Chapter 63: 63, The Most Suitable One (PK Seeking Collection)_1
In what was usually a bustling time, the café was quiet; only one table was occupied in the expansive café.
With his legs crossed, Khan observed with interest the person opposite him, who had asked him out.
“Miss Chu, is your invitation just an excuse to have coffee with me?”
The woman opposite him was dressed in a white dress. It was Chu Ruohan.
A slight curve appeared on Chu Ruohan’s lips, “Conversations are simpler with intelligent people.”
Khan laughed lightly, “I’m all ears.”
“I’ll cut to the chase, I want the opportunity to be the ambassador for this jewelry collection,” Chu Ruohan explained her intention straightforwardly.
One of Khan’s eyebrows shot up, “Miss Chu, why are you suddenly interested in being a jewelry ambassador? If I remember correctly, your background allows you to choose from numerous brands.”
The saying goes: where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There had to be an ulterior motive.
“I am extremely fond of the jewelry you design, which is why I proposed this request,” Chu Ruohan explained softly, “I hope you can give us an opportunity to collaborate.”
Khan’s deep brown eyes darkened as he took a sip of his coffee, a sarcastic laugh right beneath the surface.
Observing his silence, Chu Ruohan remained calm, as if everything was within her control. The seeming arrogance made Khan curious about her source of confidence.
After a while, Khan looked at her and said leisurely, “Whether you really like the jewelry I designed or it’s because of JK International, it doesn’t matter to me. But I can tell you this, I don’t have the power to choose who the jewelry ambassador will be. You might want to ask the CEO of JK International about that.”
Given her flattery towards Jingwu at the photoshoot, it was plain to see she was targeting him. Otherwise, with her status in the Chu family, there would be no need for her to become a jewelry ambassador.
“State your conditions. As long as they’re within my means, I’ll fulfill them. In exchange, you would need to recommend me as a jewelry ambassador to Jingwu,” Chu Ruohan said confidently while looking at him. 𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝙗.𝒄𝒐𝒎
Heihei, Khan chuckled, propping his chin and looking at Chu Ruohan with a glint of cold light in his eyes, “I apologize, but it seems like I have to disappoint you. I can’t help with this.”
He was neither in need of money nor reputation, so why should he help her?
She was deluded to think she could establish any connection she wanted just because she had the Chu family as her backup.
“Are you— are you sure you won’t reconsider?” asked Chu Ruohan, surprised by Khan’s blunt refusal, a trace of dismay apparent on her face.
Khan nodded and a strange curve appeared at the corner of his lips, “Although, I can give you a piece of advice that might offer a slim chance.”
Chu Ruohan, “What?”
“You know that the power to choose the model for the jewelry photoshoot is in Jian Qing’s hands. There’s a chance she might help you if you talk to her,” Khan leaned back on his chair, the corner of his mouth curled in a wicked smile.
“You’re playing with me,” Chu Ruohan said with an unhappy face.
Khan held up his hands and laughed innocently, “I wouldn’t dare play with you, Miss Chu. I was stating the truth, and I can assure you that if Jian Qing agrees, you could undoubtedly become the jewelry ambassador.”
What he said was indeed the truth. It was clear that Jingwu had a thing for Jian Qing, and Khan believed that he would undoubtedly agree if Jian Qing were willing to speak up.
However, the precondition was for Jian Qing to take Chu Ruohan’s side and like her.
From what he could tell, the chances were slim.
Chu Ruohan detested Jian Qing from the bottom of her heart. She wouldn’t dream of making amends with Jian Qing.
Why did she need Jian Qing to agree for her to have a chance at becoming the jewelry ambassador? She believed there must be other ways.
“Looking at your expression, Miss Chu, are there any conflicts between you and Miss Jian?” asked Khan, narrowing his eyes as he questioned in a low tone.
Chu Ruohan quickly concealed her dissatisfaction, and a smile returned to her face, “There’s no conflict between us. How could there be? On the contrary, you and Jian Qing seem to get along quite well.”
“Miss Jian is a nice person,” Khan responded lightly.
“Is that so?” Chu Ruohan laughed absentmindedly.
Unbeknownst to everyone, a figure clad in black was crouched outside the window, a petite yet sophisticated camera directed towards Khan.
…
After having lunch with Jingwu, Jian Qing was planning on leaving, but he didn’t want to let her go.
“Jingwu, don’t you have anything better to do?” Jian Qing tugged at the doorknob in annoyance, only to find that the door wouldn’t open, she turned her head angrily to glance at the man sitting on the sofa.
This lock was certainly not ordinary; although she could possibly open it, she didn’t have any tools handy.
Seeing her flare up, Jingwu was in high spirits. A smile appeared on the corner of his lips as he approached and grabbed her hand, pushing her against the wall, “Not really, I just want to spend more time with you.”
Her heartbeat quickened. As she lifted her eyes, she could feel the closeness of their breaths, and she was left breathless.
“Xiya is looking for me.” Jian Qing looked at him helplessly as he held her hand tight.
“Is she more important than me?” His deep mesmerizing voice carried a subtle tinge of jealousy.
Jian Qing, …
Not wanting to trouble her further, Jingwu sighed and switched the topic, “Offer some reward, and I’ll let you go.”
“I’ll have dinner with you tonight,” replied Jian Qing without hesitation.
“Come up with something else.” He wouldn’t be content with such a small compensation.
“How about a kiss, a hug, or a lift? Which one do you find suitable?” asked Jian Qing smirking.
Conveniently climbing up the ladder she had set, Jingwu replied, “The first one seems suitable.”
“Keep dreaming.” Jian Qing immediately dashed cold water on it. “Forget about having dinner together then, I’ll head back to the An family’s place tonight.”
He had lost to her. Jingwu released her hand, running his fingers across her nose.
“I concede defeat, go,” he said, picking up the remote on the bookshelf and pressing a button. The door beeped.
Hearing words of acknowledgement of defeat from him, Jian Qing thought she likely was the first.
“See you tonight.”
Waving at him with a wide smile, Jian Qing opened the door and left directly, completely ignoring the melancholy expression on the face of the man behind her.
