"Miss, please buy our magical items too!"
"Pack up everything!"
"Miss, we have the best metal in Empire!"
"I want that too!"
"Miss, please look at our best jewels!"
"That’s good too. I want everything. This is the Emperor’s favor. Put it all on his account."
Many merchants in the downtown area crowded around Sylvia to offer their goods.
Many merchants brought several large wooden boxes filled with their best products, and Sylvia wanted them all without exception. She tossed bills at the Devil Emperor and exploited the so-called favor very well.
Several imperial guards came over, but Sylvia handled them well because the blood jade plaque in her posession was authentic. Therefore, the imperial guards ended up as her porters.
It was only about an hour, and Sylvia immediately ran away from the city as soon as she emptied more than half of the shops in the downtown area.
"Fufu, that’s so much fun! This little thing is so useful." Sylvia regrouped with Ely’s group outside the city gate.
"It’s good if you enjoy it. The Imperial Family will send people or have their eyes on us soon. Let’s head straight to Urylas City." Ely also felt happy.
She closed her grimoire. The quest was complete, and Sylvia gained a lot of benefits. They could move on to the next event, namely Sylvia’s revenge.
Ely and everyone then left the capital city and headed southwest.
Meanwhile, the Imperial Castle was confused because they had received a considerable amount of bills all of a sudden, and the amount they had to pay was ridiculous. 𝓃𝓸𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶
"Minister Ran, these are the invoices sent to us by over a hundred merchants. But why did our Emperor buy this much stuff?" A servant put a stack of papers on the table.
"How should I know? That’s clearly not him. How could this person buy this and that on His Majesty’s behalf?" Minister Ran asked with a frown.
He took a piece of paper and opened his eyes in shock when he saw the amount they needed to pay. And there were still more than a hundred bills!
"Based on the information, she used Emperor Damon’s blood jade plaque to buy things."
"What!? Did His Majesty lose his blood-jade plaque, and someone took advantage of it? Or perhaps, someone scammed people with the fake plaque?"
"Some imperial knights happened to be in the vicinity, and they ended up helping that devil girl to carry things for her. The blood jade plaque is authentic..."
"How did that happen!? So, His Majesty lost his jade plaque for real! Then, do we have to pay all of this for that bastard!? Drag that bastard over here!"
"Sir, they have already left the capital city. Reportedly, they are heading southwest."
"Goddamn! I will tell this to His Majesty first. It’s hurt to waste two years of Empire’s revenue on a scammer."
Minister Ran left with a big stride towards the Emperor’s room. He brought two servants who knew more about the situation in the field with him.
"Your Majesty, this is bad!" Minister Ran opened the door in a hurry.
The white-haired man stood by the window, looking at the sky. The window was open, and his black cloak fluttered with the wind.
His blood-red vampire eyes glanced sideways because someone suddenly entered his room. "Hou, what could make you so agitated, Minister Ran?"
Minister Ran took a breath and then reported the situation. "Your Majesty, have you lost your blood jade plaque? Someone picked it up and exploited it to buy two years of Empire revenue!"
"Is that so? What does this person look like?" Emperor Damon’s eyes gleamed slightly.
Minister Ran asked the servant to draw the person who scammed the merchants.
"This... So, it is her. Why didn’t she come to me? Why did she do such a trivial thing?" Emperor Damon stared at the black and white painting of a devil girl in reminiscence.
The painting didn’t do justice to depicting her true beauty. Still, he could more or less guess it was her... the super-powerful devil from several years ago.
"Your Majesty, do you know the devil in the painting? How about your blood jade plaque?" Minister Ran was confused because Emperor Damon was still so relaxed and acting like nothing had happened.
"I gave that to my savior a few years ago. It’s only two years’ worth of revenue. Use my personal money if it’s not enough. Do anything to please her. But, where is she now?" Emperor Damon put the painting down, then looked at the two servants behind Minister Ran.
"They’ve gone southwest." One of the servants answered.
"Southwest?" Emperor Damon frowned.
"Err... Your Majesty, may I know what kind of relationship you have with this devil girl? Are we going to get an Empress soon?" Minister Ran rubbed his hands together with a meaningful smile on his face.
"Get that idea out of your mind, and please be respectful to her. Do you still remember the black purgatory incident?" Emperor Damon squinted his eyes as he felt his minister had a strange idea.
"Black purgatory!?" Minister Ran gasped in surprise but still couldn’t connect that horrifying event with the devil girl in question.
"She was the one who massacred everyone there, including the two Devil Ancestors. She accidentally saved me from that coup scheme. That everlasting black fire is hers. Before she left, I gave her a token of gratitude." Emperor Damon rested his cheek against his hand as he looked at the night sky.
"!?" Minister Ran and the two servants were still shocked by that revelation.
So, the one they considered a scammer was the super-powerful devil who possessed the Emperor’s favor. The mysterious expert eliminated the Empire’s threats and accidentally saved Emperor Damon from that trap and scheme.
Even so, they couldn’t understand why such an expert would buy all sorts of things and pass the bills to their side just like that. She should have come to see Emperor Damon first!
"I need to go southwest. Her destination is probably Urylas City. Notify the first battalion to go with me." Emperor Damon immediately moved away.
"Your Majesty, do you want to hunt her? Why do you want to dispatch the first battalion and go in person?" Minister Ran immediately chased after him as he felt something was wrong.
"I’ve been investigating for years. Her involvement with Count Devonshire Clan is not normal, and I think something is happening between her and that clan. Since she came here so blatantly, we need to know what she wants. She didn’t come alone either. I must know the truth." Emperor Damon left in a hurry to prepare to leave immediately.
The imperial knights then departed to the southwest, led by Emperor Damon. Minister Ran and other powerful devils immediately followed suit as they felt the situation could get too complicated.
Somewhere in a fortified city next to a large river in the southwest mountains, Ely was observing a particular grand mansion from a distance.
Her Sacred Vision was active. She spotted the devil, who had similar evil energy in Sylvia’s body.
"I’ve found them." Ely deactivated her Scared Vision.
"Them? It isn’t just one devil?" Sylvia stared at the grand mansion in the distance.
"Yes, that’s two. The weaker evil energy is the vampire overlord, Ulysses Devonshire. The other one has potent evil energy, and he is underground. I can’t see anything beyond the barrier. This old monster is probably the vampire’s ancestor." Ely elaborated on the results of her observations.
Her vision got blocked by a potent barrier as she tried to peer deep underground. So, a secret was clearly stored there.
"Two people, huh... They stand no chance before me, and I won’t fall into that trap again." Sylvia snorted and crossed her arms.
"Where did your confidence come from? You could have fallen into a more potent trap and become our enemy again. Due to that flawed inheritance, your spirit has become quite vulnerable to spiritual attacks." Yuuki released a spiritual attack for demonstration.
"Hey, stop it. With Ely by my side, I’m invincible. I’ll deal with this flawed inheritance later. It can’t be thrown away that easily, you idiot. That would also be a shame, right? It’s ancient magic and more..." Sylvia immediately moved away from Yuuki.
"But you are playing with fire, Sylvi. Ely, do you have anything to prevent any evil energy influence?" Evelyn was worried.
"Yes, I have it. We will move in a quarter of an hour. Sylvi, you are the one who will exact your revenge. Now, come with me. We need to eliminate the evil energy remnants in your body completely." Ely turned around and went to the nearby abandoned wooden house.
She entered a room with Sylvia, Yuuki, Evelyn, and Kirara. Her disciples stood guard outside the room. Remembering Kirara’s case, she also asked Rafaela and Remiel for help if they needed to deal with a tricky devil’s soul remnant.
