Chapter 53: 53, come down to open the door_1

Jian Qing stared at the cake in front of her, her eyes drooping as her thoughts wandered far away. The bewitching hue of those purple eyes flashed through her mind.

“Jian, I’m serious, the way he looks at you is different.” He too was a man; how could he not notice the difference. The look in Quan Jingwu’s eyes every time he looked at Jian Qing, was much the same as when he looked at Xiya.

Jian Qing’s black hair obscured her eyes. All Khan could see were her tightly pursed lips, and after a moment of silence, her cool voice rang out, “Is that so? Or perhaps you’re mistaken.”

Khan’s words felt like a punch in a bunch of cotton, his voice filled with helplessness, “Okay, let’s just say I’m mistaken.”

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving.” Jian Qing finished her last sip of coffee, slowly stood up and left. Khan watched her moving figure without uttering a word.

“Jian, if you encounter it, don’t force yourself to escape.” Khan’s voice was soft, but he knew she heard it.

Hardly two steps out the door, Jian Qing’s footsteps faltered, but only for a moment, before promptly walking out of the café.

Inside the café, Khan lifted his coffee for a sip. His thin lips curled up into a smile. Things were starting to become interesting, weren’t they?

Upon returning to Shijin Haoting, Jian Qing was unable to sleep. She lay in bed, unable to fall asleep, sat up and looked out of the window. The words from Khan seemed like a small stone thrown into the pond of her heart, stirring ripples. Her thoughts rippled little by little, echoing in her mind.

Suddenly, the buzz of her cell phone brought her back from her drifting thoughts. Jian Qing picked it up, held it to her ear, and before she could speak, the voice on the other end of the phone started speaking excitedly.

“Dear Jian, what are you doing? Fancy a drink?” Xiya’s teasing voice came over the phone. Jian Qing laughed lightly.

“You and Khan are definitely in sync. The moment I finished meeting him, you called.” Jian Qing joked.

A sudden silence on the other end of the phone. Jian Qing wasn’t in a hurry, and waited. Soon, Xiya’s voice came again, “You saw him? He came to see you?”

Jian Qing curved her lips into a teasing smile, “Thanks to you. I agreed to cooperate with JK International, I ran into him when I went to JK International today.”

“He… well, never mind.” Xiya stumbled over her words, finally letting out a sigh.

Jian Qing shook her head, cheekily retorting, “Just ask him directly if you want to know anything. It’s so unlike you to be so hesitant.”

“No one asked, who cares about him!” Xiya huffed angrily, clearly annoyed.

Who cares about that horse breeder? She isn’t that bored.

“Look, don’t always bring me up when both of you have issues to deal with.” Jian Qing barely suppressed her laughter as she replied at a leisurely pace.

A visible vein popped on Xiya’s forehead, “I have nothing to do with him, and you’re ruining my reputation.”

Jian Qing threw off the blanket, got down from the bed and padded towards the carpeted floor, “Tell me honestly, you don’t plan to ever forgive him?”

“There was never anything between us to begin with. We’re friends, there’s nothing to forgive.” Xiya’s voice was softer; her seemingly indifferent tone bore a trace of sadness which Jian Qing pin pointed.

“Xiya, do you really consider him a friend?” Jian Qing leaned against the window, the reflecting light from her eyes mirrored the clear azure sky.

Xiya became silent before speaking faintly, “Jian, you know me. Maybe if he truly understood what I wanted, we might stand a chance.”

Jian Qing listened in silence, playing the role of a focused listener. Later, Xiya regained her energetic enthusiasm.

“Dear Jian, why don’t you marry me instead? We can live a loving life together.” Xiya said teasingly.

Jian Qing chuckled lightly, playing along, “Sure.”

“Oh yes, I heard that the CEO of JK International is so handsome that it causes resentment among both gods and humans, and is as cold as an iceberg. You saw him today, right? How was he?” Xiya asked, gossiping.

Jian Qing cocked her head in thought, mesmerizing purple eyes, sexy thin lips, a man’s well-defined handsome face appeared clearly in front of her.

Based on looks alone, the description of being a ‘bane of blue face’ didn’t suffice.

As for being as cold as an iceberg, she didn’t quite get that.

“So, how is he? Hurry up, tell me.” Jian Qing remained quiet for too long, causing Xiya to be anxious.

Jian Qing snapped back to reality, clearing her throat, “I think you should see him in person to get a better idea.”

“Oh, never mind then. I heard Quan Jingwu isn’t easy to get close to. Apparently, no woman who dares to approach him within two meters has ended up with a pretty outcome.” Xiya chuckled dismissively.

Jian Qing’s eyes widened. Where did this rumor come from? If it was true, she would likely meet a similar fate.

After a lengthy hour-long chat with Xiya, they would have continued if not for Xiya’s agent urging her to end the call.

After hanging up, Jian Qing nestled on the hammock by the railing. Perhaps it was because it was getting late, the wind felt a bit cold. It was so pleasant that she felt sleepy.

She ended up dozing off for almost two hours. When she woke up, it was already dark.

Hissing in discomfort, Jian Qing realized her foot had gone numb. She sat on the hammock for so long, leaving her entire body aching.

After a few minutes, she managed to get up from the hammock. Flipping the light switch, the warm yellow light made the room feel cozier.

Glancing at the wall clock, it was already past seven. Jian Qing picked up a set of clothing and headed to the bathroom.

Half-dressed and fresh from the shower, her phone rang. Jian Qing hurriedly put on her shirt, her hair still damp from the shower.

Very few people knew her number, and it was unlikely that her grandpa or Luoluo would call at this hour.

Walking over the wet floor, creating footprints as she went, Jian Qing quickly went over and picked up the phone. Seeing an unfamiliar number, she was puzzled.

Without thinking, Jian Qing answered the call, a deep masculine voice came over the phone, “Come down and open the door.”

Jian Qing looked surprised. This voice was too distinctive for her to pretend she wasn’t familiar with it. Walking over to the window and looking down, she saw a black Rolls-Royce parked downstairs. She was at a loss for words.

“Jian Qing.” The man’s pleasant voice came again, and Jian Qing hurriedly responded.

“Wait a moment.” She quickly hung up, grabbed a towel to dry her damp hair and rushed down the stairs.
