Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Nathan lies
Willson and the others carefully carried Lucas to his cottage and laid him on his bed. They had considered taking him to their house, but the healer, William, assured them that Lucas would wake up soon, so there was no need to worry.
Nathan, meanwhile, was taken home. As he regained consciousness, he found Sally holding his hand tightly.
"Sally," Nathan said weakly, smiling softly at her.
Sally looked at him with mixed emotions. "Why did you fight with Lucas, Nathan? I can’t bear to see you in pain." she said, kissing his hands.
Nathan knew how much she loved him. He had made her feel so connected to him. Smiling, he signaled for her to come closer. When she leaned in, he cupped her cheeks. "Sally, back then, almost all the males in the Silver Wolf tribe wanted to be with you," he said, rubbing her chin and looking deeply into her eyes, his gaze full of raw love and desire that made her heartbeat quicken.
"The first time I saw you, I knew I was done for. Your laughter, your smile—it all excited me. When I woke up, you were the first thing on my mind, even my dreams were about you," he continued.
The Silver Wolf Tribe had ten females, a good number compared to other tribes with only one or two.
"I loved you, and I felt honored to be your first mate. But you don’t know—Lucas was always jealous of me. He liked you too, but when I became your mate, he started treating me badly." Hearing this, Sally’s expression turned cold.
"Why didn’t you tell me before? I would have dealt with him," Sally said, displeasure in her voice.
"Don’t say that. I regret not telling you sooner," Nathan replied, making Sally smile at him.
"But I still don’t understand why you fought." Sally said, her curiosity evident.
Nathan stiffened and began to explain. "I’ll tell you from the beginning. Lucas was in line to get rations. I saw him being arrogant when some males asked him to introduce them to Kyra. He said they were weak and didn’t deserve her. I couldn’t stand it. I know that only the powerful are respected, but we’re wolves—we help each other and grow together. I’m sorry, I was impulsive. I even asked him why he mated with a female of unknown origin and why he wouldn’t let her accept more mates. He got angry and started shouting nonsense, so I attacked him first."
"You’re always straightforward. That’s what I love about you, Nathan." she whispered, kissing his lips as he pulled her even closer.
Sally had no idea how much love she was giving Nathan compared to her other partners, who were sinking into depression. She kept them at a distance, never letting them touch her or show her any care. She only approached them when she needed to satisfy her physical needs. They were jealous of Nathan, who received all her affection.

"Kyra, I brought you some food," Mia announced as she entered the house with Pablo.
"Thanks, Mia. I really didn’t need it; I’m not hungry." Kyra replied, leading Mia to the sofa and making her sit down.
"No, you need to eat," Mia insisted, shaking her head. "Please, pretty please?" she added cutely.
Seeing Mia’s determination, Kyra nodded and went to the kitchen to grab plates. When she returned with three, Mia quickly said, "Oh no, Kyra, we already ate. This food is just for you, really."
"Oh, okay," Kyra said, putting the extra plate down. Mia helped her serve the food. "Kyra, you eat first, and then we’ll go see Lucas," Mia said as she took Pablo and headed to Lucas’s room. 𝒏𝒐𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢
Kyra watched them leave before turning to her food. Each bite felt heavy, so she took smaller ones until she finished. She didn’t want to let Mia down. Her energy drained, and she knew she had to take care of her wolf. She drank a glass of water.
As soon as Mia patted Kyra on the shoulder and left with Pablo, Kyra felt a wave of overwhelming sadness wash over her. She closed the door behind them, locking it tightly along with the windows, as if trying to shut out the world. Her steps were heavy as she walked back into the room, her eyes immediately falling on her Wolf—Lucas—lying on the bed. Her heart ached at the sight of the bandages around his neck, the once-thick fur now bald in patches.

When Lucas woke up, he felt disoriented. He tried to shift back into his human form but found himself stuck. Attempting to stand, a sharp pain shot through his neck, making him wince. He turned his head to lick his fur, his eyes widening in shock when he saw the bandaged area and the missing patches of fur. He stared blankly at his wounds, unable to comprehend what had happened to him.
Exhausted, he collapsed back onto the bed, his mind swirling with confusion and despair. ’What happened to my fur? When did this happen?’ he thought, his heart heavy.
"Lucas..." Kyra’s voice broke through his haze. She had been dozing next to him but woke up at the movement on the bed. Seeing his wide, frightened eyes, she immediately sat up, her face etched with concern.
"Are you okay, Lucas? Are you in pain? Why are you trying to stand? You need to rest," Kyra said, her words spilling out in a rush of worry. She saw the fear and confusion in his eyes, her own heart breaking at the sight.
"You can’t shift back, can you?" she asked softly. Lucas shook his head, a sad confirmation.
Kyra forced a sad smile, gently caressing his furry head. "You’re injured. The healer had no choice but to cut your fur to prevent infection. I’m so sorry, Lucas." She saw his head droop sadly onto the bed.
"Are you thirsty? I’ll get you some water." Kyra offered, and Lucas nodded weakly. She went to the kitchen, filled a bowl with water, and returned to find him lying lifelessly on the bed again. Her heart clenched at the sight.
She placed the bowl near him, and he began to drink, licking the water slowly. "Don’t worry, Lucas. When you heal, your fur will grow back," Kyra said softly. Lucas looked up at her, hope glimmering in his eyes, as if asking, ’Really?’
Kyra smiled warmly. "Yes, really," she assured him.
After he finished drinking, she took the bowl back to the kitchen. Returning to his side, she asked gently, "Do you want to sleep again?" Lucas responded by resting his head on her lap, finding comfort in her presence.
Kyra smiled tenderly, stroking his head. "Do you want to see something magical?" she whispered. Lucas nodded, his eyes showing a glimmer of curiosity.
