Chapter 425: 411, Goodbye is Friend (2)_1
“Honey, you can’t take him away. The ones you should be arresting are them, they are the culprits!” Pan Yan finally snapped out of it, seeing Lu Ming being handcuffed, she was instantly distressed.
She dashed over, and in a panic, clung to Lu Ming’s arm, refusing to let Hen Lian take him away.
“Mrs. Lu, I suggest you come to the station also.” Hen Lian said, undeterred, his tone stern.
Pan Yan froze. Before she could react, Hen Lian’s men had handcuffed her too.
“No! I don’t want to go!”
Pan Yan’s eyes welled with tears, a surge of terror rose from the bottom of her heart.
“Take them away.” Hen Lian ordered.
“No, I don’t want to go. Let me go, let me go!”
Pan Yan violently struggled, her shrieks piercing the air all the way.
On the contrary, Lu Ming, after being handcuffed, remained calm throughout.
Before leaving, Shen Hao handed over a file to Hen Lian to be taken away.
“Yi Kai, don’t you think Lu Ming’s calmness is somewhat unusual?” Zeng Hang questioned.
Yi Kai scoffed, “He is certainly smarter than his wife. He knows that no matter how much he begs the Boss, it will be useless. So he simply allowed Hen Lian to take him away, probably even thinking that Chu Yihen would save him. That’s just too naive.”
Throughout this entire matter, Chu Yihen had only supported Lu Group with funding. He was not directly involved in the scandal at Radiant Jewelry; at best, he had just expedited the approval process. Lu Ming’s assumption that Chu Yihen would help him was grossly misguided. Should this matter go under, the first person Chu Yihen would remove would be Lu Ming.
Upon hearing this, Zeng Hang understood the implications of his statement and soon burst into laughter.
The Lu couple were brought back to the police station, attracting glances from passerby along the way. Soon, the news of the Lu Group’s scandal involving JK International’s radioactive jewelry was released.
Within an hour, Lu Group’s stocks went into free fall and companies that collaborated with Lu Group demanded to terminate their contracts.
About the same time as everyone was shocked by the scandal at the Lu Group, an unexpected news exploded in Beijing.
The mysterious Third Month was reportedly going to cooperate with JK International, and for the first time, would make a public appearance at the joint press conference.
Once this news broke out, not only did the people in Beijing go wild, but fans of Third Month from all around the world also went into frenzy.
Everyone was aware that Third Month’s fashion line was a global sensation, yet few people knew who was behind it. The fact that this person was going to make a public appearance was certainly one of the major events of the year.
In this regard, everyone’s admiration for JK International rose up another notch. They were able to attract the reclusive Third Month, signifying their profound influence and power.
However, as soon as the news broke, it was naturally a mixed bag of reactions.
Sitting at his desk, Chu Yihen’s handsome face turned gloomy, his hand was tightly gripping around a pen which had snapped in two. The depth of his anger was clear to see.
“CEO, how should we handle Lu Ming?”
Wang Lei scrutinized his boss’s reaction, asking cautiously.
“Withdraw our financial assistance to the Lu Group and send a message to them. I don’t want to see Lu Ming anywhere but behind bars,” Chu Yihen’s gaze fell on the broken pen on the table, a sinister dark color swirling in his eyes.
This mishap was solely due to Lu Ming’s misguided wisdom. It served him right. Even if Quan Jingwu found out that he had fast-tracked the approval process, how was that significant? Based on that alone, Quan Jingwu wouldn’t be able to cause him any trouble.
“Yes.” Wang Lei replied.
“Is there anything else?”
“CEO, there’s something I don’t quite understand. If you knew beforehand that Lu Ming would end up like this, why didn’t you stop him?”
Chu Yihen smirked, “Why should I stop him? If Quan Jingwu could be brought down so easily, he would be not Quan Jingwu. Lu Ming only served to irritate Quan Jingwu as a pawn. Hoping that he could bring Quan Jingwu down, heh, that’s just wishful thinking.”
An insignificant pawn, losing it wouldn’t matter.
Wang Lei understood Chu Yihen’s intention and soon exited the room.
…
After finishing their grocery shopping, Jian Qing and Xiya returned home.
In the car, Xiya couldn’t stop talking, causing Jian Qing to keep smiling.
Jian Qing had one hand on the steering wheel, maintaining a steady speed.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a figure near their house. Her eyebrows lifted in curiosity.
“Darling, did your younger brother dye his hair?”
Xiya too noticed the person by the entrance and asked curiously.
“Luoluo should have just arrived.” Jian Qing shook her head.
Moreover, Luoluo never liked to dye his hair.
As the car approached, Jian Qing and Xiya were able to see clearly who was outside.
Jian Qing’s eyes flashed with surprise, why was he here?
Next to her, Xiya’s smile faded, her eyes flashed with complexity.
“Darling, you didn’t inform him, did you?” she asked softly.
Jian Qing replied, “I truly had no clue about this.”
Xiya gave a slight smile, her voice lightened, “It doesn’t matter. After all, I did say that, once we meet, we’re just friends, there’s nothing to fuss over. But for our little princess, could you lend me a hand?”
“Are you saying…” Jian Qing had a rough idea of what Xiya was implying.
Xiya nodded, “He and I are over.”
Therefore, there was no need to use their daughter as a bond between them anymore. It’s unnecessary.
Jian Qing sighed helplessly, “As long as you’re happy.”
“Of course I am happy. Come on, give me a kiss.” Xiya giggled, though her heart was not as relaxed as she appeared.
Seeing Xiya’s puckered lips, Jian Qing rolled his eyes.
“I’m driving, stop messing around!”
For the sake of her little princess, Xiya obediently returned to her seat.
Behind them, the noise from the car’s engine was especially loud.
Eyes lighting up, the man turned around swiftly.
Through the windshield, he saw the person whom he’d been thinking about longingly.
Jian Qing parked the car and unbuckled her seatbelt.
Looking at the person next to her who was still stationary, she reminded her.
“Get out of the car.”
Xiya replied with a hum and slowly released her seatbelt.
Just as she climbed out of the car, a tall figure rushed over.
Xiya quickly moved behind Jian Qing, leaving the man’s embrace empty. A glimmer of melancholy passed through his deep, brown eyes.
“Darling, you must protect me.”
Xiya hid behind Jian Qing, whispering into her ear.
Jian Qing didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She raised her eyes towards the man rushing over, raising her hand in greeting, “Khan, long time no see.”
“Jian!”
Khan’s gaze skipped over Jian Qing, looking affectionately at the woman behind her.
The three of them stood by the entrance, the atmosphere slightly awkward.
After a moment, Xiya took a deep breath and calmly stepped out from behind Jian Qing.
She raised her head, the corners of her mouth turned up in a light smile. She waved at Khan, “Yo, Khan, long time no see.”
See? She could greet him like before, couldn’t she?
