Chapter 231: Chapter 231 Silas (1)
"Kyra... that female was truly amazing," Lara said softly to her other mates, who hadn’t accompanied her during the contest. Her voice was filled with admiration and gratitude, though it was tinged with sadness. "Not only did she win the beauty contest, but she also saved Meeko. If she hadn’t found us, I don’t know what I would have done... My other offspring already died, and if I had lost Meeko too..." Her voice cracked as the weight of what could have been overwhelmed her, and tears began to stream down her cheeks.
Her mates immediately moved closer, wrapping her in their warm embrace. They held her tightly, their presence comforting and steady. "Don’t worry, Lara," one of her mates whispered soothingly. "We will try again during your next heat. We won’t give up."
Lara nodded, her tears still falling but her heart feeling a little lighter with their support. She looked up at one of her mates, the most gorgeous of them all, who had pretty brown eyes that seemed to hold all the warmth in the world. His soft cloud of red hair framed his strong, well-built physique, and just looking at him brought her a small sense of peace.
"Ah, yes, what were you saying about that female? Oh, what’s her name again?" he asked, his voice gentle as he tried to steer the conversation away from the sorrow that had taken hold of Lara’s heart. He could see the redness around her eyes and wanted to see her smile again, even if just a little.
"Her name is... Kyra," Lara said, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand. The name held a new significance for her now, filled with both respect and a lingering sadness.
Just as the words left her lips, the room suddenly burst open. Lara’s eyes widened in shock as she saw her brother, Silas, standing in the doorway. His face was tense, his eyes wild with urgency.
"Watch what you’re doing!" one of Lara’s mates snapped, his tone cold and protective. "We don’t care if you’re king or anything else, but you will not dare enter while your sister is talking with her mates privately, Silas!" The mate, who was one of the strongest among them, stood up from the large custom-made bed that could easily fit more than ten people, his posture defensive.
"What are you doing in our home?" another mate, with sharp dark eyes, demanded, his voice laced with suspicion and irritation.
Silas didn’t seem to care about their hostility. His focus was entirely on Lara, his expression one of disbelief and confusion. "What did you just say, Lara?"
"Female?" Lara asked, confusion knitting her brows together.
"No, before that," Silas pressed, his voice low but intense.
"Stop, Silas," one of her mates interjected, stepping forward to shield Lara from her brother’s sudden intrusion. "Your sister is already upset. If you have something to say, be gentle about it."
"What did you just say before, Lara?" His voice was low, almost a growl, vibrating with an intensity that caught everyone off guard.
Lara blinked in confusion, not understanding why her brother was reacting so strangely. "I said... Kyra," she repeated, her tone uncertain as she tried to make sense of his sudden change in his aura.
But it was as if the name struck Silas with the force of a physical blow. His breath hitched, and for a moment, the air in the room seemed to still. His eyes, once sharp and focused, darkened, a storm brewing within them as if the world had suddenly shifted beneath his feet.
He took a small, involuntary step back, his composure cracking just enough for those around him to notice.
"Silas, what—?" Lara started, her concern growing as she saw her brother’s expression change from one of confusion to something much deeper, almost unreadable.
But before she could finish her question, Silas turned abruptly, his movements almost frantic as if he needed to escape. Without a word, he stormed out of the room, leaving everyone stunned.
"Silas!" Lara called after him, her voice filled with worry, but he was already gone, disappearing through the doorway like a shadow fleeing the light.
Her mates exchanged uneasy glances, their earlier hostility replaced by genuine concern. "What just happened?" one of them asked, his voice heavy with confusion.
"Why did he react like that? What’s wrong with him?" another mate added, stepping closer to Lara as if to shield her from whatever had just transpired.
Lara shook her head, still trying to process what had just happened. "I don’t know... He just... left like he heard something he shouldn’t have," she said, her voice tinged with confusion.
The room fell into an uneasy silence. Lara and her mates exchanged concerned glances, sensing that something was deeply wrong. The way Silas had reacted, the way his expression had darkened so suddenly—it had everything to do with the name she had just spoken. But what connection could her brother possibly have with Kyra that would cause such a visceral reaction?
"Maybe he knows that female," one of her mates suggested, his voice uncertain but thoughtful.
Another mate nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I think so too... Maybe he likes that female," he added, though his tone was more confused than convinced.
Lara frowned, trying to piece it together. "Who knows? It would be great if my brother liked Kyra... Meeko was also missing her so much. He always talks about her and the pretty wolf and dragon," she said, letting out a small laugh.

"The f*ck is wrong with you, dude? Why are you almost destroying your flower valley after asking to arrange it for your someone special ?" Rowan said in disbelief, his tone sharp but laced with genuine concern. Rowan was a striking figure with brown hair that fell in messy waves, and eyes that shone like the sun itself. His tanned skin contrasted sharply against the vibrant red of the flowers, making him stand out even more.
