavilion were only open during cleaning, as Jian Luo entered, he smelled a slight pungent aroma.

The Library Pavilion took up most of the third floor, the countless bookshelves were lined one after another, and the books displayed on them were overwhelming at a glance. 𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝒐𝒎

With so many books, one could probably never read them all even in a lifetime.

“No wonder I can never find that essay, turns out you have hidden it here.” Jian Luo glanced around the Library Pavilion, clicking his tongue in surprise.

With such a vast Library Pavilion, searching through it would take days and possibly without even finding it.

Was all this necessary? To prevent him from peeking, the essay was hidden here.

Black Jack tugged at his collar, unbuttoning a few top buttons revealing his sexy collarbone. Looking down, one could vaguely see his well-defined chest.

Jian Luo turned his head only to see him rolling up his sleeves, an irresistible sexiness exuding from the casual gesture.

A hint of discomfort flashed in his eyes, he quickly shifted the topic, “Where did you put it? I will help you look for it.”

Black Jack walked to the back of the Library Pavilion, Jian Luo quickly followed.

“You put it inside there?”

Jian Luo looked at the large boxes piled in the corner at the end of the Library Pavilion, and couldn’t help feeling an urge to turn around and leave.

With such a large pile, it would probably take all night to find it.

Was he messing with him?

“Stay here, I’ll go and find it.”

Black Jack pulled up a chair and had him sit down.

Then he walked towards the pile of boxes and started searching.

Jian Luo was watching his back, under the light, his handsome side profile was glowing; even his jawline was extraordinarily enchanting.

He knew he was undeniably attractive, in school, the female students would always deliberately gather around him, and he would receive piles of love letters.

He still remembered once when he and Bai Jue made fun of him with a love letter, Black Jack almost gave him the silent treatment for a week.

Eventually, after relentlessly sticking to him, they finally moved past it.

As he thought about it, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

He got up, rolled up his sleeves, and walked over.

A pair of slender and fair hands came into view, Black Jack’s lips twitched into a smile.

Among four or five large boxes, finding a single notebook was genuinely not an easy task.

Both heads down searching, they accidentally bumped into each other.

Without controlling their strength, the two heads collided, a dull sound echoing.

Jian Luo held his forehead, inhaling sharply from the pain.

“Ssst -”

Damn, why did he feel like he was seeing stars?

Black Jack moved a step closer, pulling down his hand, “Let me see.”

His white forehead was reddened, Black Jack frowned.

He raised his hand to rub it gently, “Does it hurt a lot?”

His large hand was resting on his head; the proximity seemed so close that each other’s breaths seemed audible.

He began to look a bit uneasy, “Well, it’s okay.”

The atmosphere suddenly became a bit awkward, Jian Luo took a step back.

“It’s fine, let’s continue looking.”

Black Jack’s hand lingered in the air, his blue eyes dimmed. He retracted his hand then turned around and continued searching.

Jian Luo watched his silhouette, breathing out a sigh of relief deep inside.

After an unknown amount of time, Black Jack dropped the box and picked up a yellowed notebook.

“Did you find it?”

Jian Luo came over, his eyes falling on the notebook in his hand.

“Yes.” He nodded.

“Let me see.”

Jian Luo grabbed it and ran off to the side.

He leaned against the bookshelf, flipping open the notebook.

For some reason, he felt a bit giddy with excitement.

The yellowed notebook had been stored in the box for a long time, covered in a thin layer of dust.

Jian Luo opened the notebook, only to find that despite its thickness, only a single page had been written on, the rest were blank.

He looked oddly at Black Jack.

What kind of hobby was this? He had only written on one page and then discarded the whole notebook.

He looked down at the first page, it was the essay that Bai Jue had mentioned, the one that should not be seen by others.

The title was – “My ‘Childhood Sweetheart.'”

Seeing those four words, Jian Luo couldn’t help but cough lightly.

What the hell?

He actually wrote about this.

Suppressing his stirring emotions, his gaze moved down, but when he saw the content below, his pupils contracted slightly.

If it weren’t for the familiar handwriting, he would doubt whether this essay was written by Black Jack or not.

The few lines were so…childish that it was tad laughable yet touching.

He swore, this was undoubtedly the most straightforward essay he had ever read.

[Jian Luo, a koala who loves chocolate. He’s slightly dumb and slow, often throwing temper tantrums, likes to hang on me the most. He says he wants me to be his ‘Childhood Sweetheart’ forever. Just to make him happy, I reluctantly agreed.]
