Chapter 834 -834: Did He Touch You?
Su Hongxing was secretly alarmed. She tossed Little Pudding to Ye Qilan and stood up, smiling at Cao Shiyu, “Qingyin, let’s go. I have something I want to ask you.”
Cao Shiyu nodded, walked to the office door, and looked back towards Ye Qilan’s direction. She saw both Ye Qilan and Little Pudding watching her, the father and daughter wearing similarly unfriendly expressions.
Her expression slightly darkened—she closed the door and asked, “What does sister want to ask me?”
“Do you plan to keep working or have you thought about finishing your studies before working?” Su Hongxing made conversation.
“I like working and not studying. Sister, has the brother-in-law said something to you?” Cao Shiyu asked nervously.
Could it be Ye Qilan wanted to drive her away, and Su Hongxing was testing her response?
“You know what Ye Qilan is like. He said he doesn’t want to see you during work hours, and yet he has to be with you at Qingmu Garden in the evening. Maybe it’s because of that morning’s incident, he got a misunderstanding about you. You just keep working here, I’ll talk to Ye Qilan again,” Su Hongxing said, half-sincerely.
Cao Shiyu managed a slight smile, “Thank you, sister. I’m lucky to have you protecting me, otherwise, I’d definitely be all alone.”
“What are you talking about, silly? We’re sisters; who else would I protect if not you?” Su Hongxing spoke, then paused, abruptly asking, “That morning’s incident, can you tell me about it? Ye Qilan explained it to me, but I still want to hear your side.”
Cao Shiyu found it strange that Su Hongxing had not asked her about that morning until now.
It appeared that Su Hongxing didn’t fully trust Ye Qilan, otherwise, she wouldn’t bring it up after so much time had passed.
A clever woman must know how to play dumb, but Su Hongxing wasn’t clever enough.
This was her chance to stir up trouble, and she had to seize it; otherwise, there would be no next opportunity.
“Sister, I can’t say. If the brother-in-law finds out, he’ll kill me,” Cao Shiyu said fearfully.
Su Hongxing observed Cao Shiyu’s expression, secretly thinking this woman’s knack for acting hadn’t changed—it was just like the real thing.
“You just tell the truth. I won’t tell Ye Qilan. Right now, I just want to know the truth,” Su Hongxing paused, “Did he touch you?”
Cao Shiyu looked panicked and confused, “No, nothing like that happened, sister. Please don’t ask anymore. Nothing inappropriate happened between me and the brother-in-law. Even if something did happen, it was while the brother-in-law was unconscious…”
“So what you mean is, he actually did touch you?” Su Hongxing said, laughing bitterly, “And to think how much I trusted him. He, on the other hand, hasn’t been truthful at all, making me believe nothing had happened between you two.” 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓅𝓊𝒷.𝓬𝓸𝓂
“Sister, it’s really not what you think. Please let me finish!” Cao Shiyu pleaded urgently.
“You don’t need to say anymore, I understand. No wonder he doesn’t want you living at Qingmu Garden. He’s afraid you’ll tell me the truth. Qingyin, I’ve trusted the wrong person; what should I do? I’m thinking of moving out of Qingmu Garden,” Su Hongxing said in a low voice.
It was also an impromptu thought—maybe she could provoke Cao Shiyu into thinking there was a rift between her and Ye Qilan, and in Cao Shiyu’s arrogance, she might reach out to Liu Yuan sooner.
These days, they had all been waiting, hoping Cao Shiyu would call Liu Yuan, but from the wiretaps, Cao Shiyu hadn’t called anyone.
Wasting time like this wasn’t working; it was better to take the initiative.
