Chapter 521 -522: Forever Half Past Eight (6)_1
Compared to Jing Haohao, Liang Yuan’s handsome face, which bore a striking resemblance to Liang Chen, still wore an unruffled smile. He seemed to be scrutinizing her awkwardness with close observation. After a long silence, he finally spoke with a casual tone, saying, “This year, the fifth day after the Spring Festival, Jiangshan City People’s Hospital, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.”
Upon hearing Liang Yuan recite these dates, Jing Haohao’s lips began to tremble uncontrollably.
Liang Yuan paused deliberately and then turned to Jing Haohao, saying, “Miss Jing, what did you do that day? Do you want me to recount it to you, or can you explain it to me?”
That was a day she was all too familiar with, the day she went to the hospital to have an intrauterine birth control procedure.
Jing Haohao pressed her lips together forcefully. It took her a while to move them, but still, she couldn’t utter a word.
Liang Yuan, maintaining a formal and upright posture, was standing tall in front of Jing Haohao. Their considerable height difference was made more noticeable with him holding the umbrella, meticulously shielding her from the sun, looking every bit the strict gentleman. However, when she still hadn’t spoken after a long time, he again took the initiative, saying in the same narrative tone as before, “Since Miss Jing can’t bring herself to say it, let me say it for her. Miss Jing had an intrauterine birth control surgery.”
With that, Jing Haohao’s chest began to rise and fall unevenly.
Liang Yuan, on the other hand, smiled faintly and gently asked, “Miss Jing, after undergoing this procedure, how exactly did you manage to get pregnant before its removal?” 𝖓𝖔𝖛𝔭𝖚𝖇.𝔠𝖔𝔪
His sequential questioning was akin to interrogating a criminal.
Jing Haohao, nervously pale, gathered up her strength and finally spoke, saying, “I underwent that procedure, but I am genuinely pregnant. Moreover, there’s always a chance of pregnancy despite the operation.”
“Of course, I don’t need Miss Jing to enlighten me about biology,” Liang Yuan replied with his usual grace. His tone was carefree as he continued, “I understand the risks of pregnancy despite this procedure. After all, my mother got pregnant with Chen after undergoing it, giving birth to him in her middle age.”
“However, Miss Jing, out of all the countless women in the world who have the same procedure, less than one percent might become pregnant. Do you truly believe you possess the same good luck as my mother, conceiving a child in such a short time? Oh, even my mother didn’t have such good fortune; she only conceived Chen three years after the operation.”
Jing Haohao could clearly sense the skepticism in Liang Yuan’s words. She swallowed hard and weakly responded, “Mr. Liang, I’m not sure what you’re trying to tell me with these words, but I am truly pregnant — if I weren’t, I wouldn’t have…”
Jing Haohao paused. The child inside her belonged to Liang Chen. She couldn’t let her child grow up fatherless. This man was her child’s uncle, so she couldn’t sever relations entirely with him.
So, Jing Haohao finally chose to remain silent.
Liang Yuan merely flashed an understanding smile at Jing Haohao, not showing slightest displeasure or irritation at her emotional outburst. Instead, he pulled out a medical report from his document bag, saying, “Yesterday, when you and Chen went for the prenatal examination, this was the actual report, not the one Chen gave you.”
PS: Liang Chen, please hurry home; your brother is bullying Haohao!
