Chapter 421: 407, No Other Meaning (1)_1
A gentle voice, filled with caution.
Khan’s eyes darkened, he pulled her hand away, putting a distance between them.
“Daisy, it’s long been over between us.”
He spoke with his back to her.
Daisy looked at his retreating figure, a sinister glint flashing in her eyes.
She wondered what she had lost to that wretch, Xiya. After all, he was supposed to be her man.
So what if they had broken up, she was determined to win him back.
“Khan, I’m sorry, I was out of line just now.”
Her eyes glossy with tears, she nodded her agreement.
“I’m leaving first.”
Khan’s face softened slightly, and after dropping that line, he left.
“Khan!”
Daisy called out in desperation, but all that answered her was the sound of the door slamming shut.
“Ah–”
She stomped her foot, her chest heaving wildly. It was clear she was simmering with anger.
The sound of her scream echoed in the living room, giving off an eerie feeling.
Once in the car, Khan took out his phone and erased all of Daisy’s contact numbers.
Having done that, he tossed his phone aside and drove off.
…
“Knock, knock, knock–”
“Come in.”
Qin Bo pushed the door open and walked in, saw the crumpled papers littered on the floor, and smiled.
“Qin Bo, what brings you here?”
Jian Luo lifted his head, seeing that it was Qin Bo, he stopped writing.
“Young Master, young master Black Jack is here.”
At his words, a hint of surprise flashed in Jian Luo’s eyes. Just as he was about to speak, a familiar figure walked in.
Footsteps sounded from behind.
Seeing that Black Jack has arrived, Qin Bo gave a slight smile, then excused himself and left.
Black Jack watched Qin Bo walk away, closed the door, and locked it.
“Why did you lock the door?”
Jian Luo, hearing the lock clicked in place, had an uneasy feeling.
Black Jack smiled slightly and sauntered over.
He came to a stop, leaning over the desk and looked at him, “What are you scared of?”
Jian Luo’s heart quickened at the reflection of the handsome man’s face and clear blue eyes.
“Do I look good?”
He leaned in even closer to intimidate him. The sound of his deep voice exploded in his ear.
Jian Luo felt a tingling sensation in his ear. He trembled and the smooth lines on the paper in front went off track.
“Your design draft.”
Black Jack glanced at the blueprints on the table with a downcast gaze, stifling his laughter as he pointed out.
Jian Luo came to himself, looking at his design draft.
In a moment, he felt as if a thunderstorm was crashing through his mind.
“My design draft.”
The corners of his mouth turned down, his back molars clenched tightly.
The corners of Jian Luo’s eyes seemed to glare as he stared at his near-completed design draft while a shadow loomed behind him.
“Black Jack, you devil.”
He’d been working on this draft all day, and now it was ruined.
This guy must have come here on purpose to mess up his work.
Grabbing the draft, he swung it at Black Jack, “You owe me this.”
Black Jack straightened up, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Just now it seemed like you were the one who wasn’t focused.”
Called out on his words, Jian Luo glared at him furiously, “You’re talking nonsense, it was clearly you, intentionally bothering me all this while.”
“Bothering?”
Black Jack raised an eyebrow, giving him a penetrating look.
“Are you sure?”
Jian Luo felt his hairs stand on end under that gaze, and his confidence wavered.
“Never mind, just leave, stop disturbing my work.”
These drafts were of immediate need, there was no room for delay.
“I heard you’re going to Beijing tomorrow?” Black Jack pulled out a chair and sat down directly.
“Who told you?” Jian Luo crumpled the scrapped design draft into a ball and threw it in the trash bin.
“Was it that big mouth Bai Jue?”
Black Jack responded with a question of his own, “Why didn’t you tell me you were going to Beijing?”
His magnetic voice hid a glimmer of anger.
“Going to Beijing isn’t such a big deal, not worth mentioning.” Jian Luo muttered, lowering his head.
“Luo Xiaobai.” Black Jack called out in a serious tone.
A hint of annoyance surfaced on Jian Luo’s delicate face, “Alright, alright, I’ll tell you in advance next time.”
“What are you going to Beijing for?” Black Jack asked.
“My sister called me, and asked if I wanted to collaborate with JK International.” Jian Luo’s eyelashes lowered as he spoke.
He knew that on the surface, his elder sister was using the excuse of cooperation with Quan Jingwu, but she actually wanted him to meet Mo Xiao.
“Collaborate?” Black Jack frowned.
Jian Qing answered with a hum, “Jewellery.”
“Don’t want to go?” He tapped the tabletop with his fingertip, looking at the figure lying on the table.
Jian Luo shook his head.
A glimpse of understanding flashed in Black Jack’s eyes, “You don’t want to meet him?”
Jian Luo hesitated upon hearing this.
After a long time, he spoke in a quiet voice, “Actually, I met him a long time ago.”
“Hm?”
“That one time I was in the hospital because of my hand injury, he was being assassinated, and I happened to run into it.”
No wonder he’d always felt familiar with him, and inexplicably felt close to him.
So, this was the so-called father-son instinct.
“Come here.”
Black Jack leaned back, his voice deep.
Jian Luo looked at him in confusion, “What for?”
“You’ll know when you come over.”
Jian Luo gave him a probing stare, but ultimately stood up and walked over.
Just as he got close, a large hand gripped his wrist.
“You…”
He lightly contracted his pupils, but before he could utter a word, he found himself pressed against the man’s sturdy chest.
“Sss—”
Jian Luo sucked in a breath, rubbing his forehead.
Damn it, is this guy trying to murder me?
Black Jack pulled his hand away to rub his forehead for him.
The two were so close that their breaths intertwined.
The faint smell of cologne wafted into his nose, blistering Jian Luo’s face. It wasn’t until then that he realized he was sitting on his lap.
His ears burned red and he hastily tried to stand.
Black Jack tightened his grip, preventing him from getting up, “Where are you going?”
“Let me go.” Jian Luo could not even muster the courage to meet his gaze, struggling with all his strength.
“I won’t.” Black Jack responded nonchalantly.
Jian Luo raised his eyes, irritation flickering in his soft gaze, “What the hell are you trying to do?”
“I’m going to Beijing with you.” Black Jack changed the subject, a serious look on his handsome face.
Jian Luo was taken aback, then immediately responded, “No.”
As the words fell, the temperature in the study plummeted.
Black Jack’s blue eyes clouded over, his grip gradually tightening.
Jian Luo felt a sting on his wrist and furrowed his brow.
Noticing his discomfort, Black Jack loosened his grip slightly.
“Why?”
He asked in a low, hoarse voice, a hint of hurt in his tone.
“It’s not like that, it’s just…”
The words died on Jian Luo’s lips, he didn’t know how to explain.
Unable to bear his struggle, Black Jack said, “Never mind, you go ahead by yourself. I’ll come to find you later, just take good care of yourself.”
Seeing the previously sparkling blue eyes now covered in gloom, Jian Luo’s heart twisted, and he carefully asked, “Black Jack, are you angry?”
Black Jack shook his head, reaching up to mess up Jian Luo’s chestnut hair.
The more he acted like this, the more guilty Jian Luo felt.
“Black Jack, I…”
“Alright, I’m really not angry.” Black Jack cut him off.
Jian Luo looked at him skeptically, clearly unconvinced.
