Chapter 120: Chapter 120 Farewell
In the blink of an eye, a week had passed, and the whole tribe worked tirelessly. Today was the day Lucas was going to his parents’ house to tell them about his plans to leave with Kyra.
"Why do I need to go with you? Just go yourself." Vincent said, pushing Lucas away, who wanted to introduce him to his mother.
Kyra stepped out, dressed and ready. When she heard Vincent refuse to go, she walked towards him and held his hand gently. "You should come, Vincent. We’re family now," she said softly.
Vincent looked at Kyra, who smiled at him like an angel. He nodded his head, swallowing hard.
"Let’s go." Lucas said, and they began their journey to meet his parents.
As Lucas stood in front of the familiar house, nostalgia washed over him, bringing back a flood of memories. Every corner of the house held a piece of his childhood.
’Cub’ his mom’s voice echoed in his mind, ’My cub’ She always called him that, even though he had grown into a man.
His steps grew heavier with each stride. He knew he shouldn’t be so attached to his mom and dads.
Most males, once they matured, left the tribe or married a female, dedicating their entire lives to her from that point on.
Gina sensed Lucas’s presence even before she saw him. She lifted herself from bed, a huge smile spreading across her lips, and ran outside.
"Cub..." she shouted, her voice filled with joy as she ran towards him.
Lucas lowered his eyes as he hugged his mom tightly, feeling the warmth and love he was about to leave behind.
"Mom, how many times have I told you not to call me Cub? I’m grown up now." Lucas said, pouting, but today his eyes held a deep sadness. He knew this moment was a farewell to the life he had always known.
"Lucas." his dad Wilson called out as he and the others came outside.
Gina broke the hug and walked to Kyra, embracing her tightly. "My Kyra, looking sweet as always. Is Cub treating you alright? If not, I’ll punch him." Gina said, rubbing Kyra’s cheeks and glaring playfully at Lucas.
"Mom--" Lucas began, his voice heavy with emotion.
"Ah, you’re the Feral King!" Gina exclaimed, running towards Vincent. "We didn’t have a chance to meet properly that day! Hi! I’m Gina, Cub mother." she said happily, hugging him too.
Vincent stiffened, unsure how to react. He felt Gina’s motherly love in her embrace, but it was new and overwhelming for him.
"Oh my god! Silly me, why are we all standing outside? Come inside!" Gina said as she broke the hug with Vincent and slapped her forehead lightly. "Adam, prepare some juice and fruits." she called out, and Adam nodded, heading towards the kitchen.
Gina helped them to sit on the sofa and looked at them with a warm smile.
"Haha! Cub, you have something to tell me. Say it, but stop shaking your legs." Gina said with a smile. She knew all her Cub’s habits and could see he wanted to say something but was hesitating. It made her wonder what could make him so nervous.
"Mom," Lucas’s voice trembled. "I am leaving."
The words echoed in her mind. ’I am leaving. I am leaving.’
Gina’s mind went blank. Her eyes instantly reddened, and her smile became a forced one. Her eyes filled with moisture, and it looked like she was about to cry. Finally, big, fat tears started falling from her eyes as she looked at Lucas.
"You’re leaving the tribe?" Her voice was tinged with sadness, but she forced a happy smile. "Finally, my Cub has grown up and is about to start his own family."
"Mom," Lucas walked toward his mom and hugged her once more, rubbing his head against her cheek. "Don’t worry. I will always come to visit you."
Kyra added softly, "Please, anuty, don’t cry. We will always visit you whenever we have time."
Gina wiped her tears and glared at Kyra playfully. "Call me Mom, not Aunty."
"Mom." Kyra shouted sweetly, making Gina’s heart melt.
Gina stood up and walked toward Kyra. "Please, Kyra, take care of my Cub. You know how clumsy and mischievous he is. Please control him, or who knows when he’ll get kidnapped again? Do you know he has been kidnapped three times before, but the kidnappers sent him back themselves, saying, ’Take him back, he’s too much trouble’? It’s good that the Feral King was able to tolerate him..." She paused, feeling thirsty, and asked her husband for water. After taking a sip, she continued, "Although he’s very mischievous, he has a good heart but the memory of a goldfish. So please, take care of him. He might look capable, but let me tell you, he’s just like a child." she said, holding Kyra’s hand and looking at her with big, blue, wet eyes.
Lucas: ???
Lucas stood there, slightly embarrassed but deeply touched.
Kyra looked into Gina’s big, wet blue eyes, which were so similar to Lucas’s. "Sure," she said gently, as she took Gina into another hug.
Gina then walked towards Vincent, who towered over her. She raised her head to look up at him. "You’re also like my son. You look mature, so please take care of my Cub! I know males have to take care of themselves, but don’t forget to support each other in every situation." Gina said, becoming excited as she held his hands.
Vincent looked down at her, his body stiffened, but he nodded his head, feeling the warmth of her motherly love.
Gina smiled and walked back to Lucas, hugging her baby Cub once more. "I will miss you, Cub. By the way, where are you going? Do you know?" she asked.
"Mom! Did you forget? Vincent is building a new tribe. We just have to cross the forest near the bridge and settle near the mountain river." he said excitedly.
Gina’s eyes widened, and she slapped his head. "You made me cry buckets of tears for nothing, adopted son!"
