Chapter 169: Chapter 169 Call me rainbow
Damon put Kyra comfortably in bed, his movements gentle and careful. He kissed her forehead softly, his eyes lingering on her lips.
They looked so tempting, and he couldn’t help but wonder what they might feel like against his own. His heart started beating faster at the thought.
’If I just take a little taste, it should be fine, right?’ he thought, leaning closer.
His breath mingled with hers as he hovered just above her lips, the temptation growing stronger. Just a little peek, he told himself. His lips brushed against hers softly, a mere whisper of a kiss.
Kyra stirred slightly in her sleep, her lips parting ever so slightly, and Damon felt a surge of desire. He deepened the kiss just a bit, feeling the softness of her lips against his. It was everything he had imagined and more. He pulled back slowly, not wanting to wake her but savoring the moment.
As he watched her sleep, Damon felt a mix of emotions. Guilt for taking advantage of her sleeping, but also a deep, undeniable attraction that he couldn’t ignore. He gently brushed a lock of hair from her face, his heart swelling with emotions he had never felt before.
However, he didn’t regret kissing her. Suddenly, Kyra caught his hand, and his heart almost dropped. "Little thing," he whispered, unsure if she was awake or still dreaming.
"Vins! Why are you calling me ’little thing’? Call me Rainbow like you do. I love that..." she muttered in her sleep, holding his hand and bringing it to her mouth to kiss it wetly.
Damon froze. It felt like he had been thrown into an icy cellar. His silver eyes darkened, a storm brewing within them. His hand clenched into a fist, the veins standing out starkly against his skin.
Jealousy and anger twisted inside him. Who was Vins? Her mate that she always miss And why did she want to be called Rainbow by him? Damon couldn’t stand the thought of another male being so close to her, making her feel loved and cherished. The possessiveness he felt was overwhelming.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the rage bubbling up inside him. He couldn’t lose control, not now.
Gently, he pried his hand from her grip, even as a part of him longed to keep it there, to feel her warmth and tenderness.
Damon’s mind swirled with jealousy and confusion. Was she kissed him with those lips, the same he tasted now? Was she happily loved in that male’s arms?
Damon didn’t want to hurt her, so he walked to another room, his steps quick and agitated. As he passed a table, he accidentally knocked a file to the ground, and a photocopy fell near his feet. He picked it up and stared at the image: two males sleeping together, their noses red and shiny.
It was a photo of Lucas and Vincent, which Kyra had secretly captured when they were bitten by mosquitoes.
Seeing the picture, Damon’s mood lifted. If they were handsome, it might have been a problem, but they looked quite silly in the photo. Damon felt a surge of confidence. He knew Kyra loved them despite their appearance, and he was certain that with his own looks and presence, he could easily capture Kyra’s attention.
He smirked, recalling how flustered Kyra had been the first time she saw his body. "They may be her mates, but they can’t compete with me," he thought, his jealousy easing.
In a good mood, Damon looked around the room, growing more amazed with each discovery. Kyra was really different from other females. She was smart and a perfect match for him.
Shaking off the thoughts, he continued to explore.
The capsule’s default modern setting was incredible.
If this portable house was such a masterpiece, he couldn’t wait to see Kyra’s original home.
Damon noticed a weird door, opened it, and saw the cave they had taken refuge in. The rainstorm had covered half of the cave with snow, and the cold was intensely freezing.
Shifting into his dragon form, he started digging out the snow, uncovering the cave. He wanted to make sure that when Kyra woke up, she would have something delicious to eat. After clearing the entrance, he walked back to the capsule, closed the door securely, and looked around for a big rock to cover the entrance of the cave.
Finally satisfied that she was safe, Damon flew into the sky, searching for food.
Damon soared through the sky, his keen dragon eyes scanning the snow-covered landscape below for any signs of life.
The harsh winter had driven most animals into hiding, making his hunt for food challenging. He flew over dense forests, vast open fields, and frozen rivers, but everywhere he looked, the world was blanketed in a thick layer of snow.
After a few hours of fruitless searching, he began to grow frustrated. The animals were smart enough to stay hidden during such a fierce storm, and the cold was biting even for a dragon. Determined not to return empty-handed, Damon decided to look for any plants or fruits that might have survived the winter.
He landed in a dense forest, his heavy dragon form sinking slightly into the snow. Shifting back into his human form, he began to explore the underbrush, brushing away snow with his hands. After some time, he found a few hardy plants that managed to survive the freezing temperatures.
He picked some winterberries, their bright red color standing out against the white snow. These berries were small but packed with nutrients, making them a valuable find.
Continuing his search, Damon discovered a patch of wild garlic. The strong smell was unmistakable, even in the cold. He carefully dug up the bulbs, knowing they would add flavor and sustenance to their meal. His search also led him to a few frozen wild mushrooms clinging to the base of an old tree. He harvested them, hoping they were still edible despite the frost.
With a modest collection of winterberries, wild garlic, and mushrooms, Damon decided to head back to the cave. It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing. As he made his way back, he kept an eye out for any signs of animal life, hoping for a last-minute stroke of luck.
