"The villain has been captured!"

"This big evil is too dangerous to be allowed to live. Only death can neutralize the threat, so it won’t harm anyone."

"No, we need to interrogate her first before her public execution! She destroyed the entire southeastern coastal region and killed tens of thousands of lives. Humans, animals, and even insects are not spared."

"We still need to handle the aftermath of this blood-red region. The ancient ruins may be beneath that valley. However, this villain still has many other terrifying monsters and massive weapons of destruction.

"She is only a 7th Rank demonized human, but her threat is already at the 10th Rank class. Not to mention her army of demons..."

"Burn her!"

Many people, including top-tier experts, gathered around the captured villain. They clamoured about how they would punish the evil and deal with the aftermath.

"Silence!" Yuuki spoke coldly, and she intimidated the noisy people with her aura. She checked the unconscious Heavenly Demon to ensure something, but those people were so loud.

"!!!"

The 10th Rank pressure made the surrounding people shut their mouths. The peak-level powerhouses had yet to speak anything.

"We need to listen to what she has to say. She will still be punished for all the sins she has committed." Ely manifested a white flame on her palm.

That fire looked harmless. Yet, anything within its scope got purified.

"Yeah, that will do just fine." Feng Xue nodded in agreement as she would support Saintess Miko’s decision.

"But, how are you going to interrogate her? As you can see, she is a super vicious demon. She and her army of demons slaughtered tens of thousands of souls in this region in just six hours! She is a Demon God Inheritor, for goodness sake." One of the elders pointed at the villain as if he couldn’t wait for the villain to be punished as severely as possible.

"We also lost many warriors while eliminating the undead and demonic golems. To all the people she killed and the warriors who died on the battlefield, please punish her with a death penalty." Another elder spat out his thoughts.

’Are our people okay? Is anyone hurt?’ Ely approached Gabriella and spoke via the telepathy talisman.

’Our people only suffered minor injuries, master. But Blood Moon and Frozen Cloud got a few casualties.’ Gabriella shook her head.

Ely heaved a sigh of relief.

As for the fallen warriors from the other group... she could only pray for them. It was a battlefield, and they were ready to die as warriors. So, she let it stay like that.

"She is indeed unconscious. Her soul was shaken by an unknown impact, and her spiritual power and cultivation strength have been sealed." Yuuki reported the situation.

"That’s obvious, right? Miko and I did the job neatly. The situation would be much worse if we didn’t defeat this one immediately. Then, how do we make her wake up? Eve, can your electric shock do the job?" Sylvia put her dark spear back into her bracelet with some pride. She then nudged her human friend.

"But, you also let her go to summon that massive floating fortress..." Yuuki muttered softly under her breath.

"Let me try it." Evelyn accumulated some lightning in her hand, then focused it into a subtle stream of electricity.

She sent it to electrocute the unconscious Heavenly Demon Inheritor.

*Bzzt*

"!?" Hexira was electrocuted and woke up because of the sudden sense of danger.

She looked around and found she was surrounded by many experts but smirked at them sarcastically. "Am I caught? You’re not bad, but do you think you’ve won? It’s one against many. Do you think that’s great?"

"And you have tens of thousands of undead and demonic golems. Not to mention that massive monster. We have annihilated your army. You have lost, but you can’t accept it." Feng Xue snorted sarcastically.

Hexira tried to free herself, but she could barely muster her strength. It was as if she was suddenly reduced to the mortal level.

She laughed out loud as she wouldn’t die even if killed. "Kekeke, hahaha! Then, do what you want to do. I am a God. No mortals can kill the God! Neither past, present, nor future... I’m immortal!"

That exclamation pissed off many people, but Ely immediately spoke up. "Allow me to talk to her."

Her friends and disciples stepped back, and she crouched to speak to the Heavenly Demon Inheritor.

"What is your name?"

"Do you want to interrogate me?"

"I wonder what you have to say. It’s about you. What is your reasoning for committing such a massive massacre?"

"Those lowly mortals should be proud to be a part of my undead army."

"That’s just your wishful thinking. I can hear their faint screams... they ask us to avenge them."

"I have refined them. How can they scream?"

"Where is the other Heavenly Demon?"

"Do you think I will talk?"

"Why are there so many Demon God’s remnants in this mortal world? After the decisive war that led to world destruction, you all fell from the upper realm?"

