After the meeting ended, this director purposely had someone scrutinize the meeting minutes prepared by Su Hongxing and to his surprise, her notes were incredibly detailed with no omissions of key issues.
In the end, he was the one who had been petty-minded.
After the meeting, Su Hongxing was famished. A feast was already prepared in the office, and she began eating as soon as she picked up her chopsticks.
Ye Qilan watched her, feeling very satisfied in his heart.
They would be together in the future, work together, commute together, live together — this was the beautiful life he had been longing for.
For lunch, Su Hongxing ate quite a lot and shortly after, she began dozing off again.
After letting the food settle, she headed to the lounge to lie down and was about to sleep when she suddenly remembered her period was late. Frightened to her core, she bolted upright.

The next day, she woke up next to Xiao Ji, so bewildered that she completely forgot to take the morning-after pill.
The worst part was that she had consumed a hallucinogenic drug right before she got in bed with Ye Qilan on that fateful night. Not just her, Ye Qilan had also consumed it. Even though the doctor reassured her that the hallucinogenic drug wouldn’t harm her body when Xiao Ji took her to the hospital, she was still worried that if she were indeed pregnant, she wouldn’t be able to keep the baby.
With this concern on her mind, Su Hongxing could no longer fall asleep.
Thinking that Su Hongxing was already asleep, Ye Qilan decided to sneak in to take a glance at her.
To his surprise, once he entered, he saw Su Hongxing sitting on the bed in a daze, with a look of dilemma and annoyance on her face, seemingly lost in thought.
“I thought you were tired? Why aren’t you sleeping?” Ye Qilan sat down next to Su Hongxing.
Su Hongxing just stared blankly at Ye Qilan, not knowing what to say.
He didn’t even know that Little Pudding was his daughter yet. How should she tell him that she was possibly pregnant again? And what’s more, she hadn’t even done a check-up to know whether or not she could keep the baby.
But they were together 24/7, there was no way she could possibly avoid him and do a pregnancy test by herself.
“It’s rare to see you so dazed.” Ye Qilan gently poked Su Hongxing’s tender face.
Su Hongxing lowered her eyes and murmured, “I want to sleep for a while, you can go back to what you were doing.”
Seeing her like this, Ye Qilan misunderstood Su Hongxing’s withdrawal as her pushing him away, and hence he got up and said, “You can sleep as much as you want, I’ll go out and work.”
As he stood at the door, he hoped Su Hongxing would look at him, but she kept her head bowed down and didn’t look up at him at all.
He chuckled at himself, mocking his own greed.
There would be plenty of time for them in the future. One day, she would let go of her reservations and genuinely be with him.
After Ye Qilan left, Su Hongxing tried to sleep but found it impossible. She had no idea how to broach the topic with Ye Qilan because Cao Zhen had orchestrated the incident from years ago, and she had been kept in the dark as well.
In the end, she decided to clandestinely get herself a pregnancy test from the pharmacy. Before she discussed it further, she needed to confirm if she was actually expecting.
With a plan in her mind, there was no need for her to worry anymore. Instead of tossing and turning in bed without getting any sleep, she might as well go back to work.
