Chapter 314: Chapter 314 Where you are, there’s me
After reaching back to the treehouse, Kyra couldn’t help but ask Damon, "When are we leaving? I can already feel summer beginning, and Vincent... maybe he’s out of hibernation by now. He must be so anxious..." She began pacing around the living room, her mind racing with worry.
Lucas, watching her from where he sat, chuckled and said, "Ky-ky, stop. You’re making me dizzy just looking at you. And don’t forget, you’ve got little snakes in your stomach that need rest too."
Kyra froze at his words. Little snakes?
"Hey..." she walked toward them, her face a mix of confusion and anxiety. "What did you just say?"
Damon, noticing her sudden stillness, raised a brow. "What’s wrong, little thing?"
"So... I’ll lay eggs? Will my babies be born as snakes?" she asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "I heard snakes give birth in litters... will I lay a bunch of eggs too?"
Lucas quickly pulled her into his lap, gently cupping her face. "It’s fine, Ky-ky, relax. Yes, it depends on the situation. From what I’ve heard, if you’re pregnant with boys, they’ll be born in eggs, but only in their beast form. If it’s a girl, she’ll be born in her human form, no eggs. So don’t worry, okay?" He leaned closer, trying to soothe her. "And yes, we’re leaving in a week, back to Celestia. We’ll reunite with Vincent. I miss him so much. After that, we’ll go back home and see Mom, Daddy’s, Toma, Jimmy, and everyone."
Kyra leaned into his touch, smiling softly. "I can’t wait for that," she whispered, feeling a sense of calm return. But then, her expression changed again, sadness clouding her eyes as she looked toward Damon. 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝑝𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Damon, always attuned to her emotions, leaned forward. "What is it, little thing?" he asked, his tone gentle yet concerned.
Kyra hesitated, not wanting to burden Damon with her worries. What she needed to ask him was important—so important that she didn’t know how he would react. The weight of it sat heavy in her chest, but she couldn’t keep it inside any longer.
She stood up slowly from Lucas’s lap, feeling his warmth slip away as she crossed the room toward Damon. Lucas shifted and lay back on the sofa, one hand dangling carelessly over the side, his ocean-blue eyes watching her and Damon closely, but he said nothing.
Damon’s sharp, silver eyes were already on her when she reached him, sensing her unease. "What happened, little thing?" he asked softly, his voice deep as he reached out and pulled her toward him.
She sank comfortably into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck as his familiar scent wrapped around her. His face was as sharp and handsome as ever, those piercing silver eyes filled with warmth. She couldn’t believe how much had changed between them—how close they had grown. The thought made her heart swell.
Kyra smiled playfully, leaning in to kiss his cheek, then his nose. A spark of mischief danced in her eyes, and Damon looked at her in amusement.
"My little thing is being a baby," he teased, but his tone was soft, almost tender.
She pouted her lips and playfully bit his neck, her small teeth grazing his skin. Damon’s expression shifted immediately, darkening with intensity. His voice dropped, low and dangerous, "Little thing, don’t try provoking me..."
His arms circled around her waist, pulling her even closer, leaving no space between them. Kyra felt her heart race, her breath quickening as she realized just how much she loved being in his arms. And yet, the question still lingered on the tip of her tongue, waiting to be asked.
"Damon, will you come with us... to our home... and mate with me?" Kyra whispered, her lips brushing against his neck as she spoke. Her words hung in the air like a soft plea, and Damon’s hands instinctively tightened around her.
He pulled her back slightly, his large hands cradling her face as he brought her closer to him. Kyra’s heart raced as she found herself inches from his gorgeous face, their breath mingling, her cheeks flushing. She could see every detail of his sharp, handsome features—the way his silver eyes darkened with emotion, locking onto hers with an intensity that made her feel weak.
His lips hovered just a breath away from hers, so close she could feel the warmth of his words. "Where you are, there’s me," he whispered, his breath teasing her lips.
Before she could respond, a loud and exaggerated cough echoed from across the room.
"Cough. Cough."
Lucas grinned from the sofa, clearly amused. "Don’t try to ignore me. I’m not invisible, you know," he teased. "And, Ky-Ky, since we’re here, we should look around this place. Plus, let’s meet little buddy Meeko."
At the mention of Meeko, Kyra’s eyes lit up with excitement. She bounced off Damon’s lap in an instant, leaving him looking pained as he glanced down at the little dragon that had woken just for her.
Lucas burst out laughing at Damon’s expression, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "Oh, come on! You’ll survive," he teased, watching Damon’s frustrated sigh with amusement.
Damon shot Lucas a sharp glare, clearly not pleased with his suggestion.
"No, not today," Lucas said, turning to look at Kyra with a more serious expression. "You need to rest, Ky-Ky. Oceanus already brought you some good medicine with the healer... and after that, you should take a nap too."
Hearing him, Kyra’s eyes widened in disbelief. She suddenly felt a surge of irritation bubble up inside her. Not sure why she was so frustrated, she started walking towards Lucas, her steps deliberate.Lucas raised his brows, assuming she was about to hug him.
A smirk spread across his face as he opened his arms wide, ready to catch her. But instead of embracing him, Kyra launched herself at him, catching him off guard.
He fell back onto the sofa, shocked, as she pressed her cheek against his, not gently, but in a way that made her frustration clear.