"Heh~"

...

Ely then tried to extract the information from the Heavenly Demon Inheritor’s mouth. Some people suggested a mind reading because the villain mostly refused to answer, but she forbade anyone from doing that.

The reason was simple. Anyone who dared to try soul searching or mind reading at the 14th Rank Heavenly Demon soul would only get one outcome, namely death.

"Hehee... It’s wonderful. You have many friends and allies, but ultimately, they are your weakness. One day, you will see them die one by one until you end up all alone. You will despair, but I shall kill you the last." Hexira didn’t lose her smile despite her predicament.

She was still trying to remove the troublesome seals and said anything to buy time.

"Why do you say that to me? I’m just a weak mortal in your eyes." Ely waved her hand, blocking the unknown frequency signal that Hexira was emitting.

After saying that, Ely glanced at the surrounding people. She shook her head once, then manifested purgatory on her palm. "Let’s do it like this. Survive from this white fire, and I will release you."

"What!?" The surrounding people were surprised. They couldn’t believe what they had just heard. Everyone wanted the villain to die. Yet! Saintess Miko would set the villain free to commit another massacre!?

"Hold your horse. Saintess Miko is wise. She hasn’t finished talking yet." Kirara spread her arms wide.

"Heh. So, is that like the previous trick? You freed me, but the people behind you couldn’t wait to kill me." Hexira snorted sarcastically.

"That is your problem, but I will provide a way out if you survive purgatory. It is not too late to repent and become a good demon like my devil friend." Ely pointed at Sylvia.

"Repent!? Do you even know what Heavens did to me and my race? I will destroy the Heavens, including those Sky People!"

"I don’t know what happened to you. You have the freedom to seek revenge. However, you massacred far too many people and caused a tragedy we cannot let slip by. If you can’t be saved, then please forgive me. Purgatory..."

Ely swung her arm from right to left, spreading white flames to the Heavenly Demon Inheritor from head to toe.

The purgatory could burn a God without residue if the conditions were fulfilled, but it got amplified! It was one of her blessings, and the current purgatory was strengthened by her passive skills and an SS Rank artifact.

The white flame fell, enlarged, and completely enveloped the Heavenly Demon Inheritor.

Ely stepped back, but the laughter sounded from within the purgatory.

"Hahaha! This kind of weak fire can’t harm me! Even if you completely burn my flesh to ashes, I can always escape and return later once these shackles are broken. I will give you a gruesome death, priestess!"

"What’s going on?" Yuuki was taken aback.

The previous Demon God’s soul essence was burned to nothingness in Ely’s purgatory in seconds. However, she had no idea why this Heavenly Demon could still laugh while being burned alive in purgatory.

Ely only raised her hand to the side. She knew the effect would occur soon... when the purgatory touched the Heavenly Demon Soul.

A few seconds later, agonized groans and screams of pain soon resounded within the purgatory.

"Argh! What’s this!? The seals are intact, and I’m burned alive! You damned priestess! Who are you! Aaahh!!!"

After the final deafening scream, no more sounds could be heard within the purgatory. A flash of red mist broke through the void, but nobody noticed it.

"Sorry..." A weak voice sounded from within the dimming purgatory.

Ely could see a faint human girl’s soul remnant apologized before being burned into particles in purgatory. It was not Hexira, but the vessel, the village girl’s soul... the girl who abandoned her humanity.

"Apologize to those you killed. But, farewell." Ely clasped her hands in prayer.

At the same time, thousands of wisps floated out of the undead on the ground. They expressed their gratitude before going to the afterlife.

Ely looked up at the sky with a mixed feeling. So many people died.

But, the dead were freed from the Heavenly Demon’s control and went to the afterlife peacefully.

Unfortunately, only a few people could see or hear those departed souls. So, only a few understood what she was currently feeling.

It was a bit complicated, but she eliminated the significant threat for the good of the world. The Heavenly Demon Inheritor couldn’t be saved, and an actual death was the inevitable outcome under the purgatory.

Ely extinguished her purgatory after a moment of silence before it spread to the surrounding area. She then opened her grimoire to check her quest page.

It gave her a feeling of relief and satisfaction. She couldn’t help but smile when she found that the quest related to the Heavenly Demon Inheritor was declared complete. Unfortunately, it was not entirely a success...
