Chapter 453: 439, Xiya Fights Monsters (3)_1
The old master grunted coldly, “Luoluo was born in March. What does that have to do with you? If you don’t have capabilities of your own, then don’t be jealous of others.”
These words were not only directed at Yang Xiang, but also made An Yu and the others slightly uncomfortable.
“Grandpa, we didn’t mean it that way,” An Yu stammered plaintively.
The stern expression on the old master’s face, coupled with his naturally imposing demeanor, made An Yu and the others genuinely fearful.
Zhou Qi, unusually silent, was glued to the TV. She watched the young boy on the screen who bore some resemblance to An Zhe and felt an inexplicable mix of emotions in her heart.
“Aqiu, get the car ready. I’m off to play chess with Old Han,” the old master got up, leaning on his cane.
“Yes.”
Aqiu helped him out slowly.
Once the old master was gone, Yang Xiang could no longer contain her temper.
“Mom, now Jian Qing is going to be even more smug. It’s so infuriating. Why does all the good fortune always fall onto her?”
An Rong frowned, “You should behave yourself and stop talking nonsense outside. Your uncle is fiercely protecting his son right now. If he hears about this, I won’t be able to help you.”
Yang Xiang stomped her foot in frustration and huffily sat down.
“Mom, what are you thinking about?” An Rong looked at Zhou Qi, who had been quiet, and couldn’t help but feel curious.
Under normal circumstances, her mother would’ve already started grumbling and complaining.
“Arong, this child, Jian Luo…” A flicker of uncertainty crossed Zhou Qi’s mind.
If Azhe remains single for life, at least there’s Jian Luo. And Jian Luo is exceptional, he could bring honor to the An family.
“Mom, you’re not suggesting accepting Jian Luo and Jian Qing, are you?” An Rong widened her eyes, her tone hinted disapproval.
“Do you want them to enter our An family? Don’t forget how miserably my sister was hurt by Jian Qing.”
Zhou Qi’s face fell, “I could never accept Jian Qing. She’s arrogant and condescending. If she were to become a part of our An family, I’d have to live under her thumb.”
Hearing this, An Rong sighed in relief.
“But Jian Luo, after all, is Azhe’s son,” Zhou Qi added.
Her statement was rather amusing, weren’t Jian Luo and Jian Qing from the same father?
“Mom, when Jian Luo visited here last time, you saw how he listened to Jian Qing. Even if you accept him, there’s no guarantee he would acknowledge you. We don’t want to lose face, do we?” An Rong instigated.
Zhou Qi glanced at her daughter, then refocused her eyes on the TV screen.
…
At this moment, Xiya, who was at home, saw the news on TV. Just as she turned off the TV, she received a call from an unknown number.
“Who is this?”
“Xiya, it’s Daisy.”
Xiya’s smile faded as the gentle voice came through the phone.
“What is it?” she asked calmly.
Daisy replied, “Xiya, there’s something I need to discuss with you. Could we meet in person?”
“Just say it here, let’s skip the meeting.” A sarcastic smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
“Xiya, I understand that you dislike me, but this matter is truly important. I won’t take too much of your time, and it’s also related to Khan.”
Xiya’s knuckles turned white, a flicker of darkness passed in her eyes.
Is she thinking she’s one of those simple-minded girls from TV?
Xiya thought, let’s play along. Since she was bored anyway, she wanted to see what Daisy was up to.
“When and where?”
Daisy, thrilled, quickly responded, “Are you free now? I’m at the café, waiting for you.”
“Send me the address.”
After saying that, Xiya hung up the call.
Soon, a message notification rang on her phone.
Xiya glanced at the address Daisy sent and there was a hint of mockery in her eyes.
She got up slowly, supporting her belly.
“Little beauty, mommy is going to take you on an adventure.”
After changing her clothes, Xiya put on her sunglasses and left.
When she arrived at the café, not many people were there. She immediately spotted the person sitting by the window.
Daisy noticed her too and waved at her.
Xiya lowered her cap and leisurely walked over.
Daisy’s gaze dropped to Xiya’s pregnant belly, noticeable even under clothing, and a hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.
Smiling like she’d met an old friend, she gestured, “Sit!”
Xiya pulled out a chair and sat down across from her.
“Would you like something to drink?” Daisy asked.
Xiya’s fingers lightly tapped the table as she replied, “No, thank you. Didn’t you say you had something to discuss?”
“Xiya, are you pregnant?” Daisy feigned surprise and asked intentionally.
A smile tugged at the corner of Xiya’s lips, “As you can see. Is there a problem?”
With a gentle smile on her face, Daisy said, “It’s been a while since I last saw you, I didn’t expect you to be pregnant. I even thought I’d seen wrong.”
Xiya remained silent, watching Daisy acting.
“Xiya, it appears you’re quite far along. How many months are you?” Daisy asked with a curious gaze, apparently showing some concern.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with what you want to talk about, does it?” Xiya responded coldly.
Daisy nervously brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and said, “Xiya, I was just concerned about you, nothing else.”
Xiya rested her chin on her hand and tilted her head, looking entirely relaxed.
“Thank you for your concern, but-”
She paused, her partially hidden eyes glanced at Daisy, “I don’t need it.”
Such a ‘concern’ of a white lotus, she couldn’t afford to accept.
Such pretense, better save it for someone else.
Daisy’s face slightly changed, she forced a smile, “Xiya, I know you hate me and don’t like me, but I never intended to interfere between you and Khan. I think you’ve misunderstood me.”
“Ha!” Xiya let out a cold laugh.
Then, she took off her sunglasses and tossed them on the table.
“Misunderstood?”
Her lazy voice rose slightly, carrying a hint of chill.
“I think, we barely know each other. So, it’s unnecessary to bring out ‘misunderstanding’ between strangers. Don’t you think?”
Despite her elaborate makeup, Daisy couldn’t hide the embarrassment on her face. She looked at Xiya helplessly.
“Xiya, I honestly never intended to compete with you for Khan. I know my past with Khan is over. Although we once loved each other, I know he loves you now. I was weak and needed help, so out of his old feelings for me, he took care of me. So, don’t misunderstand him.”
Having listened, Xiya was somewhat annoyed, she tapped the table rhythmically.
“Finished?”
Daisy hands, which were under the table, clenched tightly. She was pissed at Xiya’s calmness.
She was eager to see how long Xiya could remain calm. She didn’t believe that Xiya could be completely indifferent to Khan.
